  1. Re: Limit Omaha H/L Challenge

Couldnt agree with you more Dave. Im a much lower stakes player, but have played a fair bit this year at 5/10 and 10/20 (Limit) on Stars and FT, and dont see much difference in skill levels at all - in fact some games seem easier than the $1/$2 PL tables. Unfortunately Im not ready to put my money where my mouth is .... yet :loon Best of luck with this - love to see a fellow PLer show that Mr Antonius a thing or two ..... in my Helsinki home game they keep´throwing his name at me like every Finn is that good !!!
I get the feeling it's going to get tougher as the levels increase, but you never know, Antonius might become a personal cash machine :lol
  2. Ok, as stated in the Poker Chat forum I've recently taken up playing $15/$30 Limit Omaha H/L. Instead of going in at the level I was bankrolled for ($1/$2), I took a shot, with my 20 big bets, at $15/$30. I've managed to get that up to 75-80 big bets right now and, in my opinion, the gmes are soft enough to continue taking an underolled shot. Having done some research, it seems like 250 big bets is a reasonable bankroll. Rather than step down a level, I'm just going to keep playing here until i either a) go busto b) reach a bankroll of $7500 Upon going busto I will go back to low stakes NLHE Upon reaching $7500 I will keep playing until reaching $15k (or busting) step up to $30/$60. The ultimate (unlikely) goal is the $2000/$4000 tables, where I will crush Ivey, Hansen and Antonius :rollin

  3. Re: Limit Omaha H/L Ok, have taken a bit of a look around, and it seems like I should have a bankroll of around 250-300 big bets to be playing LO8 (I'd have said 150 would be plenty, but 250-300 seems the consensus), so that means my current challenge is not make myself rolled for $15/$30 ... by playing $15/$30. Ok, so bankroll at this second is just over $2500, target is $7500. Once I've got there (assuming I don't in fact go busto) I'll play there until I can step up.

  4. Re: Limit Omaha H/L I should point out that I am vastly underbankrolled for this, playing with 75 big bets, (having originally taken a shot with 20) and bustoville is probably just around the corner (although I think in a Hi/Lo split game the bankroll can be a bit smaller than regular limit games)

  5. Anyone else play this? Have recently taken to playing $15/$30 LO8 on Full Tilt, and I have to say they are some of the softest games of any kind I've seen. Anyone with good PLO8 knowledge should tear these games apart.

  6. Re: New UltimateBet Scandal

Is this a windup ? I can not believe that anyone still plays at UB.
No windup. I should add that as you will see if you read the full thread, Hellmuth seemed very unconcerned by the whole thing at the time, saying something like, these things happen!!
  7. Re: New UltimateBet Scandal

Couldn't agree more :loon I presume this is on Cereus? How long ago did that launch? Seeming more like a software bug more than malicious cheating :unsure (except as you say for the rather bizarre coincidence that it's Phil Hellmuth :loon)
Think it's only been 2-3 months at most. All kinds of theories flying round in the 2+2 thread. Of course it seems strange that Hellmuth would be cheating given the amount of people that would be railing/the websites that keep track of high stakes tables. But it's also pretty strange that out of the millions of hands that have probably been played since the relaunch that this happens only once, and it's Hellmuth playing.
  8. Re: New UltimateBet Scandal From the Ultimate Bet Blog

Earlier today we learned about a poker hand where our system paid out the losing player instead of the correct winning hand. The hand number is #1162170993. We are investigating this software malfunction as our absolute top priority. This is the first incident of this kind we have encountered. We are currently examining the poker system and the application logs in order to pinpoint the cause of this malfunction.
Funny how they forget to mention it was Phil Hellmuth who got the pot he should have lost.
  9. Sorry for not converting but this is really strange! This has not been edited in anyway besides the hand ID and if you know DOUBLEBALLER you may want to let him know about this (He like auto left the table when the pot got shipped to phil! then come straight back! Software glitch maybe?) Link to the whole thread http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/29/news-views-gossip/ultimate-bet-wtf-hellmuth-has-worse-hand-but-pot-gets-shipped-him-anyway-369065/ Shocking, although even more shocking that anyone's still playing there after the whole superuser thing.
  10. Re: Big Pair Coyness I only just skim-read that, but essentially, the only time it's worth slow-playing big pairs pre-flop is when you're in early position on an LAG table (with the AG part being more important than the L)

  11. Re: David Benyamine Regarding Benyamine, yes he does not own all the money he plays for, but it can not be denied that he is still a great cash player (and increasingly in tournaments), consistently makes a fortune at the tables (even if he's giving a load of it away)

  12. Re: David Benyamine

I was amazed by that hand between laliberte and benyamine - benyamine did look gutted (from someone who doesnt care about the size of a pot? :unsure) - but what's the point of playing poker when the billionaire basically gives the money back when he wins :unsure - Even I couldnt lose with terms like that :tongue2
Laliberte doesn't care abouth winning or losing money (if he did, he is quite intellgent enough to stop playing poker). It is just his hobby, he has enough money that he can afford to lose lots, and he clearly loves the fact that he can sit down with the "best" players in the world, not something he could do in any other sport.
  13. Re: Cardrunners Ok, early impressions are that Cardrunners is only worth signing up for if you're a NLHE cash player, which fortunately I am. Like I said before, very impressed so far. What I've watched so far has really given me my enthusiasm for the game back, and I now realise that I've been playing on autopilot for a couple of years, and therefore not a) enjoyed the game like I used to b) not done as well as I should have. Haven't looked at any of the other sites, although one of December's poker mags (can't remember which one, but it's the one with Annie Duke on the front) has a review of all of them, and rates cardrunners the highest. Is the stuff on Negreanu's site all by him? Like the various viewpoints offered on Cardrunners, thinking just getting one perspective might not be worth paying for. I have to say, I was always sceptical of these training sites, thinking I could work everything out through experience, but my game has been slipping for a while now (along with NLHE games generally getting tougher), and early signs are good.
