  1. Re: SunDog's First Million Well, at least the world didn't go totally mad over the weekend and Arsenal got their 2-0 win. Start Bank: 100 pts Current Bank: 162.52 pts Profit/Loss: + 62.52 pts I usually stay away from the UEFA Cup, the matches are too unpredictable and a lot of teams don't take it seriously, which surprises me as it's all the European action most of these teams are going to get. However, I like the look of Everton tonight and I reckon Panatanikos should get something from the Rangers match. Bet: 6pts Draw or Panatanikos @ 4/6 + Everton DNB @ 1/4 (Double) 2 pts Draw or Panatanikos + PSV @ 1/4 + Everton @ 8/11 (Treble) 2 pts Draw or Panatanikos + PSV + Everton DNB + Werder Bremen@ 1/3 (Fourfold)

  2. Re: SunDog's First Million Well, in fairness, I'm probably not the only person licking their wounds after that result yesterday. Anyway, after that, I'm taking it easy with tonight's bet. Start Bank: 100 pts Current Bank: 159.57 pts Profit/Loss: +59.57 pts Bet: 6 pts Arsenal @ 1/3 1 pt Arsenal - 1 goal @ 19/20

  3. Re: SunDog's First Million Ok, a few nice winners yesterday... just a pity the sorry Hammers couldn't make it a clean sweep, but can't be greedy, it's always nice to win a few quid. Start Bank: 100 pts Current Bank: 181.57 pts Profit/Loss: + 81.57 pts Like the rest of the world I reckon United will win the Manchester derby. However, unlike the rest of the world, I don't reckon they're going to give City a hiding. I reckon they'll win by 1-2 goals. Bet365, though, won't let me back a winning margin of 2 goals and predicting correct scores is a quick way to the poor house. Bet: 20 pts Man U @ 2/7 2 pts Man U -1 goal @ 5/6

  4. Re: SunDog's First Million Well, the Villa bet seems to be pretty safe so I'll go ahead with this afternoon's bets. 8 pts Boro DNB @ 4/11 / Sunderland DNB @ 1/2 (Double) 8 pts Sunderland DNB / West Ham DNB @ 1/4 (Double) 8 pts Boro DNB / West Ham DNB (Double) 4 pts Boro DNB/Sunderland DNB/West Ham DNB (Treble) 1 pt Boro DNB/Sunderland DNB/West Ham DNB/Everton @ 8/15 (Fourfold) 1 pt Boro DNB/Sunderland DNB/West Ham DNB/Bournemouth DNB @ 13/8 The last one is a little cheeky I know - I'm basing the Bournemouth bet on the fact that they beat Forest last weekend, Luton keep losing and I hope going into administration might give Bournemouth a kick up the ass. Ok, not entirely rational reasoning but it's only 1 pt so we'll give it a go.

  5. Re: SunDog's First Million Ouch! Looks like the money was just dying to jump out of my pockets and into the bookie's last weekend. Fulham win their first game in 3 months against a Villa team who only didn't have to lose. Start Bank: 100 pts Current Bank: 152.59 pts Profit/Loss: +52.59 pts Ok - let's give Villa a chance to redeem themselves. Not only do they owe me for last week, but I was up for them in the 1982 European Cup Final... that's gotta be worth something. :unsure Newcastle have to eventually start picking up points but it's a big ask today even though Villa haven't actually won in a month. We'll take a chance and back Villa on the draw no bet. Bet: 9 pts Villa DNB @ 1/3

  6. Re: SunDog's First Million I'm glad I'm not a Newcastle supporter - life must be a series of crushing disappointments. That bet being a non-runner, I'll stick 7 pts on Villa to beat Fulham who are surely due a win... but surely not today. Bet: 7 pts Villa or draw @ 2/7

