  1. Re: boxing betting thread Ryan Rhodes v Jamie Moore Did not realise that Rhodes was undefeated LM and I agree that its a tricky fight for Moore but one I feel he should overcome. Rhodes can look quite classy and elusive at times but back when he was rated I always felt he was overrated if that makes sense. Cant see Rhodes losing this tbh I think he will be on top of Rhodes keeping the pressure on and hpe that complacency will not be an issue, which I doubt with a title shot possibly on the horizon. I expect a decent effort from Rhodes though. However I feel the constant pressure from Moore and those energy sapping body shots could see him wearing down his aging but rededicated opponent gradually for a late stoppage. With Sky still holding strong with 1/3 feel Im going to have to have a punt. Reccomended bets: Moore bt Rhodes 60 points 1/3 Skybet 2.5 points on each round for a Moore stoppage... R9 16/1 Generally, R10 20/1 Sky, R11 20/1 Generally, R12 28/1 Ladbrokes Total 70points

  2. Re: boxing betting thread Not underestimating Napa in any way, great little boxer and I remember seeing him as an amateur thinking maybe he was going to win a title but alas that wasnt going to happen. Also realise that there is more power in his hands than his record suggests and he has the ability to hurt. I just think Davies is in a place for the first time in his career where hes happy as a boxer and in a place he wants to be. Like I mentioned full camp and Ive also heard his confidence is supreme but I seriously dont think he will be underestimating Napa. People are thinking he will just try and blast through him and under rating some of boxing skills. I may well be wrong but I hope he will measure up and box sensibly whilst hopefully backing up Napa and catching him.

  3. Re: boxing betting thread Ian Napa v Gary Davies This is an intriguing contest with Davies making the 1st defence of his British bantamweight title against the elusive former British and European champ Ian Napa. Napa is by far the more experienced of the 2 and has fought at a much higher level than his younger opponent with his last 7 fights being for one of the aforementioned titles. This is a tricky contest with Napa the well rounded boxer mover taking on the much bigger, more powerful Davies (7 kos in 9 wins). Napas lack of power has no doubt hindered his career but I think he has done well in accomplishing what he has. In his last 2 fights though Napa seems to have been hit a lot more than he used to and maybe there are signs that the 31 year old may have reached his peak. On the other hand Davies will be hell bent on winning in his first defence and wants the Lonsdale belt to keep. Davies is a fighter who has sometimes had to step in at late notice and also not fight at his ideal weight which he claims is bantam but has often fought above. With a full camp for this fight I think Davies will be well motivated and will wish to seize the moment that is available to him at this moment in his career. Davies sites Peter Culshaw as his boxing hero having trained with him early in his career and ironically it was Culshaw who handed Napa his only ever ko defeat. Napa is very seasoned and there is a chance that he could maybe make Davies look a little wild and Crude but I’m banking on Davies to overcome this with his youthful determination, I believe Davies is at a point in his career where it is up to him what happens next now that he has the belt and he will do everything within his power not to lose in his first defence, despite the tricky opposition - but Napa could well just about be ready for the taking. Recommended bet 75 pts Davies bt Napa 11/10 BlSq

  5. Re: boxing betting thread Carl Froch v Andre Dirrell A really good find which I find very difficult to call so for the time being at least Im going to keep stakes minimal. Obciously there has been a bit of hype here in Britain due to having one of the market leaders in a truly prestigious tournament. Plenty of trash talking has been coming from Dirrell about laying out Froch – who has simply brushed it off. I do think both fighters will be pumped for this one and in hope Dirrell has some confidence from his recent stoppages and comes to fight unlike the last time he shared a ring with a known puncher in Curtis Stevens. In that fight Dirrell bascically got on his bike and used his speed and skills to outpoint the more aggressive Stevens who in the end was lost and didn’t know what to do. In some ways I wouldn’t be surprised to same here as if Dirrell stays sensible there is a chance he could outbox Froch. All that said I think Froch could prove to powerful for the relatively inexperienced Dirrell. I was toying with taking Froch in this fight at 3/5 but that has now dissappeared and is now BP 4/7 – that may just prove too short for me. Dirrell though at times seems to have a touch of a suspect chin and maybe Froch can take advantage of that, especially if Dirrell comes out looking to engage. One thing I definitely believe (and unfortunately have no lnowledge of the answer) is the size of the ring – the smaller the better for Froch. He will be looking to stop Dirrells movement and try cutting off as much as possible. With the above to consider I don’t fancy over/under and with a realistic chance of Froch being outboxed and missing the boat on 3/5 which wouldve been a tentative selection anyway Ive had to look for a little value elsewhere. I don’t think Dirrell will have ever been punched as hard as he will be this weekend and may be in for a bit of a shock. With Dirrells recent ko success Im hoping he will come out and have a go at Froch and knowing that I have seen him hurt several times before - particularly in the first round against Hanshaw when imo he went down (though it wasn’t called) Im going to have a slight tinker on something happening early doors. Some of the markets which interested me were the Froch win in Round 1 (50s) 2 (40) 3 (33). Dirrell to be put down in the first (16s) Froch in rounds 1-3 (16s) Recommended bets 1pt Froch win Round 1 50/1 Boyles, 1pt Froch win Rounds 1-3 14/1 Bet365, 1pt Dirrell down in the first 16/1 Sky

