MLB August 6th picks

Last night turned out to be pretty good, going 3/4 and hopefully we'll be keeping the winning picks coming... NYY @ BOS: Yankees win @ 1,69 (pinnacle)…7/10 The much anticipated opener of this series last night saw the New York Yankees…break the spell against Boston, coming out winners by a score of 3-2; good pitching was obviously the key to success with Colon doing a fine job and the bullpen taking it the rest of the way. After last night’s game, don’t know, I just have this feeling the Yankees may be up for some payback sort of speak and by that I mean I am thinking possible sweep, just like the Red Sox did so earlier this season in Yankee stadium. They got it done yesterday with the unstable Colon on the mound and you’d think they can at least make it two in a row today with their ace, C.C Sabathia, on the mound who has been just outstanding all season long. On the flipside, can’t really say the same about Lackey, who gets the nod for Boston, even though his latest outings were much better and the improvement was there. Still though, he is more than hittable and it will certainly be a very tough task to face this Yankee line up, them being as hot as they’ve been lately. Not much more to add here, with the Yankees just being the obvious favorite at a decent enough price. CIN @ CHI: Cubs win @ 2,30 (bet365)…5/10 The Cubbies opened the series with a win over Cincy last night and it seems like they got some good momentum going lately, that being their 6th in a row overall. Today’s pitching match up makes it look like a really even contest, with both Cueto and Zambrano coming off some good outings and wins and perhaps Cincinnati may even have the edge, given that Cueto has been really great for them this season whereas Zambrano has been up and down. This Reds team, however, I feel has too many flaws in many departments and that alone is the reason they don’t seem to have enough to make some run for post season, despite the anticipation when the season began. The Cubs are not any better for sure but the fact of the matter is, at the moment they are hot and have some good momentum so sticking for them to continue this hot streak behind Zambrano with medium stakes. SD @ PIT: Pirates win @ 1,86 (bet365)…8/10 It’s been a total collapse for this Pirates team that not long ago was even enjoying first place in the National League East. Ever since the All-star break though, it’s been most a downfall and with last night’s 15-5 loss, it is now 8 consecutive games they have dropped. The biggest issue has been their pitching, which until very recently was one of the keys to their success; lately though, almost all are underperforming and all of a sudden it feels like batting practice for their opponents, who have been hitting home runs…for fun. Sooner or later this drought will end and I am feeling this may happen today, with Paul Maholm on the mound. His 6-11 record certainly won’t impress anyone but for the most part, he’s pitched really well for Pittsburgh, only to be a victim of very little run support. Opposing pitcher Cory Luebke has been pretty decent for San Diego but he is certainly a guy that the Pirates can cope with, at least giving a few runs to Maholm to work with. Besides, hitting hasn’t been that much of an issue for the Pirates, even in last night’s ballgame, where they still mustered 15 hits; last night everything just happened to go the Padres way and just totally wrong for Pittsburgh. On the flipside, the Padres aren’t exactly the offensive type team that will pile runs; yesterday was just one of those few exceptions. I like the spot today for the Pirates to end this losing streak behind their strong lefty and am trusting them with medium-high stakes. Elsewhere around the league, prices for Detroit are set quite fair behind their ace Justin Verlander and I see why they can’t continue in winning ways over at KC; thinking Tigers & Yankees combo here… I also have a really funny feeling about Oakland, though very rare do I trust them on the road; last time I did though, they did come through for me so I may give them a small nod. Lastly, the New York Mets are also under small consideration, in what may probably be another low scoring game. Niese has been good for the Mets and Hanson has been struggling for Atlanta ever since the All-Star break so it may be a good spot for the Mets bats to sort of warm up after 5 straight defeats. As for totals, don’t really have a strong feel about any game aside from what I suspect will be a monster over in Colorado; over 9 runs should be covered easily there. Still got plenty of time before game time so, if anything, I may add a pick or two later on. Cheers to all and good luck :ok
