  1. Re: Wales > Welsh Premier League > 2011/12 An absolutely massive game tomorrow. A win for Port Talbot probably guarantees them another year in the top flight. A win for Airbus UK cements seventh place after Afan Lido's dreadfully boring draw against Aber on Friday night. Airbus UK have strengthened under Andy Preece and Port Talbot are free-falling dangerously close to a relegation battle. Backing Airbus here at any price above 6/4. Airbus UK @ 2.80 [William Hill] Airbus UK (-1 AH) @ 4.50 [bet365]

  2. Re: February Boxing/MMA

V.Martirosyan v T.Lowry Under 7.5 Rounds 9pts 1.33 Skybet V.Martirosyan 1-4 4pts 1.67 Skybet Troy Lowry, at 41, offers very little nowadays. He has been stopped in 5 of his last 6 bouts and only reached the 8th round in one of these bouts, that in 2006. He has just been brought in for Martirosyan to knock over here as the Armenian continues to tread water.
That was a ridiculous price. It was a grotesque mismatch.
  3. Re: Welsh Leagues & Cups - 2012

Good post mate. I understand that the director of football title for Welsh clubs is basically given so that the person in question does not have to attain certain coaching badges etc that a manager would need to have, or something like that. Who do you think will win the title? I fancy Bangor myself, but it should be an interesting battle at the top. Be good to see you post here more :ok
For the title I fancy TNS to take it. I think they're the stronger squad overall and they probably won't drop a point at home in the Super 6 stage, but their away form isn't great. They have lost their best player Craig Jones to Leeds, but Ryan Fraughan is an ok replacement and should thrive in a strong team. I think Llanelli's pitch won't help them as they usually have loads of postponements to catch up with at the end of the season due to poor drainage. *EDIT, tonight's games are cancelled.
  4. Re: Welsh Leagues & Cups - 2012

I see the bookies margins are even higher for this than for the Welsh league. This is my first season following this league, from what I can gather from forums etc, the teams don't take this competition all that seriously. Can anyone confirm this? On the other hand, there isn't much need to rest players as they play so few games in the WPL anyway, they might as well play their full team and keep their players fit. First thoughts...not much going here because of the BPP being the way it is, but if I had to bet I'd take Afan Lido @ 2.1
The competition is viewed the same as any league cup in any country is. League has priority, the cup is a nice break but it doesn't define a season unless you win it. Say for instance if Aberystwyth won the cup it would make a difference as their season is bleak, but for teams who are really challenging at the top, the league carries more weight.
The link you gave is pretty much the only thing I've been able to find on this game on the web. If what is written is true, then the odds on Bala look like they could be value, with them playing a much stronger team, although the Airbus back-up players will want to impress the new manager. Meanwhile, Afan Lido will be playing a full team, according to their manager, as shown here: http://welsh-premier.com/index.php/headline-news/4262-lido-boss-values-league-cup-progress whilst Aberyswyth have many injury and suspension problems. Afan Lido look good value @ 2.15 (Bet365) and that is one I will be taking now.
I'm not sure if Aber have that many injuries to report, but Sean Thornton and Wyn Thomas are suspended. They have lost their main striker Lewis Codling due to work commitments, but he was hardly prolific anyway. They have brought in local striker Josh Shaw, who's a decent player but is unproven at this standard. They have also signed Carl Lamb, a former TNS and Bangor striker. Lido are missing Liam Hancock who's suspended for 4 matches. They have signed a couple of players in the transfer window and are a very difficult side to beat. The problem with this game is that Aber are capable of putting four or five goals past a side with ease, but they can't seem to find consistency. They have a new "director of football" who is basically the manager and he was the spearhead behind them finishing 4th two seasons ago. They have lost a lot of players because of this decision, but it could produce a better end product. Airbus won 4-1 tonight against Bala, who had a keeper injured and then their sub keeper sent off, so Mark Connolly had to go in goal. :lol Got to love the Welsh system.
  5. Re: England: Championship November 1-2 Derby County vs. Cardiff City I feel that Derby County (5th, 24 points) are overpriced here considering they are at home and playing against a Cardiff (9th, 21 points) side that's still strengthening under Malky Mackay. Cardiff are a side that's hard to beat, as they displayed on the weekend away at Leeds. Derby however have played attractive football under Nigel Clough and the results have come their way. They have a tough set of upcoming fixtures, so I feel that Derby are going to be grasping for as many points as they can take. Derby County @ 2.88 [Victor Chandler]

