  1. Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2015? Hope to be back pokering in 2015, albeit on a very low key basis again, at least initially. Health issues may still limit the number of live events I'm able to attend and may go through frequent inactivity spells.

    1. Meet up with as many PL members as possible for beer, banter & bellylaughs
    2. Live: Will try to qualify cheaply into at least one each of 25/25, GUKPT & GPS tours, health willing, maybe a UKIPT too but depends on locations. Very much doubt we'll see Poker Mag tour this year but will try to support as many as possible if they run.
    3. Online: May try to develop my cash game more, always been the worse aspect of my game and any improvement may help to refine tournament play further. The odd Sunday Majors from satellites are also probably achievable.
    4. Work on reducing frustration & tilt. Yep the perennial tricking one!
    5. Any profit is a bonus but would be aiming for 4 figures again subject to finding sufficient time to play.

Would be nice to get my first official Hendon flag (online GPS title & GUKPT Sats didn't count) and Vegas with $1k & $500 events now is tempting but these might not be realistic just yet. Good luck everyone in whatever you're looking to achieve this year, large or small. :ok

  2. Re: What do you hope to achieve in poker in 2014? Nicely done Rhino, well done on your accomplishments and best of luck for the new year. :ok Poker-wise 2014 was a bit of a rest year for me, first for many a year and didn't make it to many live events either. Was up £586 profit in October when I last looked and played very little since then so not a bad return for a largely inactive year. Highlights (or perhaps Mediumlights this year ;) ):

    • £220 Grosvenor 25/25 Seat won from freeroll - Out end of day 1
    • €150 Coral Sunday Masters Token won from beat the team - Didn't cash
    • £125 DTD/WPT125 Seat won - Out online day 1
    • £130 cashed in from a freebet
    • Fell just short of a £3k WPT(UK) seat from pennyrolls
    • And of course railing PL friends in their IPO, WPT, GUKPT & 25/25 exploits.

  3. Re: Punters Lounge Oscars 2014 Great way to say how proud we are of all our friends achievements this year of which there have been many. Only need to look through some of the threads to see just how many superb performances achieved both live and online. Many a magazine promotion won, packages to live tours secured and live titles won. Don't forget to get involved and nominate your favourites. [/subtle bump]

    • London (January 20-25), £770 buy in
    • Nottingham (April 13th to 20th)
    • Marbella (June 15th to 21st)
    • Bristol (Aug 6th to 9th)
    • Isle of Man (Oct 1st to 4th)
    • Edinburgh (Nov 19th to 22nd)

More legs due to be announced soon. Widely expected to include Edinburgh, Nottingham, Bristol, Dublin and Marbella. = Now included. Important Change: PokerStars.UK users will not able to buy in to live events via the client.

  4. Re: PP Mag Winner $1k added promo

Keep heart Si, it will come/come back, even variance can't be consistently bad for too long a spell. :ok
Oh if I had a pound for every correct prediction I made this year, I'd have in the region of..... err £1 :D But my belief in the awesomeness of fellow PL'ers would run into many '000s. Well done guys, brilliant as always :nana
  5. Re: Do you think poker software like poker tracker has ruined online poker ? I think it has certainly sped up the growing profit/loss gap between regs and recreational players, although a lot of other factors involved in the general decline in traffic (lack of competition/choice of networks, regulation of various country markets, changes in tournament formats and for live events the rising costs of traveling/accomodation) to name just a few. Recs need to win sometimes to keep the ecosystem balanced, so it certainly isn't helping. I personally think HUD are only useful for cash game players where sufficient volume of hands can be accumulated on the regs. I really don't think you can use the software effectively in tournament play due to the many different ways a player will play the same range at different stages of a tournament or stack size and lack of sufficient volume to base decisions on. I've never been keen on their use, to the point of morally objecting to the allowance of them, but I know a lot of players do use them, afterall poker is a game of small edges. After trying them for a while I found any worthwhile size of hands history just sucks the life out of your RAM, so becomes counter-productive. Hopefully others will put a more positive spin on the topic, just depressed myself re-reading what I wrote :rollin My middle names are "level playing field for all", my parents must've had a weird sense of humour ;)

  6. Re: Punters Lounge Tournament Good to see you Jag, yeah a few of us are taking a bit of a break from poker, but will return in due course and of course always up for a meet up. :beer This will be picked up again after Xmas, feel free to post any suggestions on where/when/events etc. :ok

  7. Re: Warning - New Licensing Legislation Affecting UK Players on non-UK Sites Emails received today from Winamax confirming closure of account and stating (separately) the € amounts of bankroll and player points. What makes me laugh is they send the emails out in French, whilst knowing all along we are English (or Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish etc) and the whole bloody point of closure is that we're from the UK. Le Doh! Quickly followed by a further marketing email in English pleading us to sign up our friends and family as players. Not un brain-cell between them. p.s. try to ensure your bank details are up to date, I've changed banks and not sure I can be bothered using la support for such poultry amount. C'est la vie

  8. Re: DTD £5000 VIP Platinum Package They promoted it a few months ago, but it never happened. Hopefully it will go ahead this time, but agree as is commonplace on DTD expect the guarantees to change randomly overnight or at the 11th hour. Still good value and worth a shot for a handful of pennies. Good luck everyone, Thx Dave for posting :ok

  14. Re: Monday night Shock horror, Barty actually played some poker! :eek Betfair gave me some free tokens for basically not playing on there for several years: Big win access (€1 token) sng = 1/6 (2) +€5 token Big win qualifier (€5 token) sng = 4/6 (2) 'Rookie' (€1 token) sng = 1/6 (2) +€3.51 cash 'Rookie' (€1 token) sng = 1/6 (2) +€3.51 cash Nothing else planned now for the forseeable future though. Good luck chaps & chapess's

  15. Seems that soon there will only be Amaya and possibly ipoker left? RIP freedom of choice. Ongame is as good as dead traffic wise and I don't see sufficient numbers on MPN to sustain existing skins for long or at stand alones such as PKR, Sky, Unibet etc. I guess it's inevitable that there will be an ill wind when the big fish buys up all of the baked beans. Paaaarp. Link to external Pokernews article.

  16. Re: Good luck PL legends! :pukeSick. Very unlucky Paul, another great performance though especially considering the player list. A lot of the big names seemingly drawn in by the overlay, a right whos who of the UK Poker scene. Good luck Dave if still going, about to scan and catch up with the live updates.

  17. It's maybe been a quieter than usual year but it's been another hugely successful one for our members. Once again multiple titles, cashes & deep runs have been achieved over the last 11 months. Chance of adding to that success this weekend with several members through to Day 2's of the £200k GUKPT(Blackpool), £1m WPT(Notts) and the start of the poker player grand final (London) amongst many other events. Best of luck to Paul, Dave, Bene, Kev, Chi, Si, Leo & all our other members today. Behind you all the way. #RunGoodRunDeep Sent from my XT1052 using PL Forum

  18. Re: Grosvenor 25/25 Series - muttley going for 2nd title! Let me know if you do, might try and get into Southampton cheap and be good to meet up for a beer. Unlucky this weekend Leo, another good run, you're stringing them together, only a matter of time before pluto lines up with jupiter.....etc, although I have no idea what that means :unsure
