Yeeeeeah ROBREDO won 7-6, 6-1, nice call Matt, thanx for that one. :ok And my own pick NOVAK just came in at 5-7, 7-6, 6-0. I think Novak won 12-10 on that second set tie break so it looks like that really took the wind out of Bjorkmans sails as he lost the third 6-0! :nana Roll on the second round :drums

Good call That Robredo match slipped through my net, maybe it was late on the coupon? Looks like a good one though, that Lee has played 8 hard court tournies this year and gone out in the first round on 7! :eek Ive taken 1.69 at Betfair for Robredo. I liked the look of Haas too but couldnt pluck up the bucks to back against Agassi even off form, especially after losing with Karlovic! Haas is 1 set to the good now though so I wish I had :ok Heres hoping you get your double and I get some luck too:cheers
-
dammit Karlovic lost 6-4 7-6 :sad Im on a real tennis downer at the moment, ive lost me last four and most of my profit from Wimbledon in the process! The run cant continue....can it....?
-
Yeah I seen your post on Betfair just now so I know your not aftereventing or anything so your cool! :ok I dont post on betfair just browse it now and again. I hear what youre saying about Gaudio but surely the class gap is obvious? Also I kinda want to have a go at Hass to beat Agassi but when I used to watch Tennis a while back Agassi was brill so Im having trouble fronting up!
-
Nice one Although you have to say beforehand for anyone else to benefit ;) Ive gone for KARLOVIC to beat BOGOMOLOV at 1.73 & NOVAK to beat BJORKMAN at 1.54 Does anyone see any reason not to back Gaston GAUDIO to beat Todd REID? You can get odds of 1.74 and Gaudio is no.5 in the world to Reids no.91. Gaudio won on their only meeting and in his last 4 tournaments has reached the final in ALL 4, winning one of them. Sounds good doesnt it?

Nice Good call mate, dont be afaid to post any more advice! Looks like my Novak pick could have been good because the price has been slashed from 1.53 to 1.44 and 1.37.
-
nice one Look forward to hearing your thoughts tomorrow. Its on Sky Sports extra from 16.00 - 22.00 english time by the way :ok You have to fancy Hewitt to take Nadal but is 1.33 too short do you think? Also, when there is a game where you fancy the player to win but the odds are just no value and too short, is it worth backing the straight sets victory as a better value bet? For example Novak is 1.53 to win but 2.2 to win in 2-0 sets. Could you take a look at my post in the other tennis thread below as well please mate ;)

Bet type query Just a quick thought on the type of bet in tennis you can make.(although it apples to any sport). I have seen that often people place bets as Doubles (2 players to win their match) but after I thought about it, I didnt really see much value with this over a plain single bet on each of the two players. For example if 2 players are priced 2/5 (1.4) and you want them in a double for £10. Double for £10 = £9.60 profit 2 singles each for £10 = £8 profit There isnt much difference in the returns and incase one loses (as happens sometimes :sad ) you would only lose £6 instead of £10. I know you would lose twice as much if both players lost but the fact that youd think of a double on two short prices in the first place means this would rarely happen at all. Also with odds of evens and the like, these odds are profitable enough as singles so why put them in a double? What do people think? Is it only worth placing singles?

Thought id make a thread incase the tennis punters want to discuss any tips. I like the look of Novak to beat Bjorkman at 1.53 and obviously Grosjean to beat Carraz but I think 1.20 is a bit short to bother with.
-
A deserved bump as this horse came in nicely and I was on it thanx to Aykay :cheers
-
bugger lost on another tie break. Id hate it if I was a tennis player and I lost on successive tie breaks to lose a match. Lost both me bets today, ahh well, i'll win me next two! :ok
-
cheers Yeah cheers for your thoughts here guys, im gonna keep a closer tab on tennis and ill put up my bets here so you can see em and all that jazz. Jeffers, why is it you only bet on the slams in the main? Do you not think players put in enough effort on the lesser tournys?
-
i speak too soon 1-1 on sets now, come on JJ! :drums
-
ooh dear Johansson has lost the first set on a tie break :|
-
By the way can you recommend a good site on up in running tennis games scores? I only ever catch the results on ATPtennis.com and there must be an in-running update somewhere? Cheers
-
Still do it could still probly get on Johansson is youre quick it might not have started yet? Ive got a single on it (it doesnt matter what Grosjean does in my double now) so i hope he wins! ~fingers crossed~
-
Crap Well Okun took out beck in two sets :sad
-
Grosjean Hi there matt, Im tempted by your double but I saw Grosjean at a decent 1.53 at bet365 so went for him and Beck in my double. Im a big fan of Grosjean so perhaps im being biased but he is 6-0 on the head to heads against mallisse (who has let me down on a couple of best before so im not a fan of him!). Johansson is 1.83 on Betfair and I wouldnt mind a single on him at that price as you reccommend him, i may do.:ok
-
Cheers for the tip. Ive made a healthy profit from onedunme's tips today so have no hesitation in having a small punt on our horse here. Got a small bet at 22.00 on at Betfair and if the place odds get good enough I may have a small go at that too. Its 10/1 at willhill and ladbrokes, quite a big difference there. Lets hope it dosent bomb! :ok
-
Cheers Thanx for the info datapunter and onedunme. " The favourite in the last race on the card do less well than favourites in other races " Why is this do you think? this is one of the trends found amongst favourites in that link datapunter posted.
-
Alrighty Ive had a small punt on this one, lets hope its a close one :cheers

Idiot me that is! Im not up on horses and know very little on them so i dont know the difference between handicaps and maidens etc. Could anyone enlighten me? :unsure Also why was the link deleted? Im not advertising the site saying its good just asking opinions on it, which I cant now get cos its been deleted. Do you guys know of any good sites where I can learn about horse betting more?
-
Hi there, Ive followed a few of your selections in the past (Jeffers) and have been impressed with some of the results. I was wondering if you have a system for selecting tennis match winners of if your selections are more based on intuition or value odds? Do you just watch a lot of tennis and thus know your stuff well to bet on it and do you use sites (atptour.com) to watch player rankings etc. I really enjoyed watching some of the tennis and I like the way you can bet on it, as in there only being two outcomes - a win for one player, or a win for the other (if you get my simple crap logic!) Thats why id be interested in learning more. Id like to hear opinions of others too obviously (ive noticed Matt does quite well on Tennis also) but its just that ive actually followed some of Jeffers' tips. Thanx :ok

Are there any old threads anyone can point me in the way of on good laying schemes in football matches? I paper traded a 'system' in the last couple of months of last season which yielded decent results and was wondering what people thought were good situations to lay in. Obviously steering clear of high odds lays in given matchs (eg.8.00) but I was more interested in whether laying favourites or just more evenly matched games were good. The system I worked on last year were laying teams that were the underdog but not big underdogs. The lays were around 4.00 and odds like this. Anyway enough babbling, I know you guys can supply me with some sound info. As always, any advice appreciated :ok

Unlucky Jeffers mate I decided to leave your tip as I thought Grosjean would win 2-0, how wrong i was :eek I dont think anyone wouldve predicted Carraz in straight sets and you were right about him pushing Grosjean hard, it was just too hard!
