  1. Re: Betfair Challenge - Team Roses will keep an eye on the lobby - if theres no sign of him with 5 mins to go i will jump in....even if he joins it makes no odds as he is first alphabetically and i think we have the same number of games under our belt?

  2. Re: boxing betting thread

Not seen owt for Allan Greene as yet. Fight not till next month so plenty of time. Would envisage at least 1/3 for him. Am on Floyd effectively for 1.96 with the Cloud double still running. Marquez one of my favourite fighters, but everything in PBF's favour for this fight.
Wow if I can get 1/3 on Greene I dare say I will jump all over it - I was thinking he could be 1/6ish but was curious on how the books would see it. GL with the Mayweather bet. As you say everything in his favour but the lay off worries me and the motivation of him coming back to the ring ie is just for the money regarding the situation he has appeared to get himself in with the taxman. JMM is also one of my fave fighters and I would put him in top 5 P4P for certain, also think he was unlucky not to get the decision with Pacquio despite being dropped 3 times in the opener. Either way I simply cant go against PBF but considering all circumstances 1/4 is too short for me, espesh when I think back to the 1/2 you could grab on him beating Hatton LOL. Just going to have to sit back and enjoy this one for what it is, although I dont have Sky Sports:$:sad

  4. Re: Best bet of the day 16th Sept Not sure if Im allowed to do this but have copied this over from the Yarmouth thread. OK guys hope you dont mind but im going to have a shot at this, been lurking in the background whilst never contributing. Am in no way an experienced or winning punter and in the past have tended to go with basic form etc along with a good sounding write up! Considering I have had a little time on my hands this morning Im going to have a go at picking something without the assistance of others, hope its cool, and please feel free to give any feedback....so here goes - losing my virginity with this one!:) 13.40 Yarmouth With a short priced favourite raised 5lbs for its win lto(?) there may be a value play elsewhere, granted it only pays 3 on the places but Im on a big learning curve. Im going to side with Many Welcomes, she seems to have run pretty consistently on her last few starts, apart from the last where she never seemed to get in the race (or so it says on the SL website). She has only raced over this trip twice before, once when with no run when encountering heavy going for the 1st time and on her penultimate start where she finished a promising 2nd over this C&D. Before that she won over 1 furlong further on todays going (which she seems to run better on) with same jockey running on strongly. Appears to be a bit of a slow starter and the shorter trips which she has mainly run on look to be a little too sharp for her. 0.5 pts e/w @9/1 BOG Paddy Power Wow! That took me close to an hour!

  6. Re: Betfair Challenge - Team Roses ul AG

If superfoo would like to pick his night' date=' ill take the remaining, its not a problem for me and i know sometimes an early start can be awkward for superfoo because of his lovely little daughter, running him ragged:lol:lol[/quote'] LOL cheers ken.....i will choose later in the week if thats cool with you but i suspect i may be able to make both though monday may be more realistic despite its earlier start....
  7. Re: boxing betting thread Oh well got over the Fury fight and even able to :) about it now:):)see! After what shouldve been a tasty 63 profit turned into a 12 loss going have to get a move on though dont want to get desperate, so heres a few of my fancies on upcoming fights... 8. Re: PL WSOP 2009, DTD 12th September - Sponsored by Paradise Poker- Added value annou Just want to echo the thanks to all those involved with the organisation of this great event, everything was spot on and made for a great day. Also thatnks to everyone who turned up and made a 'PL do' virgin as myself feel very welcome, well worth the 5 hour round trip!!! Apologies for a couple of the beats, main ones were LB44 at a crucial point and Runadrum was also a victim of one which sent him to the rails - no apologies to ste though with my 7-5 cracking his 77:loon Aplogies for the headaches I dished out as anyone at the later tables of the holdem will attest to - its bad enough my mouth doesnt close but it got louder and LOUDER as the night went on, if it makes any of you feel better Ive still got a headache now!!! Well played to Steve who I will blame my increasing decibels on:ok only joking mate. I also purchased his bounty chips off him and after guarding them with my life for the remainder of Saturday night, I mangaed to leave them in the hotel room on Sunday:cry All in all a fantastic day, great to put a face to a lot of you guys - even though when I said Superfoo Id usually get a look followed by "God, Ive cursed you a few times!!" haha. Only reinforced what I already thought about this forum - cracking bunch of people!!!:nanaUntil next time.....