  7. Re: SunDog's First Million Good ole Crouchy saves our bacon and a day that looked like being a disaster at one stage ends up with just a 5 pt loss. More importantly - lesson learned and no more mad bets were one team can ruin everything. Start Bank: 100 pts Current Bank: 162.59 pts Profit/Loss: +62.59 pts Maybe I'm being a little optimistic but I reckon that Newcastle should get their first points under Keegan today - after all, Boro's away form is even worse than Newcastle's home form. I'll put a couple of quid on a double with Villa too. Bet: 10 pts Newcastle DNB @ 4/9 3 pts Newcastle DNB/Villa or draw @ 2/7

  8. Re: SunDog's First Million Well, Chelsea didn't bite me on the ass but Reading certainly did. I only realised when Bolton scored that I stood to make a healthy loss if Reading went down. Hopefully there's a lesson learned in there. :eyes Start Bank: 100 pts Current Bank: 145.18 pts Profit/Loss: +45.18 pts Gonna put a few quid on the Liverpool/Sunderland match. Crouch is playing so I reckon there's a good chance he might score... better chance than in most matches anyway. Bet: 10 pts Liverpool @ 3/10 1 pt Liverpool -1 goal @ 10/11 1 pt Crouch to score @ 6/4

  9. Re: SunDog's First Million Well, not bad I guess, at least Chelsea did the business even if Liverpool didn't. Start Bank: 100 pts Total Bank: 167.18 pts Profit/Loss: +67.18 pts Ok - today's bets: 5 pts: Chelsea to win by 1 goal @ 13/5 5 pts: Portsmouth/Chelsea draw @ 13/5 10 pts: Blackburn DNB @ 4/6 / Reading DNB @ 4/9 (Double) 2 pts: Chelsea by 1 goal/Blackburn DNB/Reading DNB (Treble) 2 pts: Portsmouth/Chelsea draw/Blackburn DNB/Reading DNB (Treble) 2 pts: Birmingham @ 8/13 / Blackburn DNB / Reading DNB (Treble) 2 pts: Birmingham/Blackburn DNB/Reading DNB/ Italy (+16 pts @1/1) (Fourfold) Now, I know nothing about rugby apart from the fact that they get points for hitting the ball wide, which seems madness to me. However, someone in the know assured me Italy should cover the handicap so we'll give it a go. Also, I was tempted to go for a cover bet of Chelsea winning 2-0 rather than drawing... hope that one doesn't come back to bite me on the ass.

  10. Re: SunDog's First Million Well, if Bolton could have put the ball in the net we'd have had a clean sweep. As it is, 36 pts profit is a good evening's work. Now if only it could be like that every night. :) Start Bank: 100 pts Total Bank: 163.68 pts Profit/Loss: +63.68 pts Tonight's bets are purely for a bit of fun, wouldn't be hugely confident of them coming in, but I guess ya never know. Bet: 2 pts: Chelsea to win by 1 goal @ 11/4 2 pts: Liverpool to beat West Ham 2-1 @ 15/2

  11. Re: SunDog's First Million ...never in doubt, that one. Start Bank: 100 pts Total Bank: 127.22 pts Profit/Loss: +27.22 pts Tonight, I don't see any reason why Arsenal won't put a couple past Newcastle again, especially at home. I also reckon home advantage should be good enough for Bolton and possibly Sunderland against fellow strugglers Fulham and Birmingham. Bet: 10 pts: Arsenal -1 & -1.5 @ 1.68 10 pts: Bolton DNB @ 1.36 / Sunderland DNB @ 1.53. Double 5 pts: Arsenal -1&-1.5 / Bolton DNB / Sunderland DNB. Treble 2.5 pts: Arsenal -1&-1.5 / Bolton DNB / S'land DNB / Boro DNB @ 1.4 / Barnsley @ 2.1. Fivefold ...ok, a bit cheeky that fivefold, but hey - it's Tuesday and I'm bored. :lol

  12. Re: SunDog's First Million Start Bank: 100 pts Total Bank: 121.88 pts Profit/Loss: +21.88 pts I was thinking of backing Man U to win 2-1, 3-1 or draw 1-1... but I'm not prepared to throw too much money at this one. Therefore, I'm going to back both teams to score. Bet: 8 pts: Man U/Spurs - both teams to score @ 4/6

