  1. Re: Fri: 1.30 JCB Triumph Hurdle I backed one today in this race, Dildar at 20/1. The last two years we have not seen the winner of the race until February and that is likely to be that case for Dildar who is likely to take the same path as Zarkandar did in 2011. He was a high class performer on the flat, beat Meandre and has the profile of a Nicholls horse who will be a classy sort. At the odds he is worth the punt.

  2. Re: Thurs: 3.20 Ladbrokes World Hurdle As stated in the Mares thread I have a treble on including Big Bucks (and The Fly). What more can you say, he is class and his Long Walk win this seaosn was maybe one of my favourites. Every year people pick a horse to take him on with and he always delivers. This year it seems to be Oscar Whiskey who is 11/2 second favourite after being confirmed for the race and he is a class horse but has the stamina to prove and I can't see him being in Big Bucks' class anyway. One day a time will come and he will be on the decline but based on his runs so far it won't be 2012 Nicholls says he is so laid back he is hard to get fit so we might see him in the Cleeve Hurdle this year as well before the Festival.

  3. Re: Thurs: 2.40 Ryanair Chase I backed Rubi Light for this race last year and did the same this year EW at 25/1. He is a classy horse, had the beating of Sizing until he unseated (eventually remounted to finish 3rd), he was then very impressive in the John Durkan with his relentless galloping before finishing second in the Lexus behind Synchronised, and although I backed him that day I was pleased he didn't win as if he did it would have likely been the Gold Cup route. It is now confirmed the Ryanair in which he finished third last year but he made a blunder 3 out that hampered his chances. His jumping is better now, he was excellent in the John Durkan and I think he will go close. I still think the 8s now is a good bet and might go in again. 401517_10150585268126049_648296048_11032604_1215357765_n.jpg

  4. Re: Wed 5.15: Wetherbys Champion Bumper A lot of trainers do not like this race, I personally do as a spectacle. British trainers have won the last two with Cheltenian and Cue Card, but the Irish on the whole have an excellent record in the race, and I backed one today in the race, Venture Capital at 16/1. He has raced once in December but the form of the Bumper looks very good with the third going on to easily beat Champagne Fever (third in that race also hacked up NTO), who is somehow shorter with some in the betting for the race. He looks an early value call to me for the race.

  5. Re: Wed: 2.40 RSA Steeple Chase If Grands Crus goes for this it is at his mercy in my opinion but I backed Sir Des Champs at the start of the season at 25/1 and I was encouraged when Mullins said the other day on ATR he was one of 3 he was most looking forward to seeing at the Festival. His two runs in Ireland haven't really told us much yet, although Knockferina was giving him a race last time until she jumped out towards the end. He jumps well though and the vibes are good, and of course he is already a festival winner. He is very lightly raced and there should be a lot more to come and he is another I really looking forward to seeing race. Ig Grands Crus does go the Gold Cup route then the race is wide open with Bobs Worth the likely favourite but he has not really convinced me massively although he has had a breathing op and clearly has class. Bog Warrior is hype and will need it to be testing I think. Is Champion Court definately going for this, as he could be a price?

  6. Re: Wed: 2.05 Neptune Investment Management Novice's Hurdle Now Fingal Bay has been confirmed for this race I have had a decent EW bet at 5/1. I really like him, some have said they weren't that impressed in the Challow, well I was the way Ballyrock came beside him and he found more, Big Bucks esq. I think in recent times the Challow has been a poor guide for the winner but it is important to focus at the head of the betting and for a horse who won or came second LTO. The way he won at Cheltenham in the Grade 2 race was very impressive, he completely smashed the second last but recovered instantly to leave them all behind, and he looked in trouble at Sandown when Simonsig was travelling best but he finds so much for pressure and he won comfortably in the end. Hobbs said he is potentially the best horse he has ever trained which is high praise and I can't wait to see him run at the festival.

  7. Re: Tues: 4.40 David Nicholson Mares Hurdle No real need to look past Quevega really in this, but I have her in a treble with Big Bucks and Hurricain Fly at around 19/1 which I think is still a similar price now. Plan as usual is to go straight to the Mares then Punchestown as usual. To be honest the 6/4 on offer is tempting, but I am not sure she will be much shorter on the day, although Unaccompanied will probably not run and I'm not sure about Voler La Vedette as I am not sure the owners are keen for her to run at Cheltenham for some reason, which means the race will be very weak.

  8. Re: Tues: 2.05 Arkle Challenge Trophy For the Arkle I am on Sprinter Sacre at 10s, I was waiting to get paid at the end of November to back him! Word was he was special and each interview I saw when asked Henderson just had a huge grin on his face. His third in the Supreme was a good one, especially as he pulled the whole way round. He beat nothing at Doncaster but his jumping looked good, and the way he dispatched Peddlers at the times looked class but Peddlers did wrap one early and had problems, even though I think SS has the beating of PC, that was not a true run from Peddlers. Now he is 5/2 I can see why people are looking elsewhere for value but to me he looks a real superstar.

  9. Re: Tues: 1.30 Supreme Novices Hurdle I have backed Dylan Ross in this a while ago afterhis win at Fairyhouse, and the form of the race was working out really well. Even when he lost to Il Fenemino Meade said he was surprised as he thought Dylan Ross would win. He ran much better last time just missing out to Cash and Go who is still a much shorter price but he will want good ground and a strong pace which he is likely to get in the Supreme. I actually got him added to the Betfair market and got prices from 40 to 50 for him so I am pretty please and although he is not a 2111 type horse I still think he has a chance in the race and I am unlikely to back anyhting else now unless he doesn't go.

  10. Re: Antepost Flat Racing

I wasn't buying in to the Camelot hype before the RP Trophy but I was at Donny that day and it looked the real deal' date=' a lot of confidence on track for it that day. I wonder if they'll run it in a Derby trial in Ireland or bring it over for the Dante?[/quote'] Same here, I was shocked at his price but it was some performance in the end. Will you be at the Lincoln again this year?
  11. Re: Antepost Flat Racing I have already backed Harbour Watch and Born To Sea for the Guineas but nothing else. I am just glad Harbour Watch is back on track after his setback last year. Looking forward to the classic generation this year, some really nice 2 year olds last year.

  12. Re: Ante Post Jumps Thread 2011-2012 Jump City is a dog though I think. The way Darlan was rode and the comments after made me think he is much better and they are playing him down to keep a bit of a price about him, but I still wouldn't back. Happy to stick with Dylan Ross who will appreciate the quicker ground for now but might have a little on Mono Man too, form is solid and should improve next time for it and considering his price vs the others he is looks worth an EW play. Geraghty has a solid choice though in the Supreme, a hard one

  13. Re: Ante Post Jumps Thread 2011-2012 Urbain De Sivola at 20s looks big to me, beat Ranjaan easily and he is shorter in the market. Won't be playing until neaer the time anyway, looking forward to seeing Minsk, and Baby Run again As you would expect Henderson, Nicholls, King and Hobbs dominate the race though in recent years.