  6. Re: England: Championship November 1-2 Southampton vs. Peterborough United Southampton (1st, 30 points) are flying at the top of the table and have a 100% record at St. Mary's after seven games there. They face a Perterborough (12th, 19 points) side that are an attack-minded side, but against the bigger teams such as West Ham, Hull, Middlesbrough and Brighton, they failed to score. Many will disagree with this bet, but I see this as value. Southampton are strong favorites to win and the goal line is too low for my liking. Southampton to keep a clean sheet is roughly the same price, so this is better to take as it also covers the freak result that would be Peterborough to win to nil. Both Teams To Score - NO @ 2.55 [unibet/William Hill]

  7. Re: England: Championship November 1-2 Barnsley vs. Hull City Nigel Pearson's brand of knockout football is suiting Hull City (6th, 24 points) just fine this season, with their current unbeaten run stretching to nine games. They have conceded the fewest amount of goals this season (11), but their strikers are not firing on all cylinders, with the Tigers' goal count reaching (13), the lowest in the league bar the sides that are in the drop zone. Signs suggest that thing might be changing, with Aaron McLean finding the net twice in his last two games. Barnsley (19th, 15 points) have lost three of their last four and are without a handful of squad players, most notably Bobby Hassell. 10 of Barnsley's 14 games have been Under 2.5 Goals, and with Barnsley struggling to find firepower up top, the game looks likely to be an under 2.5 affair. Hull with the stronger squad and tighter defence are rightly priced as favorites here, but I also think there's value adding them to win by under 2.5 goals too. Hull City win and Under 2.5 Goals @ 16/5 [William Hill] Crystal Palace vs. Portsmouth For me, Crystal Palace (3rd, 24 points) have been the surprise package of the Championship this year, topping the form table with 14 points and are unbeaten in seven. They haven't conceded for five games (including the 2-0 win over Southampton in the League Cup), and have a full strength squad against Portsmouth (18th, 15 points). With five defeats on the bounce away from Fratton Park and are without Greg Halford for the trip to Selhurst Park. Everything points towards another Palace win. Crystal Palace @ 2.15 [Victor Chandler]

  8. Re: 2011 Boxing Thread Sport Boxing Event Frankie Gavin vs. Curtis Woodhouse Selection Frankie Gavin by KO/TKO/DQ Strength 10/10 Date 16/07/2011 Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 1.50 Reasoning Despite being very unimpressive in his shutout win over Young Mutley, I fully expect hot prospect Frankie Gavin to keep his unbeaten streak and stop former professional footballer Curtis Woodhouse tonight. Far more skilled than Woodhouse, Gavin will be looking for a big performance to make up for last time out and finish with a stoppage. Good luck. Sport Boxing Event Tony Bellew vs. Ovil McKenzie Selection Tony Bellew by KO/TKO/DQ Strength 10/10 Date 16/07/2011 Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 1.56 Reasoning Tony Bellew is a Liverpudlian fighter that is chasing a fight with Welsh titleholder Nathan Cleverly, but first has to negotiate a rematch against puncher Ovil McKenzie. The first fight was an entertaining fight with both fighters down in the fight and Bellew eventually stopping McKenzie in the eighth. This time, I see Bellew stopping him earlier and retaining his belts. Good luck.

  9. Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Sport Tennis Event Milos Raonic vs. Philipp Petzschner Selection Milos Raonic to win 2-0 Strength 10/10 Date 10/06/2011 Bookmaker/Price Stan James @ 2.38 Reasoning ATP Halle - After getting off to a promising start on the hard courts, Milos Raonic is a backed outsider to do well at Wimbledon and this week at Halle. He faces German Petzschner, who played good tennis against Gimeno-Traver, but I don't see him matching up well too Raonic with his serve. I expected Raonic's price to be higher, around 4/6, so I'll have to take Raonic in two sets here. Sport Tennis Event Victor Troicki vs. Tomas Berdych Selection Victor Troicki Strength 10/10 Date 10/06/2011 Bookmaker/Price Stan James @ 2.10 Reasoning ATP Halle - Tomas Berdych has not been in such great form recently, and with Victor Troicki looking like a strong outsider to win the tournament in Halle, I have to back him to overcome Berdych. For me, the odds should be 50/50, maybe with Troicki a slight favorite as he defeated Zverev and Andreev with ease. Bemelmans had a match point against Berdych, and shouldn't really be allowed to get close to winning a match of tennis against the Czech. Have to back Troicki here. Sport Tennis Event Andy Roddick vs. Fernando Verdasco Selection Andy Roddick to win 2-0 Strength 10/10 Date 10/06/2011 Bookmaker/Price Bwin @ 2.40 Reasoning ATP London - Despite his recent decline in the rankings, Andy Roddick is still a force to be reckoned with on grass. His game doesn't suit the hard court as much anymore, but the slower grass courts should make him a little stronger than Verdasco. There could be a tie-break or two here, but with a dominant serve I'm backing Roddick to wrap it up in two.
