Re: MLB: August 19th Picks Washington @ 2.22 pinnacle Hernandez is 7-11, with a 4.21 ERA as he has allowed 3 runs or less in 6 of his last 10 starts (total of 30 runs) and generally pitches well at home. He has faced the Phillies 4 times this season, going 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA, and allowed just 1 run on 4 hits in the 4-2 road win over them last Friday. Oswalt is 5-7, with a 3.84 ERA as he has allowed at least 3 runs in each of his last 6 starts, and is 0-2 with a 3.38 ERA in 3 starts in Washington. While he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in the 11-3 home win over them last week, he allowed 2 runs on 6 hits in the 2-1 road loss to them in June, as he has not received much run support in these games. With several of the Phillies bats questonable if they wil play, like Washington to do enough to win the first game of the series. Pittsburgh @ 2.25 pinnacle Correia is 12-11, with a 4.62 ERA as he has allowed 11 runs in his last 5 road starts (where he is 10-3 with a 2.64 ERA) he has been poor at home where he has allowed 27 runs in his last 5 home starts (going 2-8 with a 7.58 ERA). However like him to him finally put a good home start together as he faces a Cincinnati side that he has beaten the last 4 times with a 2.93 ERA to go with it, allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in the 9-3 road win over them in April, in his only start this season against them. Bailey is 7-5, with a 4.43 ERA as he has allowed at least 4 runs in 3 of his last 4 road starts. He has pitched well against Pittsburgh in the past, going 5-0 with a 1.52 ERA in 6 starts against them but has not faced them this year where they have shown that they are a better side than the one's of previous years Houston @ 2.27 pinnacle Rodriguez is 8-9, with a 3.50 ERA as he has allowed 2 runs or less in 4 of his last 5 starts. Generally he does well at home, but is 1-2 with a 5.17 ERA in 3 starts, all at home, to San Francisco. With the Giants wihtout some key batters and not hitting all that well, then he may be able keep them quiet here. Vogelsong is 10-2, with a 2.47 ERA as he has allowed 2 runs or less in 7 of his last 10 starts, as he has given up 10 runs in his last 4 road starts. Houston, with all their disruptions this year and losing players to other teams, has won their last 2 games, and these young players will be looking to continue that winning feeling. Kansas @ 2.16 pinnacle Francis is 4-13, with a 4.76 ERA as he has allowed 3 runs or less in 6 of his last 10 starts, with 12 runs in his last 4 home starts. Like him to do well here as Boston have not been scoring and now look like they have lost Youkilis and Ortiz for this game. Miller is 4-1, with a 5.40 ERA as he has allowed 3 runs or less in 7 of his last 9 starts but he has not gone past the 6th innings in these starts, which means teams get a look at their bullpen. He is 0-2 with a 11.08 ERA in 3 starts against Kansas, as they hit him for 7 runs and 9 hits in the 13-9 win over them last month. but with the Red Sox not hitting all that well, doubt that he will get the run support here. Chicago White Sox @ 2.12 pinnacle Peavy is 5-5, with a 4.69 ERA as he has allowed 3 runs or less in 5 of his last 10 starts. While he has allowed 21 runs in going 3-0 in his last 5 home starts, the White Sox have given him some run support in his last 2 starts, which they have ended up winning, and with the need to get back into the AL Central race, like them to do enough to win here. Harrison is 10-8, with a 3.19 ERA as he has allowed 2 runs or less in 6 of his last 10 starts but has given up at least 4 runs in 3 of his last 4 road starts. He is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in his last 3 starts against the Chicago White Sox but allowed 3 runs in the 4-3 loss to them in May, but did not get the decision. Toronto -1.5 @ 2.60 pinnacle Cecil is 4-5, with a 4.38 ERA as he has allowed 3 runs or less in 6 of his last 10 starts, and on the road he has been especially good of late, allowing just 6 runs in his last 4 road starts. He is 2-1 with a 2.86 ERA in 3 starts against Oakland, and though he allowed 3 runs in the 4-1 home loss to them ealier this month, like his bats to give him some run support on the road as they face Harden, who is 3-2, with a 4.50 ERA. He has given up 11 runs in his 4 home starts this season, but he is 1-3 with a 5.11 ERA in 9 starts against Toronto. While he allowed 1 run on 5 hits in beating Cecil and Toronto earier this month, like Toronto to beat them here as Oakland does not score many runs, while the Blue Jays have been hitting well of late. August picks: 28-48 (-12.04) July picks: 54-62 (+3.14) June picks: 53-72 (-2.95) May picks: 31-73 (-30.18) April picks: 45-56 (+2.52)
