Silvestre De Sousa has been called upon to take the ride, and that has to also be a big positive. Goes well on soft ground, has won on it before. Has won over a mile also. Last winning mark on turf was 89, runs off 75 tomorrow, 14 pounds lower. Newcombe's last 4 runners have all run very well, including 1 winner.

If he gets a good pace to run at here he should be finishing well. Had quite a lot of bad luck since winning off 1lb higher in April and the race he competed in here last time has a rock solid look to it with it helping to be right on the pace. Hopefully they'll go quicker here and he can come over the top of them late on. 3.50 Nottingham - 2pts win Astra Hall @ 11/2 (Boyles) The amateur rider of this horse has already tasted success from a small number of rides on the level and is partnered by a horse who should relish conditions here. A strong traveller, which helps in these sort of contests, she's just been shaping as if needing the step back in trip. She didn't find as much as expected the last twice over further and a strongly run 1m2f looks right up her street. The Ralph Beckett yard are in hot form right now and soft ground also suits. Looks sure to go close.
