Re: MLB: July 16th Picks Atlanta -1.5 @ 2.28 pinnacle Hanson is 10-4, with a 2.44 ERA and has allowed 3 runs or less in 9 of his last 10 starts (total of just 16 runs) which includes only 7 runs and 19 hits in his last 5 home starts. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits in the 7-3 loss at home against Washington in May this year, and with the way they hit last night, like him to contain the Nationsals bats here, and his own bats to get a few runs off Lannan. Lannan is 5-6, with a 3.64 ERA and has allowed 3 runs or less in his last 9 starts (total of 20 runs in his last 10 starts) but has not been as effective on the road where he has given up 11 runs and 30 hits in his last 4 road starts. St Louis -1.5 @ 2.34 pinnacle Carpenter is 4-7, with a 3.85 ERA as he has allowed 3 runs or less in 7 of his last 10 starts (total of 24 runs) with 11 runs in his last 4 road starts. He has improved of late going 3-0 with just 7 runs in his last 4 starts, and like him to do well against the Reds here, where he is 13-4 with a 2.29 ERA in 21 starts against them, and allowed just 6 hits in the 1-0 win over them earlier this month. Arroyo is 7-7, with a 5.58 ERA and has allowed 4 runs or more in 7 of his last 10 starts (total of 46 runs) as well as at least 5 hits in each of these 10 starts (total of 74 hits) so he has been getting hit of late. He has allowed 18 runs in his last 5 home starts, so he has been better there, but is 7-11 with a 4.67 ERA against St Louis, and allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in the 9-8 win over them earlier this month. Like Carpenter to tie down the Reds while his own bats score a few runs here. Minnesota -1.5 @ pinnacle Pavano is 6-6, with a 4.10 ERA and has allowed 3 runs or less in 7 of his last 10 starts (total of 25 runs) with 12 runs in his last 4 home starts, with a 2.77 ERA compared to a 5.07 ERA on the road, like him to do well here. He allowed 2 runs on 9 hits in a complete game 5-2 win at Kansas last month and like him to contain Kansas. Francis is 3-10, with a 4.60 ERA and he too has allowed 3 runs or less in 7 of his last 10 starts (total of 30 runs) but has allowed 18 of these runs in his last 5 road starts. He has a 6.29 ERA on the road compared to a 3.38 ERA at home, and allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in the 6-0 loss to Minnesota at home last month so can see the Twin scoring a few runs on him here. July picks: 24-23 (+5.74) June picks: 53-72 (-2.95) May picks: 31-73 (-30.18) April picks: 45-56 (+2.52)