  9. Re: Betfair Challenge - Team Roses Thanks Ken:ok Points update day 4 35 day 6 23 Sweet oobs re the deepstack, pencil yourself in. I dont mind playing the Omaha but will have to check my availability at present, will post when I know my availability for the week.

  10. Re: Betfair Challenge - Team Roses Thanks very much Helen!!! was a great day and a lot of fun. Home now so will be playing tonight but have my little girl running riot (not ideal considering how rough I feel:)) and will probably sit out the first half hour. One problem though I cant find the game in the lobby??? But I may have heard that it only appears in the lobby an hour before the game so will check again in an hour or so:ok

  11. Re: boxing betting thread Tyson Fury vs John Mcdermott This is a bit of a strange on because I agree with the majority of what Ivor has said in the post above but I believe there is a bit of value in a play with McDermott even though I believe Fury should win. I simply think that JM is a little overpriced and there could even be a bigger price come tomorrow night. Make no doubt this is a step up for Fury and it will be interesting to see how he reacts when someone punches back and is not there to simply be beat. Im not too sure if he punches as hard as people believe and Im sure Ive seen him turn his back on his opponent when he has been hit (may have been Swaby but not sure). I know hes done what was expected of him but the standard of opponent has been pretty low (as with most pro newcomers) but all credit to him for taking this in only his 8th(?) fight but it is what hes been asking for. In his last fight I thought he looked pretty poor considering looking overweight but that was attributed to back problems and the lack of motivation in fighting an opponent Im sure he thought he was far superior to. I believe both fighters will be ‘up’ for this fight and it should be entertaining. Fury is an extremely confident fighter with pure belief in his own ability but he really shouldn’t underestimate JM like Williams did in there 1st fight and even though he said he gave his all in training for the rematch was somewhat lucky to come away with the W after some rocky moments. Im sure TF will want to look impressive in this and may well want to duplicate Skelton and jump all over JM and overwhelm him early on. Imo this could be a mistake if McDermott is able to weather the storm and take Skelton into unknown waters past the 4th. In which case there is a chance TF could gas himself out in the way Haye did against Thompson. Siding with a win with JM is no doubt a risky bet but with doubts (that is a bit strong, maybe the word “unproven” is more appropriate) regarding TF - taking into account that he MAY not punch as hard as he and others think (though he does seem to have nice bodyshots and a good uppercut), his chin has never fully been tested (just cant that turning his back on his opponent out of my head – hope its true and my mind may be playing tricks there lol) and the fact that he has never been past 4 with unproven stamina with his somewhat oddly shaped, semi cumbersome physique – he COULD fade in the later rounds of 10 IF JM is still there, I think there is a little value in 9/2 and it is worth a tickle, even if only an interest bet. Summing up Tyson Fury should win by KO but with several little doubts, rightly or wrongly, Im going to have a play on “McMuffin/McDonut” and risk the ridicule of fellow PL punters. Recommended bet 12 points McDermott bt Fury 9/2 Bet365

  12. Re: boxing betting thread Nice write up Ivor will post my thoughts later. Going to have to get a move on to achieve what I intended before the end of the year but dont want to make selections for the sake of it. Anyway this is where it stands at the moment.

  13. Re: Betfair Challenge - Team Roses well so close but so far in the first week, hopefully we will get the breaks for a cash this week!!! sunday should be fine for me as I think I will be back from DTD in good time for this...i may have to sit out the 1st couple of levels due to getting kid to bed but that will barely make a difference with this structure and it stops from doing anything silly early on:lol

  14. Re: boxing betting thread No 11/2 for me:( Interesting views regarding Poonsawat(?) and Dunne, incidentally it was the Poonsawat who handed Cordoba his first defeat. Im still in two minds though tbh I like done but his chin (or beard lol) is a worry But Poonsawat has only fought outside of Thailand once and that resulted in his only loss!!! Tricky to call and the bookies think so also, though I do see your point with the home fighter.
