Best Bet Of The Day - Sunday 3rd April

4:00 Curragh - St Nicholas Abbey - Back I am really happy to see this lad back on a racecourse here. He won me alot of money when winning 3 starts out of 3 in his juvenile season in 2010, culminating in a breathtaking win in the Racing Post Trophy where he massacred a quaity field. He was then justifiably sent off as one of the shortest priced favourites in 2000 Guineas history last May, but was only able to manage 6th. To be honest, I don't think that either the track or the trip particularly suited him, yet he was barely disgraced in a relatively close up 6th. For whatever reason, he's been off the track since which cannot have been the original plan at the start of last year but hopefully he can put all that behind him by winning here and then moving back into the higher circles of this sphere once again. The trip of 1m2f looks ideal, and the drop in grade sees him given a glorious opportunity here. His only real opposition looks to Unaccompanied, but he is a strange opponent having come an excellent 2nd in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival a little over 2 weeks ago. That race will have taken alot out of him and it's weird that he's been switched back to Listed flat races so quickly after. If St Nicholas Abbey is anywhere near his best, he'll crucify this field 1pt win @ SP

Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Sunday 3rd April 2.45 Doncaster Hard to find much that stands out, although last season I thought Ming Meng might be a good thing having romped home in a good enough looking maiden for a Hamilton maiden, that was on good ground similar to todays. She failed to go on from that although did run respectably on all starts afterwards and 3rd when last seen off this mark at newcastle on heavy ground. Should be seen to better affect on this ground and it is interesting a top yard has perservered with her. 0.5pts e/w Ming Meng 8/1 pp