  13. OK, I'm not greedy and I will stop at a million... promise! This is bascially the bets I was doing when I hijacked Changmania's Will Stop At 6 Figures thread, so I'm going to paste those in this post and continue from there. My aim is to try and get somewhere between double and treble my original bank of 100 pts by the end of the season so I can do this one properly next season. The rest of this post is just my previous bets, second post has today's. 18-01-2008, 22:33 Re: Will stop at 6 figures Ok, Changmania, since you haven't been on this thread for a while, I'm gonna hijack it for a bit until you come back and kick me off. Basically my premise is this - I had a bit of a glory hunt going myself, as I mentioned in my earlier posts. It actually did quite nicely for me... best strategy to date, believe it or not. However, with the spending I did over xmas I found myself needing to cash in on my winnings to pay my daughter's school fees. I took the money out of my Bet365 account since it seemed to have the worst odds for the bets I was doing. Anyway, the upshot of it all is my daughter's still being educated and I've got a hundred quid lying in a Bet 365 account that I couldn't be arsed doing much of anything with. So what I'm going to do is have the same kind of glory hunt with it. The rules to this are that there are no rules... I'm going to bet as much or as little as I want to on singles, doubles, trebles... but probably a mixture of the three. Also, it's probably going to be just a weekend thing since I'm going to concentrate on the premier league as the other leagues in England are too unpredictable. Oh - and, of course - the odds are obviously going to be whatever the odds Bet365 give. Anyway, that's the boring bit over with. This weekend's bets are looking like probably 3 singles of Blackburn DNB @ 1.25 Newcastle @ 1.7 Spurs @ 1.44 3 x 5 pts singles, 3 x 2.5pt doubles, 1 x 2.5 pt treble. 19-01-2008, 14:09 Re: Will stop at 6 figures Ok, change of heart this morning. After thinking it over I've put the following bets on from a starting bank of 100 points: 2.5 pts - Chelsea to win by 1 goal @ 5/2 2.5 pts - B'ham/Chelsea draw @ 11/4 4 pts - Spurs @ 4/9 1 pt - Spurs -1 goal @ 6/5 2.5 pts - Newcastle @ 8/11 2.5 pts - over 2.5 goals Newc/Bolton @ 19/20 1.25 pts - Chelsea to win by 1 goal/Spurs (double) 1.25 pts - Chelsea draw/Spurs (double) 1.25 pts - Chelsea by 1 goal/ Newcastle (double) 1.25 pts - Chelsea draw/Newcastle over 2.5 goals (double) 2 pts - Spurs/Newcastle (double) .5 pts - Spurs -1 goal Newcastle over 3 goals (@5/2) (double) 1.25 pts - Chelsea by 1 goal/Spurs/Newcastle (treble) 1.25 pts - Chelsea draw/Spurs/Newcastle (treble) 20-01-2008, 12:02 Re: Will stop at 6 figures Start Bank: 100 pts Staked: 25 pts Return: 23.05 pts Total Bank: 98.05 Profit/Loss: -1.95 Dear oh dear... if Keegan can't inspire Newcastle to beat Bolton on his debut match they really are in trouble... unless it's his tactical nous they hired him for. Anyway, lesson learned - stay away from the Newcastles of this world. Also, there's something wrong with a system where you get 2 out of 3 right but still lose money. I think I see what the problem is and it's why I never really used the Bet365 account for this type of bet. Basically, it works when all the bets are around evens, which I used to get by backiing a team to win by either 1 goal or 2 (both around 13/5) and split the stake. However, Bet 365 only let you back 1 goal or "2 or more" so I'll have to look at other ways of staking. Anyhow, onwards and upwards. I really can't see Everton losing to Wigan today and recent history suggests a tight game between City and West Ham. Therefore, today's bet is 10 pts - Everton DNB @ 8/13 3 pts - City to win by 1 goal @ 11/4 3 pts - City/WH draw @ 23/10 2 pts - Everton DNB/City by 1 goal (double) 2 pts - Everton DNB/City-WH draw (double) 20-01-2008, 19:09 Re: Will stop at 6 figures That's more like it. Although it looks like that City bet was skidding on the seat of its pants a bit. Ok - a return of 36.71 for a 20pt bet means Start Bank: 100 pts Total Bank: 114.78 Profit/Loss: +14.78 22-01-2008, 19:10 Re: Will stop at 6 figures Ok - couldn't find any bets in last night's Liverpool/Villa match but I've found one for tonight. Although they beat Norwich last week, Bury's form has been pretty dire for a while and I like the look of Bradford, who've been doing pretty well, to beat them. However, I'll hedge my bets and back them draw no bet. Oh - and a cheeky 2 pt double with Arsenal to win in extra time... these things do happen. Bet: 9pts - Bradford DNB @10/11 2pts - Bradford DNB @ 10/11; Arsenal to win in Extra time @ 10/1. Double. Yesterday, 14:11 Re: Will stop at 6 figures Hmmm... an 88th minute equaliser makes the Bury/Bradford game a non-runner. As for Spurs/Arsenal... well, if you're gonna get it wrong get it spectacularly wrong - that's what I say. Start Bank: 100 pts Total Bank: 112.78 pts Profit/Loss: + 12.78 pts I hate the FA Cup, it's bad news from a betting perspective. And if they got rid of it you could have another 2 or 3 teams in the Premier League. However, there's one game in the PL today and I reckon I'll back Villa to beat Blackburn DNB. Villa could well have taken the points at Anfield the other night and Blackburn are blowing a bit hot and cold. Might back Chelsea to win by 1 goal later, but we'll see how the Villa bet does first. Bet: 11 pts - Villa DNB @ 4/11 Yesterday, 18:10 Re: Will stop at 6 figures Well, 1-1 means we neither win nor lose. However, I was watching that match and right from the start I was a little concerned for this bet so I guess I can't complain. It's halftime in the Chelsea/Wigan match and I can get Chelsea for 10/11 which seems pretty good to me as they look definitely the better side although Wigan have been no mugs. So... 10 pts: Chelsea @ 10/11

