Flat Racing Monday 22nd of October

Recommended Posts

*Damika - Pontefract 5:20* Back down to a mark of 84 now, only 2 pounds above it's last winning mark at Nottingham. Has ran well on soft ground numerous times, so the ground won't be an issue. Back in August it ran in a Class 2 handicap and was 4th of 19 behind El Viento. Tomorrows race is a Class 4, so this would be a big drop down in class and a weaker contest, so on that form would go very close here. David Brown had his first runner since the 8th of October today, and that won, so i am thinking he has his horses in good shape now. *0.5 Points e/w @ 16/1 Paddy Power BOG*

Re: Flat Racing Monday 22nd of October 4.00 Windsor - 2pts win Lieutenant Kojak @ 7/1 (PP) Finding a horse who goes on heavy ground is crucial in such conditions and this runner relishes on such a surface. Both of his turf successes have come on soft and that makes him an attractive proposition in this race as he drops in grade. The fact he stays a bit further is another big advantage and his effort off 1lb higher in a hot Ascot handicap three starts back reads well on ground possibly not testing enough. He's had excuses since - with the ground good when staying on at Ascot and didn't enjoy the 1m6f on this type of ground in another race better than this at Haydock last time when finishing in midfield. This is easier and will be less competitive with ground concerns over many. The yard are in form and Neil Callan is a good jockey booking.
