  1. Re: AFL Rd. 4. Been following the AFL for a few years now, but always with smallish stakes as Im far from being an expert. Expecting PA and Brisbane both to make up from embarresments last weekend and get themselves back on track and COVER -23.5 and -25.5. Thoughts?? Thinking that each one is coming up against two of the comps weakest teams in Carlton and Hawthorn respectively, and both will be targetting these matches as must wins. Both teams getting a few players back from injury too. Burgoyne and Salopek back for Port, with Brisbane getting Black and Charman. Pending fitness tests Cornes and Lappin may also return. Will be following you on Gelong too, and also taking the Kangaroos ML.

  2. Re: Super 12 Round 8 Agree with you on the Blues, put my money on as well. Also on the Cheifs now at a similar margin -14. After reading an article and comments by the team and coach, they know they need this one and the bonus to give themselves any chance of making the semis. Watched their game the other nite on replay. Reshuffle of inside backs worked well, still dont like Hills D, but he is a very good attacking (running and ditributing) player. Donald played well, as did Ta'auso. As a result the outside backs fired for really the first time in the season. Gibbes being back is huge, and it really is their easiest opportunity to get 5 points for the remainder of the season. Injuries to Cats will be disruptive too. Summary of bets so far: 7/10 Brumbies H/H @ 1.80 NZ TAB 6/10 Blues -16 @ 1.91 Bet 365 (Paddy Power -15 available) 5/10 Chiefs -14 @ 1.91 Bet 365

  3. Re: Super 12 Round 8 A few more team changes and injury updates : Sharks : look like they will be making changes to both inside backs, Pienaar and James (Hamstring) to be replaced by Nxumalo and Barnard. Captain and hooker Smit will make a return. ACT : No.8 Fava out Horoua in. Stormers : Shalke Burger may still miss Crusaders game, dependent on fitness test pre game. Werner Greeff, Quinton Davids, Adri Badenhorst, Joe van Niekerk and Hanyani Shimange will not be available for the match. Cats : Winger Fredricks, lock Gilfillian, and flanker Scholtz to injury, possiblily tight head prop Van de Linder too. Replacements are Swartbooi or Willem De Waal, Pieterse, and Grobbellaar, + Marius Hunter if needed. Cheifs : Bates (hamstring) bracketed with Nili Latu on bench. Ben Castle in for M.Collins (stomach bug) Blues : Spencer out 3 weeks (Broken cheek bone) Crusaders : Leo'o in for McCaw (Concussion, at least 3 weeks) Laulala back in at 13, Gear moves back to Wing, Delasau out. Hewitt back in starting lineup for Feek.

  4. Not a great weekend with 3 form 6 and a 4.89 unit loss. This Week (home teams first NZ TAB odds lines from Sports Tab) Bulldogs v Sydney 1.65 2.15 (-2.5) Souths v Penrith 2.55 1.47 (-6.5) Nth Qld v Wests Tigers 1.42 2.70 (-7.5) Melbourne v Parramatta 1.20 4.20 (-12.5) Newcastle v Warriors 1.75 2.00 (-3.5) Manly v Canberra 1.60 2.25 (-4.5) St GI v Brisbane 2.00 1.75 (-1.5) Early looks... Like Sydney over Dogs, both teams in bad form, but Doggies missing bulk of starting forward pack. Prob better odds to be found somewhere else too. Also think Wests are again value. Melbourne back home should cover and Brisbane after good game last weekend -1.5 also looks good.

  5. Re: Super 12 Round 8 Dont know how valuable my input will be after last weeks disaster. Was quite close witha 1 point loss in one game, and a late try in annother but... Well history would suggest that in general we should be expecting improvement from away teams playing second up in SA and NZ. ie Sharks, Cats, Reds and Crusaders. Would be interested in stats of 2nd up points start results of teams that failed to cover the points 1st up, in this situation throughout the S12s history. Dont have time to go searching though. Anyone have these?? Anyway early thoughts...with u on ACT. 2 losses in a row for NSW is typical of their recent history. Great starts to the season thenfall appart at the end. Very tough place to win in Canberra as well. $1.80 on NZ TAB at the moment. Dont know if thats been going out but am about to put some early money on that my self. Like Blues to cover v Sharks. Sharks went down in a screamiiing heap with typically error ridden game against Cheifs. Blues D has been solid recently, no tries allowed in 2 games, and this week I would expect to play more expansively in order to get the Bonus point and climb into the top 4. Won by 17 over a Cats team that I think is better than Sharks so...(team changes look +ve as well) Other than that Im struggling to get a handle on things so interested in ur guys input!! Recent News : Blues : will start with 2 specialist locks this week. C. Davis comes in for N. Williams to partnet Mika who playedlast week. Atiga back, Mulliaina to 15, and Nacewa to bench Cheifs : Gibbes back at 6, Lauaki to 8. Reds : Halfback Josh Valentine out possibly for season. replaced by Nic Berry