  21. Re: Will stop at 6 figures Dunno if you're still doing this one, Changmania... probably not, judging by how long ago your last post was, but I've been keeping up my one and think I might be on the way to having this one sussed (famous last words and all that). Basically I've been backing teams on a DNB basis. Yeah, the odds aren't great but I see it as a season long thing so I'm quite happy to win bit by bit... sure is better than losing. ;) Basically, unless I'm 100% convinced a team is gonna win, I put the majority of the money on the DNB (the percentage obviously depends on how likely I reckon it is they'll win). Week to week it hasn't looked like a lot but already I've made more money from this system than any other. Basically, as I said in my last post, patience is a punter's best friend. Anyway, hopefully you've hacked it yourself and are too busy sunning yourself in the Bahamas now instead of wasting your time on a Glory Hunter's forum. :lol

  22. Re: Will stop at 6 figures Very similar to something I'm doing at the moment, Changmania, called "100 - 1 million in 20 easy steps" (I'm already writing the self-help book:dude) . Thing is, I'm betting extermely conservatively on this one, ie no bets for me last weekend. I've got Liverpool -1 @ 4/7 tomorrow so you can see where I'm coming from. Best of luck with it, but I guess what I'm saying is you're probably better off spreading it over the season and avoiding the temptation of betting EVERY weekend.

  23. Re: African Nations Cup Winner and Tournament Bets I think there's real value on Guinea to beat Zambia. While I haven't been able to watch any of these games, I've followed them all on the BBC's live text (hardly ideal, I know, but as good as an in-depth match report) and Guinea really impressed me against South Africa - to the point where I'm gonna put a decent punt on them winning the group. By the same token, South Africa seem to be a pretty poor side and if Tunisia don't beat them I'm gonna give up betting on football and try my luck on the horses.
