A number of years ago I was at new years party in a friends house - I met a jockey there who just wanted to talk about horses all night. Anyhow he kept banging on about this horse he was riding at his stables and he told me this one is going to go very close to winning the gold cup next year - not to be missed - so I wrote the name on a fag packet which got lost in the house. Next morning I hunted all over the place in bins etc. - eventually found the packet with the horses name on it. Never heard of the horse before - but I had never met a jockey before this and never had a tip that he was raving about. I bet this horse ew on a number of occasions before the cup and every time I got a winner since new year I plonked the winnings onto the horse at various odds before the race. It started in the morning around 40/1 and was bet down to about 25/1 - it hosed in at 25/1 - I had numerous singles and yankee bets including the horse - boy was I glad I found that fag packet again. Horses name was Cool Ground won the cup in 1992 (the race can still be found on google) - so the moral of the story is to hunt out the list or you might regret it later.😄