  6. Re: NBA Picks, Monday Like last nite with SA, tonite GS @ $5.5 just seems too much. Agree with u Sani on this one mate, will be taking the points +10.5 and a bit on the monel line as well. Also taking Houston ML over Seattle. Seattle really struggling at the moment with Lewis again looking doubtful for this game, along with Radmanovic, Fortson and Daniels. Playing it a little safe with the ML as opposed to the -2.5. Think this will probably go over as well, as Seattles D has had problems recently as well. Giving up 121 117 122 an 101 in their last 4 losses. Over 190.5 looks good. 5/10 GS +10.5 2/10 GS ML 6/10 Houston ML 5/10 Over 190.5

  7. Re: New Zealand V Sri Lanka Test Series SL all out for 211, seems like a pretty good recovery after their early struggles. With the way NZ have been with the bat recently Im happy to take the $7 on offer for the SL, hope for a few wickets early and then back the Kiwis later to cover. Also taking Flemming @ $5 for highest 1st innings score. Seems like there could b a couple early wickets, and even though Flemmings not been in great touch recently, hes still the best batsmen in the NZ side.

  8. Re: New Zealand V Sri Lanka Test Series Is this pitch as bad as the SLs are batting on it?? 86/7 at the moment. Taking Vaas for mast wickets in the match @ $3.5. (for SL) Know that Malinga bowled very well in the last test but Vaas can preform on his day, and with the pitch like it is.... Well could be a 50 / 50 call. $3.50 seems to be a bit f an overaction to the 1st test figures

  9. Re: NBA Picks, Sunday Anyone else tempted by the $5.20 on offer for SA?? 136 -134 SA in Double OT:D With GS playing the way they are plus the surge in crowd support maybe its about right but cant help thinking that thats a huge price for a good SA team trying to top the west, even without Duncan. Anyone else on it?? Taking Memphis -12.5 v Bobcats. The rest of Memphis' schedule is very tough from now on. Should be very keen to win this comfortably over Bobcats who have lost there last 7 I think. 12.5 is a lot so Medium stakes. Memphis 102 - 95:(

  10. Re: Super12 Round 7 Summary for S12 Round 7 5/10 ACT @ 1.95 NZ TAB 2/10 Sharks 12 and under @ 3.65 NZ TAB Was gona back them with higher stakes at the PS but after reconsideration of teams traveling away, to or from SA, History definitely favours the home team. Still worth a nudge with small stakes as the do have a reasonable chance and u would expect the Chiefs to keep it close if they do lose. 4/10 Cats + 20.5 @ $1.82 NZ TAB Agree with u. 20.5 is too much considering the Blues form. Big problems for the Blues at lock for this game without a specialist jumper as well. 6/10 Stormers –7.5 @ $1.85 SPORTS TAB Traveling to SA first up against a Stormers side who cant afford to drop this one if they want to progress further in the comp. Coming off a bye they should be well prepared, and the Reds have just looked ordinary this year. Flatley out as well. Staying away from the Bulls. UU could well be right, but I cant bring my self to back against a Crusaders team in such good form. GL

  11. Re: NRL Anyone interested?? OK… Last chance to post for this rounds action so here’s my quick summary: Melbourne @ Penrith Value pick of the round for me. Last year 66-14 Melbourne, and 4 of last 5 to Melbourne as well. Form favours the Storm very convincingly and with Chan back to bolster the pack, the only worry is home ground adv to Penrith. 7/10 Melbourne ML @ $2.10 Stan James Tigers v Warriors (JADE stadium NZ) For reasons stated above. 5/10 Tigers ML @ $2.38 Stan James NQ @ Cronulla NQ in good form recently, forwards should look to dominate the sharks pack. Last year NQ won the same fixture 36-10. 6/10 NQ ML @ $2.38 Stan James Manly @ St George Last 2 results at WIN Stadium St George 36 – 34 and Manly 38 – 12. St George are in terrible form and can only assume that the bookies are assuming a form turn around, a big home ground advantage, or are suede by public tendency to follow St George no matter what. Definitely value in an in form Manly. 5/10 Manly ML @ $2.50 Stan James. Parramatta @ Brisbane After last weeks embarrassment in Melbourne, Brisbane will turn it round this week. Bet of the round for me against a poor Parramatta side. Expect them to cover. 9/10 Brisbane ML @ $1.40 NZ TAB ($1.47 available Pinnacle) 3/10 Brisbane -7.5 @ $1.87 NZ TAB Cheers

