BBOTD 10th Feb

5.40 Wolverhampton Dunmore Boy doesnt look badly treated on best form but can often blow his chances by racing quite keenly as has been the case recently but does atleast shape as if in form if settling better and this drop back to 6f may be the key but probably best watched. Consistant appeared to come back from a break better than effort when winning off a 5lb lower mark, should enjoy a truly run race again today with several pace angles in this race and the 2nd has made the form looks solid (Rightcar 2 2nds and win since) but has had chances of this sort of mark before so now needs to back that effort up again today but yard continue in good form. Welcome Approach is another last time out winner with a good record here and under Luke Morris who is up again, won this race last year off a 2lb higher mark, the form of his latest win looks dubios run at a dawdle and slow time and was well suited to how the race unfolded and the form has since taken a knock with Dingaan turning in an awful display. Looks vunerable on that form. Almaty Express comes from the same yard as Welcome Approach useful jockey booked and not easy to read into the bookings given Morris's record on the other. He has dropped to his last winning mark over CD and has won here 15 times and hardly ever runs a bad race and he showed good attitude last time out putting it all in at the finish, form has been boosted by horses that finished behidn him including Welcome Approach and he is well drawn in stall 2 to make a positive move and record from a short break is ok and should give his running once more at a reasonable price. 1pt win Almaty Express 8/1

Re: BBOTD 10th Feb 5.40 Wolves Athaakeel 1pt win @ 16/1 Paddy Power Bit of a long shot with this horse as he doesn't win too often but they have opted to take the blinkers of him tomorrow which might just spark him into life. He has worn the blinkers ever since winning at 20/1 in them for the first time back in December 2010 but he did manage to notch up 3 of his 5 all weather wins without them. Two of those wins came over CD with the first being in a seller and the 2nd coming in a handicap over CD off a mark of 60. His last win on the all-weather came at Lingfield last year in a seller over 6f but he didn't manage to win on turf a couple of runs after at Brighton. His last few runs haven't been too inspiring but I thought he should a little more enthusiasm for the game last time out at Lingfield and may be ready to take advantage of his sliding mark. He has dropped to a mark of 55 which is his lowest career all-weather mark and Ron Harris has booked the talented 7lb claimer Darren Edward Egan for the ride. His claim puts him down to 48 which, he can definitely win off. Both trainer and jockey are in good form at the moment and I wouldn't be surprised if we see a better run from Athaakeel tomorrow. He is poorly drawn in 11 which makes life tough but he is hold up horse so it shouldn't matter too much. There are a few well drawn runners in the race that like to lead or be prominent so they could force a good pace to the race which would suit my selection. There are plenty of other horses in the race that would also be suited by a fast pace but I fancy Athaakeel to bounce back to form here.
