  1. Re: Premier League > Thursday May 8th There's a couple of outcomes that stand out to me as being over-priced here. Adrian Lewis v Robert Thornton - Thornton win 7/4 William Hill Lewis has been struggling recently in the Premier League, only winning once since that very impressive UK Open win in early March. You get the feeling he could turn the corner, and was fairly solid against Peter Wright last time. Here he faces a potentially tougher time of it though in terms of a confident player with no pressure. Thornton won a double at the weekend in Wigan and faces Lewis here knowing he can't reach the top four. So the pressure is off and that's when Thornton can prove to be an extremely tough player and a high scorer. He recorded an average of 104 last week beating Chisnall and is over-priced for me. Raymond Van Barneveld v Michael Van Gerwen - Van Barneveld win 9/4 William Hill Having already beat his opponent in the league this season, Barneveld is a nice price here to once again get the better of his fellow countryman Van Gerwen. He has been in very good form and seems to be in good spirits off the oche, something which is always important with Van Barneveld in-particular. He can go top of the table with a win and will be fired up. MVG lost to Gary Anderson last week and knows he's in for another battle here. He could of course show up and through some unstoppable darts but I just feel he's a bit too short.

  2. Re: BBOTD > Wednesday May 7th Chester 2.45 - Communicator - 1pt win 10/1 Bet365 BOG There's more than a few with obvious appeal in this very competitive handicap. For me Communicator is one of the more interesting runners and is at a fair enough price. Andrew Balding's runner has put in some good performances already this year and should be tuned up unlike some of the other entries. He's placed in a couple of all-weather handicaps, including 3rd in the valuable marathon conditions stakes at Lingfield. He's still on a fair mark and has form at the track. Being drawn in 2nd is a big plus and Oisin Murphy is on board, someone who is proving to be a very useful jockey.

  3. Re: World Cup 2014 > Qualify from Group Betting Main bet in this market for me at present is Chile to qualify, probably at the expense of Holland rather than Spain. Best price 6/5 at BetVictor just now. I watched an interview with Jorge Sampaoli and he is defiant that the team will play the way we've came accustomed to and not give up. They can be a terrific side to watch, and a difficult one to stop. They have many top players like Vidal, Sanchez, Matias Fernandez, Isla, Carmona, Medel, Eduardo Vargas and more, all at a very good age range. I watched an interview with Van Gaal and he came across rather pessimistic and only gave his side a 20% chance of reaching the quarters. Already speaking about an opening game defeat to Spain. I don't think they're side is good enough at the moment and it may be a couple of tournaments before they're challenging at the front again.

  4. Re: Chinese Grand Prix > Race Winner Betting I think we'll see a relatively easy win for Lewis Hamilton tomorrow, and it's entirely possible Rosberg will complete a one-two. For me Ricciardo has showed so far he's very able in this car and I think he can take the 3rd spot on the podium. The dry may not play completely into his hands though I'm not sure there's a lot of other cars which can go better at present either. He seems to be having more luck and reliability than his team-mate and if there's no car issues, he ought to be amongst the top boys here. Ricciardo podium finish 6/4 BetFred

  5. Re: Dubai Masters > Ante-Post Betting Had a look at the prices on offer for this at present and made my own tissue. Not a lot of bookies have priced this up so far though a few have. For me there's some value in James Wade (14/1 Bwin), Van Barneveld (12/1 youwin) and Simon Whitlock (33/1 youwin). Wadey was very aggrieved about the decision to leave him out of the Premier League and this presents a very good chance for him to state his intent for the rest of the year. He played fairly well in defeat at the UK Open last month, losing in the fifth round to eventual runner-up Terry Jenkins. He reached the semi-finals in the inaugural edition of this competition and will aim to go better. Barneveld lost in the final at this competition last year and is a nice price at present. He's often hard to judge and can go long spells on his best form or the opposite. He's been playing well in the Premier League this year and tends to enjoy these formats. Whitlock experienced problems off the oche this year and it was reflected with this performances on it. He did begin to play better as he resolved some issues it was too late in terms of the league campaign though. He'll aim for this big prize and will be sure to prove his place near top of the circuit.

  6. Re: Premier League Darts > Thursday April 17th Gary Anderson v Adrian Lewis - Draw 15/4 Sporting Bet Gary Anderson has been playing very well as of late and the Flying Scotsman heads into this clash in good spirit on and off the oche. The win against Peter Wright last week was pretty straightforward and his general play over the league campaign has been as consistent as anyone in the running. He's got the Scottish crowd behind him here and will be hard to break. Lewis on the other hand has struggled at times this year though lately has been getting pretty close. He recorded a pretty good average in defeat to Taylor last week and knows he has to start earning points before the top dogs pull away. He beat Anderson in Nottingham already, and if he deals with this crowd he can run him close. I think a draw is entirely possible here. Lewis didn't handle the Glasgow crowd admittedly but the way Wright was pumped up for that clash was pivotal as well. Michael Van Gerwen v Phil Taylor - Taylor win 6/4 Ladbrokes Phil Taylor thinks MVG is worried about this round and he may be right with the Dutchman playing The Power as well as Lewis. Taylor is truly back to normal and, although he may not admit it, he'll be hungry for revenge from the 7-0 humiliation in Liverpool. Phil is five points behind MVG and says he wants to be 1st or 2nd by the end, no lower. MVG sits atop of table and of course has to be respected. It's hard to dismiss him as he can show up and throw darts that nobody can keep up with, and he should have this Scottish crowd behind him. I personally made Taylor a bit shorter priced so I'm happy to take the 6/4 on offer and feel he may just get the better of the Dutchman. Peter Wright v Dave Chisnall - Wright win evens William Hill Peter Wright has looked like faltering lately and hasn't quite been the player that started this campaign since the bust up with MVG. This presents an opportunity to gain another important two points as he plays Dave Chisnall. Chisnall is one of the best scorers in the game yet, as we seen last week, his doubles can really let him down. He'll have a tough crowd to deal with tonight and a pumped up Peter Wright. These two drew on week two though Peter Wright was well below his best then and should make amends here. He'll be desperate to keep up the pressure on the two above and he can't afford to lose here if that's his aim.