  12. Re: Super12 Round 7 Weather good in Otago so on ACT @ 1.95 (medium stakes) Game 2 : Havent seen Sharks side but know that Smit is out so AJ Venter will captain. Badenhorst comes in for Smit, while Albert van den Burg is back at lock and Halstead back from virus at 13. Looks like the only changes from team which beat ACT 36 34 2 weeks ago Cheifs:Chiefs: 15. Sosene Anesi, 14. Sitiveni Sivivatu, 13. Niva Taauso, 12. David Hill, 11. Sailosi Tagicakibau, 10. Stephen Donald, 9. Byron Kelleher, 8. Steven Bates (capt), 7. Marty Holah, 6. Sione Lauaki, 5. Keith Robinson, 4. Bernie Upton, 3. Deacon Manu, 2. Aleki Lutui, 1. Michael Collins. Res: Linklater, Davison, Hohneck, Ormond, Senio, Lowen, Cashmore. Gotta figure theres value here in backing the Sharks. Coming off a BYE should be well prepared, previous to that a win over ACT in first game with new coach. Will be looking to make it 2 in a row. Big midfield experiment in Cheifs line up with Hill at 12 Taauso at 13 and with the yound Stephen Donald making a start at 10 there could be some gaps. Will leave a lot of defensive responisibility for Holah coming out of lineouts and scrums etc which could limit his potential to get around the park and create turnovers. Think theres a bit of value in the Sharks ML now $2.50 and points start -5.5. Will wait till tomorrow to confirm bet.

  13. http://tvnz.co.nz/view/sport_story_skin/489361%3fformat=html Just saw this article a minute a go. Hope its true. Would love to see him back on the field again. Regardless of how people judge his rugby talents this guys been through absolute hell with his Kidney disease and deserves more than anyone to have annother crack at pro rugby. Theres gona be a lot of hype as to how he'll go and if he's got a chance to get back into the ABs. Personally, although I rate him by far the most explosive player rugbys ever seen, and at the top of his game hed always be first pick in my team, I cant see how he'll be able to have the speed to make it as an international winger again. S12 I give him a good shot at but... Maybe annother position?? Doubt it, but u never know. Will be behind him 100% though!! 頑張ってね!! Wonder what u guys think!?
  14. Re: New Zealand V Sri Lanka Test Series NZ 128 for 5 with Flemming back in the shed retired hurt. watching over the net so dont know if hell b back or not. Assuming not, then with a lead of 191 and effectively 6 down and 66 overs remaining, SL definately in with a chance. Light could b a factor later on but the SL batsmen will make that call so... $7 on NZ tab worth a shot for me. Only need one more wicket and they r into the tail. small stakes SL win $7

  15. Re: NBA Thursday Small stakes on Houston -5.5 @ LA. Motivation a big factor as Houston desperate to get a roll on before the playoffs, and hold on to 6th place hence avoiding a first round v SA. Yao and Mutombo will be too much for Grant and the old boy Divac. Think Kobe will play but not 100% sure, even if he does I doubt hell be givin 100%, + Lakers seem to be wanting to give everyone a run these days so hopefuly itll blow out a bit towards the end. Cheers Nick

  16. Thought Id give it a go! Will keep it short in case there is no interest! Round 5 Penrith v Melbourne 1.80 1.95 West Tigers v Warriors 2.30 1.57 (home game for Wests but being played at JADE stadium Christchurch NZ) Cronulla v North Queensland 1.70 2.05 St. George v Manly 1.60 2.25 Brisbane v Paramatta 1.37 2.90 Canberra v Sydney City 2.35 1.55 Souths v Newcastle 2.15 1.65 (home game for Souths but being played on the Central Coast) Odds from NZ TAB At first glance I reckon ML value in Tigers (won same venue 50 4 last year and are comin into this one in top form, while the Warriors have proven to be a good side to back agains since their finals appearance 2 seasons ago) NQ (Again a side in top form coming up against a side that I beleive will struggle to compete in the forwards) and Manly (well you just have to look at St Gs recent run t realize its a bit strange that theyve been made favs) Also like the look of Brisbane and Sydney. Although the odds arent particullay inviting for the chooks. Cheers guys, addd your thoughts if u can!!
