Cricket: Pakistan vs South Africa - 2xTwenty20s & ODI Series

Recommended Posts

Not sure what to make of this series but it begins tomorrow. It's all taking place in Dubai as the Pakistan hosting cricket ban continues. Not overly sure what betting potential this has as Pakistan are involved but the two twenty20's are live on British Eurosport in the UK so there might be a bit of potential there. Apparently the ODI's are on Eurosport too but only in highlight form :eyes. Schedule:

Re: Cricket: Pakistan vs South Africa - 2xTwenty20s & ODI Series 2 for me. 3pts Pakistan to win 1st Twenty20 6/4 VC Obviously I'm a bit reluctant to back Pakistan in the present climate but in the limited overs stuff over here they looked to play genuinely and having made their players sign this new code of conduct which restricts outside influences as much as they can be restricted I have a bit more comfort in them. If this was a straight up cricket match which was 100% trustworthy then I'd definitely be on Pakistan. I think they are the better 20 over side and I think these conditions favour them. Abu Dhabi is the venue and all the cricket I've seen and read about from there suggests it favours spin. In Afridi and Ajmal Pakistan have two excellent spinners and they play a side who don't play spin very well. South Africa have a couple of good spinners themselves but Pakistan know how to play against that type of bowler. Zimbabwe have spent the past two weeks tucking into this South African bowling attack which must worry Botha somewhat. Pakistan's aggressive batting gives them the edge and it's no surprise to me they've won the two games between the two sides which meant something - in each of the last two twenty20 world cups. Pakistan played well in England in the twenty20's with Australia and the ODI's with England and I'll forgive them the twenty20's against England because it was all kicking off then. With the likes of Umar Gul impressing in this format I think the 6/4 is a good price on Pakistan to take this opening game. 2pts U.Akmal Top Pakistan Batsman 4/1 Blue Square In the two games against England I highlighted Umar Akmal's credentials and how this format suits his style and so I see no real reason not to take him here. If anything this batting lineup is weakened at the top with Kamran Akmal unavailable and has more strength down the bottom. That's not going to worry Umar in a 20 over match though. Umar top scored against South Africa with 51 in the world twenty20 and top scored against England out in Dubai earlier in the year. He's a class act and at 4/1 he's the pick to top the Pakistan scorecard in this 1st match.
