Re: PL Exclusive League with Devilfish Poker - Starts Jan 19th! One question: "The top 10 players after 4 weeks will be entered into the €500 freeroll" How are the top 10 players determined?

Re: PL Exclusive League with Devilfish Poker - Starts Jan 19th! Great promo, I will be trying to take part.

Re: Tough Spot...or not...Part 2 I don't play cash but I could easily put both of them on a draw. The big stack would probably call if he had a set. He's trying to isolate with his big all-in and does not want your call. I think you are probably ahead of the big stack and should therefore call, you would be playing a bigger pot against him than against the small stack.

Re: Small stakes SNG Heads-up
Can always try this one that's supposed to be very good: http://www.twoplustwo.com/heads-up-no-limit.php* Does anyone know of any (good) books that deals with NLH HU SNG? I have looked around at the 2+2 forum without any success. -
Re: PL Poker - A review of 2008 Wow, that's amazing. Only been a member for about a month and a half. Had not fully realised the amazing success of some of the people on this board. Well done! :clap

Re: ** Poker Sunday 4th January ** Yes I am not sure either but seems it could be either way.

Re: ** Poker Sunday 4th January ** I am in the FA Cup Special too. Does it say anywhere that the extra 1.750 is split evenly between the top 5?

Re: ** Poker Sunday 4th January ** I managed to satellite into the Pacific/888 $100,000 deep stack challenge (normally $130+10 buy-in). Has 10,000 chips and 20 minutes blinds. And I am only used to short stack tournament poker - will be quite a change!! :drums<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Re: Devilfish Bounty Tournament I've played this a couple of times. That's correct Avon, usually 250 added + 250 bounty on Devilfish. If he can't play there's 500 added.

Re: A message to the PL XMAS Freeroll players I do not play that much and therefore a league is not appealing to me. I would rather play "one-off" value added events. Having a family means I can generally only play one evening per week and that's not always the same weekday. But I really enjoy the forums here and try to make a contribution, hope to join in PL exclusive events.

Re: Table selection: Sharkscope Live Tournament Selector Yes that's true. But better be careful - and not mention SS in chat.
-
Re: Table selection: Sharkscope Live Tournament Selector Better be careful as Sharkscope is on Pokerstars' banned software list. They used to be running a live check to see whether you had Sharkscope window open but apparently are no longer doing so.

Re: PokerStars Guiness Book of Records Attempt I exited in 15.300 or so. Shoved a low suited connector from the button (M=7) but sb woke up with AA.

Re: PuntersLounge & PaddyPower Christmas Freeroll I voted to receive the PM, even if I know I do not fulfill the posting requirements. Hoping however the mods acknowledge my contribution to the forums.

Re: 46 tables at once I use tiling on a single monitor and 4 is quite manageable (MTTs or SNGs). I guess I could go up to 6 tables if I had a larger monitor but I think I would miss the action sometimes when it is on me. However I don't use any keyboard shortcuts or AHKs. 43/46 however is quite mad :dude

Re: Trillion GTY's now with more added value Yes AvonGirl, I visited the Poker Trillion website and came to the same conclusion, the 5k replaced by a 4k gty and is a rebuy. Probably little overlay, but very decent overlay in the Sunday 10k GTD it seems.
-
Re: Trillion GTY's now with more added value Sorry to bring up an old thread but this is linked to in the daily thread. It says there that this is a rebuy but this thread talks about a freezeout. As I don't have a Trillion account yet, can anyone tell me which this is?

Re: Raising on the Button (and firing back) There is a great discussion in Moshman's SNG book about stealing and restealing. The restealing discussion applies very well also to MTTs. In short, my interpretation is that you need to estimate if the raiser is stealing or raising for value. This can be estimated by two things: a) is the raiser passive or aggressive
- a passive raiser is almost always raising for value (they would limp if the have a mediocre hand)
- an aggressive raiser could both be stealing and raising for value
- the later the position of an aggressive raiser the more likely he is to be stealing
- a raise from early position is almost always for value
By using this it is possible to "estimate" if the raise is a steal raise or a value raise. No exact science of course. I know the original question concerned only raises from the button but this is a great topic and I wanted to be more general.