  6. Re: MMA Betting Thread Came on here fully expecting to post a double on Bader and Machida. But having seen odds of 1/4 for both having serious second thoughts. Rua is 7/2 to beat Machida which seems pretty reasonable cosidering his stature but can you back against someone who at the moment I think looks pretty special and in myeyes pretty unbeatable. But stepping back they are all pretty much beatable at some point in mma. Machida has some very good scalps on his undefeated record and its well documented that hes barely been touched in the UFC never mind the not losing a round. Couple this with the fact of his impressive ko's in his last 2 fights against high calibre opponents, thus losing his 'boring' tag he looks a genuine all round fighter. Rua on the other hand has 3 losses on his record but was considered one of the pound fo pound best on his UFC debut against Griffin, which he ultimately lost pretty decisively. But there seems to be reasons/excuses in all his losses.....His cardio was done within 5 minutes against the wiley Griffin, which was attributed to a knee injury before the fight and was operated on after. Personally I wouldnt call the Coleman fight a loss but a freak accident when he took a tumble and dislocated his elbow, leading a mini riot in the ring - either way down as loss that was later comfortably avenged. And in his first defeat, in only his 5th fight he lost to Sobral - a 30 fight veteran who had fought at highest level. If you discount all that hes undefeated:loon:lol So now Im a bit of a loss and am tempted in a value punt rather than my original thoughts, time for a think I guess:eyes Still liking the beast Bader - powerful and top notch wrestling. really think this guy could end up being a genuine contender.

  7. Re: boxing betting thread Thanks for that Kevshat - I didnt know:$ but did find it strange when I thought it hadnt been picked up - with both should be value for money. So whose anybodys fancy? Cant call it myself but if it was over a short time I would prob lay both Froch and Kessler and for how long it lasts is why I wont be having a punt. I do believe though it couldve been worth a small tickle on Ward and Dirrell at 10s and 14s. If I had to pick one I guess it would be Abraham but without any confidence whatsoever - I really do believe it is that open and will hopefully run its course with no hiccups or issues. All the above will make no sense though if I choose to opost what I am considering backing this weekend:loon

  8. Re: boxing betting thread Loads of decent foghts this weekend - hope I dont get too selective but dunno if Im gonna have time to do anything write up wise so apologies now if anythings too short. Gh - where you getting the fights on? - I see no listings - stream maybe? As for your results mate yeah no probs, post up! Always interesting too see another perspective.......As I say I believe Im a little too selective at times, would be interesting.

  9. Re: boxing betting thread Cheers Gh, some pretty shaky moments but he pulled through - just:) Cleverly looks real good when he boxes properly ie behing a top notch jab but I think the comments of lasck of power in his career kind of hurt him and wishes to show that he can ounce but the this negates his main strength as when he focuses he can be a beautiful boxer with a snapping jab. Theres a bid of Froch cockiness about the guy and I genuinely believe it would do him good to be put on his ass - evn beaten. Re Solis - what is that chunk playing at? Considered trebling him up with lopez and gamboa but not now at that weight I cant trust him without some sort of effort, he looked like a jellybean ffs!

  10. Re: PL Heads-Up League - Game 3 Could someone please set a table up for myself and gaf at noon tomorrow? 2 x nlhe $1 maybe a 30 minute gap? I had a mail from Pokerstars saying that I had the private table function but when I looked it wasnt there - will hopefully sort it next time.

  11. Re: boxing betting thread nice post GH. Completely agree neither will want to look bad with a future potential showdown looming, neither has any fear and want to fight the best so its quite possible down the the line. Like both fighters but Juanma looks quite special. Solis should also take care of Barrett via ko if his rep is anything to go by though at times can look lacklustre but having said that I get the impression that Barrett fights for cash now and his chin aint what it was......maybe more later - Id go for the treble but I know one will let me down no doubt!!!

  12. Re: boxing betting thread Nathan Cleverly v Courntney Fry Since winning the Commonwealth title against Oakey has stopped all 4 of his opponents pretty easily. This will be his toughest defence since the Oakey win. Fry was a top notch amateur and knows how to handle himself in the ring, having 2 losses on his pro record - 1 in a prizefighter slugfest over 3 rounds to Oakey and once on points against Orvil McKenzie - who is in some way slightly under rated despite his record. I dont see Cleverly as a particularly concussive puncher despite a good uppercut and he tends to grind his opponents down. The risk is he seems to have grown into himself a little lately and could indeed punch harder than I believe. He was good in his last win over the brave McIntosh but basically was far too good and outclassed him, with McIntoshes heart taking him as far as he did. I see an evenish start with Cleverly taking over during the course of the bout but see Frys amateur pedigree keeping him out of trouble for a while and his chin seems solid enough early doors judging by the Oakey brawl. I see Cleverly winning by points or late stoppage and the best value I see is over 7.5 rounds with Skybet. Recommended bet 60 points over 7.5 2/3 with Skybet
