FinLandiaFish
Sport Ice Hockey Event Saipa - Pelicans Selection Pelicans Strength 10/10 Date 01/10/2010 Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 2.99 Reasoning Pelicans starts this season with a five game roadtrip as their rink is going through some repairs. Tonight game will finish that trip as they travel to meet Saipa. After four games Pelicans have managed to one win and three loses (one after regulation). Their shorthanded play has been a key factor as they've allowed only one goal while a man down although having 17 minor penalties during these four games. They've also succeeded to score one powerplay goal in all but one game so special teams seems to be a strong suit for Pelicans at the moment. Goal differential after four games stands at 11scored and 12allowed. Also notable is that their goaltender Hovinen has made over 30saves in all but one game where he saved *only* 28 shots, so definetely an inform goalie. Saipa has started pretty well racking up two wins in regulation and three loses (one after regulation). Strange thing is that both their home games have been loses, first 3-5 against Lukko and then 1-4 against Ässät. On road they have upset big teams like Kärpät, Kalpa and only lost 3-2 against HIFK after regulation. Also Saipa's shorthanded play has been sharp as they've allowed only one goal during 26 minor penalties in five games played. On powerplay Saipa has scored four times, three of which game in the game against Lukko. All in all special teams seem to be working well for Saipa as well. Their goalie Myllyniemi has been stellar so far averaging 29 saves per game. Last season all three similiar fixtures (Saipa at home) ended in a draw after regualtion game. I expect this one to be a tight one as well. I saw Pelicans' latest game against Lukko and although they lost I liked what I saw. Basicly they had their chances ruined by bad luck as a broken stick led to a 3-3 tying goal at the end of 2nd period. Saipa has been struggling at home and maybe they are infact holding on to their sticks a bit too hard in front of home fans. That said Pelicans regualtion win odds around 3'ish are too high. Flat stakes for me as allways, otherwise I'd advice a low to moderate stake.
FinLandiaFish
Re: Finnish SM-league 01-02 October Saipa 4-3 Pelicans (after regulation) So the match ended 3-3 when the summer announced the end of 3rd period; thus my bet was lost. Tight game indeed. A little dissapointed as Pelicans had a 3-1 lead but oh well.. such is betting :\
