  1. Re: Wimbledon (M+F) BERDYCH + 7 games v Federer I strongly fancy Berdych to force at least a couple of breakers here and possibly even nick a set. Although Fed has been on fire so far, Mahut would've covered a 7 game handicap and Berdych should be a much tougher proposition. They met at Halle and Berdych took a set there so hopefully that would have given him some belief, something which he so evidently lacked when they met at the French Open. Although neither are his favourite surface I think Berdych will be a much better player on grass than on clay and I expect a more competitive match this time. 2.20 at bet365.

  2. Re: Wimbledon (M+F) I've gone for Kohlschreiber on the handicap too. Agree with your analysis of Grosjean - Baggy. I'm more confident though and have taken Fat John -5 on the handicap at 2.0. I've taken Rochus over Hewitt. Not really confident here but Rochus had 4 match points against Federer and could be on the verge of doing something special on grass. I'll probably lay this if he goes a couple of sets up because he could have trouble closing it out. 3.25. 5pts each.

  3. Re: Wimbledon (M+F) I can't believe old man Bjorkman won so easily. I threw away 5 points on Haas during the fifth set as well so that's -10 for the day. To make matters worse, I had planned to lay Nalbandian 3-0 but I missed it because he requested an early start so he could watch the Argentina match and the organisers obliged. He probably wishes he hadn't bothered now.

  4. Re: Wimbledon (M+F) great calls on the handicap Robijas, especially in the mens section. well played. mixed day for me, tipsarevic beat the handicap (just) and wawrinka won easily but the scud lost and robredo lost the first set from 4-1 up in the breaker. and apparently betfair have contacted the itf over the unusual amount of money staked on bloomfield - berlocq. hardly any prices for tomorrow at the moment. Of what is there, I strongly fancy Bjorkman and Bracciali. I might include Agassi in a treble although Seppi is pretty dangerous so I'm not quite sure.

  5. Re: Wimbledon (M+F) I'm going for Robredo over Djokovic. I have no confidence here but as I mentioned once before, I believe Robredo has won every time he's been the underdog against a lower ranked opponent this year so I'm going to stick with that strategy for now. I suspect I'll have to add a "no grass" clause to the rule in the future but for now I'll leave it alone. 5pts at 2.12 on betfair. I have 5 on the Scud and 5 on wawrinka as well.

  6. Re: Wimbledon (M+F) bet365 have Tipsarevic at 2.1 , + 7 games, on the handicap market against Roddick. He has a pretty good serve doesn't he? While I can't see him winning the match he should be able to force tie-break or two. He's had some decent enough results on grass this year and there's been at least one breaker in seemingly all his matches against good opponents.

  7. Re: Wimbledon (M+F) any thoughts on Gaudio v Faurel? I don't know much about Faurel but looking at Gaudio's record he seems to be someone who turns up without any preparation on grass just to collect his 1st round appearance money. He hasn't even shown up at all the last 2 years. Faurel won 2 matches in qualifying before losing to Arthurs in 4 sets so at least has a bit of practice on the surface. He's available at 2.75. I think I've just talked myself in to playing this one.

  8. Re: Wimbledon (M+F) Outrights: Ancic 10 pts at 26 on betfair. As I said earlier, I did this before the draw figuring that the price wasn't going to get any higher but could shorten if the draw was favourable. In that sense I appear to have been correct but with Federer lurking in the same quarter this doesn't look such a good bet. In saying that, I feel Ancic is the one player most likely to beat Federer on grass. His all-round game has improved a lot this year as seen by his run to the quarter-finals at the French open. He also seems to have improved mentally with numerous amazing comebacks during the clay court season, including a couple of busted 1.01's and comes into this on a high having just defended his title in Hertogenbosch. Williams, 10pts at 8.6 on betfair. Has an unbelievable record at Wimbledon reaching 4 of the last 5 finals. Sure she isn't in great form, but then she was in even worse form last year. That's it really.

  9. Re: Wimbledon (M+F) I've gone for Melzer over Mahut. He's been fairly impressive when I've seen him recently despite losing against Monfils and Ferrero in very tight matches. Although Mahut has also had decent results on grass this year, beating Malisse and Stepanek, he's quite inexperienced at this level never having won a best of 5 sets match. Melzer's greater experience and a 3-1 h2h(including one on grass) swing this one in his favour for me. 5pts at 1.73. (bluesq)

  10. Re: Wimbledon (M+F) A word of caution on that Davydenko bet: Kohlschreiber is pretty good on grass and beat him comfortably just last week. He's a likely 2nd round opponent, if the injury that forced him to retire against Baghdatis wasn't too serious. Anyone know anything about Karlovic's physical state? He hasn't played since retiring from Queens' qualifying as far as I know so I'd be slightly wary of backing him. I'd also recommend going with a firm that voids retirements for those who are going to put money behind him, just in case.

  11. Re: Tennis: The value in Qualifiers Quereshi put up a great fight against Ancic only losing 7-5 in the 3rd. For those of you analysing the data it might be worth noting how often the big priced qualies have taken their opponents to 3 sets with a view to potentially laying the favourite to win in 2 sets rather than backing the qualifier, when the price is above a certain level.

  12. Re: ATP Nottingham & Ordina Open & WTA Eastbourne 18th-24th June I reckon Wang is a good bet to upset Hrbaty. I mentioned that I was condidering him in the first round at Queen's but decided not to play it in the end. He beat Bjorkman in straight sets and followed it up by knocking out Davydenko before losing to Tursunov in 3. Hrbaty has been poor all season and is worth opposing on his first outing on his least favourite surface. Currently 2.5 on bet365.

  13. Re: ATP Queens & Halle & WTA Birmingham 12th-18th June I'm down about 15pts after today's shambles. I've put 20 on Roddick in the outright market, which will almost certainly be my last punt of the week. I only saw bits of his match against Gonzo today but he seemed to be cruising. He's now won 18 in a row at Queen's and the venue seems to bring out the best in him. He has a 6-0 h2h record with Blake so this should hopefully see me through to the final at least. He's 2.1 at stan james.

  14. Re: ATP Queens & Halle & WTA Birmingham 12th-18th June

:clap Great find! I know you're prolly distracted by the Cup, but hope you got some of that!
nah, I was planning to check again this morning but completely forgot unfortuneately. I had backed 'dasco at 4 pre-match and laid him after the first set. He was looking good so it was just a small lay. Left me just +1pt on a Nadal win with big green on 'dasco. Not a complete disaster then, but it should've been a whole lot better.
