BBOTD Wed 25th Jan

3.50 Lingfield Not overly keen on the favourite Artic Lynx at 11/4 in a competitive race, has gone close last twice off slightly lower marks but perhaps the worry now is the bird has flown as handicapper has reacted and is now 2lb above last winning mark and yard a little quiet, but should get a good gallop to chase with Piceno and Tislaam in the field. Podgies Boy offers a little value at 5/1, having been below par since return from a lengthy absence in 3 starts before bouncing back last time out by out staying Bianca De Medici at Southwell over this trip, did well considering how far back he was turning in especially on the fibresand so a lot to like about that effort and handicapper not been silly with just a 3lb rise in the weights which still only puts him 2lb above his highest winning mark and could still be open to more improvement yet, yard going well and Hanagan takes over only concern is draw but 8 of 8 not awful for a hold up performer around here. Shifting Star is well handicapped on his very best form but isnt getting any younger. Has gone close the last twice but handicapper slowly edging him back up and goes without usual headgear today. Tislaam is consistent but has never won off a mark this high and unlikely to get a soft lead in this field. Dozy Joe also looks a tad overpriced on what he has achieved so far to date, not totally exposed and by no means out of this, he held his form well on the AW winter not so good on the turf in a couple of runs in the summer and perhaps needed the run on reappearance around here over 6f on penultimate start but bounced back to form last time out back up in trip staying on well, that was a strong race and he did well at the weights and if backing that effort up back in handicap having gone close of this mark last year and first time visor is also tried today is overpriced. 1pt win Podgies Boy 5/1 lads

Re: BBOTD Wed 25th Jan *Hunters Belt - Musselburgh 3:10* One of only two course and distance winners in the field and produced its best effort for a while last time it ran over hurdles when 4th over course and distance behind Simply Ned. It had a run on the flat only a couple of weeks ago and should have won, just getting touched off by Magic Millie, so the horse we know is fit and well and should be primed for this race tomorrow. It runs off its last hurdles mark but Brian Toomey takes off 5 pounds to give it an even better chance. Noel Wilson had a winner recently and has had several near misses at Musselburgh of late. Should be in the mix. *1 Point WIN @ 5/1 VC BOG*
