Bit silly from William Hill to do this, I guess it might be a way to attract people to subscribe to their PLUS membership.

Anyone knows if it's worth getting a PLUS account? I guess the only way to do it is on any of their onsite shops?

Would you believe that they even gave me a £5 free bet via their free 'Scratch Of The Day' promotion if I bet £10 on football today!

So I end up with a minimum £7.50 profit plus another £5 to bet with.

Small potatoes I know, but every little helps!

  2. If you have a William Hill account, they are offering 'EPIC ODDS' of evens on a goal being scored in the Villa/Everton game tomorrow. According to Hills, the original/true odds were 1/16 (not convinced about that myself, but no matter).

    Maximum stake is £10.

If you stick said tenner on it, then bet £2.50 on 'no goalscorer' @7-1, you are guaranteed a return of £20 for your £12.50 outlay.

Also, there is of course an outside chance of getting a £40 return, if the game finishes 1-0 via an own goal.

  3. Re: Classic Time - Stan James 2,000 Guineas

2000 Guineas: Makfi 1pt e/w 33/1 Stan James Makfi may just spring a surprise at a nice price. He seems to have slipped under the radar as he does not fare well against many of the trends, however this son of Dubawi may have been underestimated. He lines up here unbeaten having won a Group 3 last time out. His sire is Dubawi and he can trace his line back to Dubai Millenium. There is every reason to hope he will stay. Dubawi won the Irish 2000 Guineas and also won on this course. The concern is he has been winning (comfortably) on soft going. However, reading the reports his trainer feels he can improve and with some better ground he just might. Over the past decade a high draw has also been an advantage and Makfi will come out of stall 15. Don't pretend to know much about the trainer - which is probably part of the reason why Makfi is 33/1. If he was still with Marcus Tregoning he would be several points shorter.
:notworthy In the words of Andy Gray...'take a bow, son'.
  4. Re: Doncaster - Sat 24th Oct - Racing Post Trophy Day

RE St Nicholas Abbey, 5/2 for the Derby now, talk about an overreaction :eek ....... I wouldn't take 5/2 for him to line up never mind win the Derby :lol
Speaking as a betting man, I agree 100% - you are absolutely spot on. Speaking as a racing fan, I was feeling a just little deflated after Sea The Stars was retired - never see another like him etc, etc. Then, blow me, along comes another horse we can dream about becoming an all time great. Absolutely breathtaking performance, cruising speed, blinding turn of foot, the 2nd looks a rock-solid yardstick - no wonder we're all over-reacting! Seriously, I do think St N A will be rated higher than S T S was as a 2yo. Let's hope all goes well with him over the winter and he gets to prove his worth in next year's classics.
  5. Re: Warning: NEWMARKET WHISPERS Just tell these shysters you're not interested in racing/betting. They are either (a) guessers, or (b) tipping every horse in the race to different punters in different parts of the country. Those punters who do get the eventual winner will think that the tipsters are actually 'in the know' and unfortunately may end up parting with money for future 'information'. Don't fall for it! There are more than enough decent judges on here to help you interpret the form book and the betting market. One thing's for sure - no one on here is looking to rip you off, and information is shared freely with the best of intentions. Ultimately, back your own judgement - when you lose, at least you only have yourself to blame, and you can go back and maybe analyse where you went wrong. When you win, it's like you are the shrewdest judge in the business and king of all you survey. At least until the next losing bet!

ReasoningMissed out on the 20/1 offered by Stan James earlier in the week but this still looks a great bet to me' date= Taking the front two out in the betting and the race looks pretty open, Looks to be out of sorts this year but Jonjo's horses are slowly coming back into form and im hoping that will bring improvment from Albertas Run, He should see the trip well and there is no doubting on the pick of his form then he would have a great chance, Basically you are getting 12/1 for him to finish in the top 5.
:notworthy A truly wonderful piece of tipping, sir. :clap
  7. Re: Best Bet of the Day 24/11/08

13:00 Lingfield - Chijmes Won over course and distance in the summer, hasn't really ran well since though but I am willing to give it a chance in this race. Its running off the same mark as it did when it won here. Trainers form has been alright as of late, 3 wins in the last week all at decent prices. Only mount out at this meeting as well which is always a plus in my books. Keniry on board who rode Fyodor when it won the other night and on this horse when it last won here. 2 pts @ SP on Skybet
:clapNice one young Stu! An 8/1 beauty!:clap :notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy
  8. Re: How Does Your Tote 10 To Follow Compare?

Did anyone use this site to help pick their 10 to follow: http://www.petermartinconsult.supanet.com/racing/ttf/current.htm#milers
Yes, I used it last year and I did much better than ever before. It regularly shortlists the winners of the bonus races - this time I've already managed to snare Imperial Commander. My own (single) list is very similar to Ginger's entry no.4 - instead of Tatenen & Gwanako I have Tidal Bay & Alberta's Run.