  7. Re: Premier League > Thursday April 10th These games seem pretty tightly priced up. Even on my own odds there was no difference in three of the five clashes. There's two selections I'd have made shorter though. Dave Chisnall v Van Barneveld - Barneveld Evens William Hill | Barneveld 7-5 Chisnall 9/2 Ladbrokes Typically a player I struggle to catch in mood, Barneveld is a fair price against last weeks survivor Dave Chisnall. The Dutchman has hit some good form and recorded some fine averages over the past few weeks. He's not been winning, drawing the last five, nonetheless Chizzy may present the opportunity of the two points due the his dodgy doubles. Barney has a double as he plays Wright in the last match of the night so a good start is imperative. Chisnall was under pressure last week against fellow relegation threatened Wes Newton and delivered with a 7-5 victory. The intensity is down a notch or two this week and it may play into his hands or against him. He is consistently a very high scorer but his doubles can really let him down and if Barneveld is on song it may prove to be his downfall. Phil Taylor v Adrian Lewis - Taylor -2.5 6/4 Bet365 I've expressed my slight doubts about Lewis over this shorter format nowadays and he's been far from convincing on more than one occasion this league campaign. He got off to a good start and has won three of his nine games. The first two week wins came against a couple of strugglers though. Whitlock had a very poor campaign, suffering from problems off the oche, and was the first to be relegated and as well publicised at the time, Taylor's early league form was surprisingly uncharacteristic. The other win came against Gary Anderson 7-5. As mentioned The Power's early form wasn't what we've been accustomed to, he's sure made amends since though and is back to the player we knew prior to last years World Championships. His averages have been top notch lately and he's making it look easy again. He'll be determined to keep winning and should beat Lewis at judging by what we've seen.

  8. Re: Bahrain Grand Prix Two out of two. Thought both cars may have been hampered with the safety car, Perez showed some great pace and Hulkenberg done great with a car problem. Absolutely fantastic race. Can't remember the last one I enjoyed as much as that. Some excellent wheel-to-wheel action.

  9. Re: Bahrain Grand Prix Bahrain Grand Prix - Nico Hulkenberg top six finish - 2pt 7/4 Bet365 Sergio Perez podium finish - 1pt 7/2 Ladbrokes It was a straight forward qualifying session for Mercedes as expected and they ought to go on and record a race one-two. I feel the Force India's should have some good race pace. Nico Hulkenberg already hinted that the cooler conditions suit his teams car and he felt that a higher qualy position was entirely achievable, blaming a wide run on turn eleven as his downfall. Sergio Perez was very content with the car and optimistic ahead of the weekend. Red Bull, for me, may have a challenging race as Vettel has experienced continual downshift issues and Ricciardo starts down the grid. There's a few above Nico on the track that really should finish ahead of the German, yet I feel the 7/4 on offer is a decent enough price. It really should be straight-forward at the very front of the grid, p3-10 is very interesting tomorrow and Force India have a good car for the top six.

  10. Re: Bahrain Grand Prix Betfair offering odds for top three qualifying BH. I can't decide on a bet yet. I thought going into the weekend Williams and Force India could be players. Mercedes appear to be comfortably ahead of the field though and ought to get a one-two here. Ferrari look to have a solid enough car but I can't see them upsetting Mercedes just yet. Vettel has some problems with his car in practice and generally struggled, Ricciardo of course facing a grid penalty. May play on a points finish for the Williams cars, the odds aren't very enticing at present as there's still potential for car problems..

  11. Re: Serie A > April 5th - 7th Inter Milan v Bologna - Bologna AH +1 - 13/10 Bet365 To put it bluntly, Inter cannot be trusted at present and I'll look to oppose them here. At this moment and time Inter do not merit short odds on against any side in Serie A. Yes they have talent and ought to beat Bologna but they're not showing in on the field. One positive is they are edging towards a fit squad which will be a relief for Mazzarri. They should turn the corner soon, it may be here, but I don't know if they can smash a side at present. Bologna travel without Della Rocca, but he's the only absentee. Their form isn't great though there's no pressure on them here and they won this tie last season 1-0. They sit only one point above relegation so they are fighting and won't be scared of Inter.
