  1. AYR GOLD CUP Usually the winner comes in to the race in good form, and has form over 7f. Rene Mathis and Sound Advice are ticking some boxes for me but I'm taken by Glory Awaits too. Glory Awaits been running over further but likes this time of year, big drop in class here from group company, down in weight and has a great wee 5lb claimer who won for K Ryan in Ireland last week. 40s available tonight, got e/w chances

  2. Re: The Jockey Thread

Chris Meehan' date=' 10lb claimer. Jumps. One to keep an eye on. 2 wins in 5 rules rides. Can't find any background info on him but perhaps related to Brian Meehan? Riding for Mulholland and is on Uimhir A Seacht today in the 1:20 at Chepstow.[/quote'] Saw him today on ATR, said he worked for Willie Mullins but broke a leg last year... the day his cast came off Niall Mulholland offered him a job as his conditional... He was cool as a cucumber today (i hope) ;)
  3. Re: Channel 4 Racing They've spoiled it by bringing on Rishi. After his hurrying of Sir Henry on Champions Day i'm surprised he's allowed on screen again. Baffling choice IMO. I like Balding, think she's a great presenter, I've been struggling to bother watching morning line this past year, dreadful show at times, full of non-triers :) Can we also assume no more Jeremy Vile appearances too?

  4. Re: Key Race: The Lincoln Handicap Sat 31st March - Doncaster I really like Eton Forever, I know he's been working very well, his form is often unpredictable, if there's a stone in the yard, EF will find it to stand on, he's that kind of horse at times. I remember backing him as a 2 y/o at Sandown when he suffered sunstroke, often very frustrating but this is IMO, the right time to get him, the straight 8f at Doncaster on good ground is his ideal race. His defeat by Man of Action in his last run at Doncaster looks decent considering he was giving away 8lbs, and his win over CD last year in the spring mile suggest he's suited by being fresh. Best of luck everyone.

  5. Re: Jumps to Flat Switch I'm gutted he won't be riding over jumps again, had a lot of good fortune following him over the years, he's been absolutely brilliant IMO. He's had good jumps work off trainers like Jim Goldie, Richard Fahey and Kevin Ryan, so hoping he can pick up some good work up north.

  6. given the going being yeilding to soft after another downpour last night' date=' i'd be inclined to think that[b'] Dancing Rain (sire Danehill Dancer) will be better suited to conditions, especially at 9/2 on b365 and VC. In the 4.20 "women's derby", I fancy Gordon Elliot's Bondage who won at Ayr a few weeks ago in testing ground, available, 9/2 with Corals, again, suited by the soft going and has Nina Carberry on top. Last one for me, in the 450pm "Irish Rockingham", I like the look of former Michael Jarvis trained Cheviot. Been running consistently well over sprint trips this year for McCullagh, should relish the trip and be thereabouts at 8/1. I'd love to see Malcolm Saunders Captain Carey win a biggie for him, always goes consistently well and has Fran Berry on top today, would think he'd prefer it a bit faster though. But I'm going to plump for CELERINA of Tommy Stacks, with 7lb claimer Stevie Gray taking a lump off. Celerina did well at Ayr a few weeks ago, narrowly going down to 112 rated Margot Did by a small margin in a listed race on soft groundf, and available at 15/2. I'll have an e/w trixie on Dancing Rain, Celerina and Bondage. Good luck everyone
Non runner, first and second in the rockingham, i should stick to the sprints. Well done to Malcolm Saunders, always like to follow his. Sent from my GT-S5830 using PL Forum

  8. Re: Flat Racing - Sunday 5th June

anyone else see the commentary on the big race today in France. what an absolute balls up by the commentator! the colours weren't even similar and not for one second did I think my horse was in front and had won!
At least is wasn't a drunk sounding Australian accent ;)
  9. Re: Jump Racing ~ Sunday 5th June What a display of jockeyship there again from both Jason Maguire and Graham Lee there in the 430 at Perth. Jason won on Sonny Mullen (was 6/1 earlier but backed in the last half hour) for Kim Bailey, a hint in itself. Maguire won with a tremendous front running display, and showed strength to get it home under pressure from Harry Flashman who was produced in typical Graham Lee fashion, settled for the first lap in rear, improved in the back straight, and produced for a fighting finish close to home. Been a joy to watch Maguire and Lee this afternoon, i'm happier than a pig in shit today watching this racing, wish i'd given my wee boy's football a miss at lunchtime and just headed up to Perth for a relaxing day out.

  10. Re: BBC Coverage & Sam Hitchcott's Tattoo

There was a clip on Sky Sports News of an interview with the clerk of the course and they asked him one of the worst, most pathetic questions ever: Will Pour Moi fail to get the credit it deserves because it dared to beat the royal horse? WTF? :loon "Dared to beat", what is that all about. Do you think Andre Fabre might meet a grisly end in a tunnel when he's driving back through Paris? ;)
probably Spencer who'd get his head chopped off for the way Marhaba Malyoon caused all sort of traffic problems, most notably forcing Frankie's mount wide and carrying out Carlton House coming around Tattenham. They should really find a way of getting rid of the shrapnel, what's the point of trials if they're going to let 80 rated horses stink out the most important Classic race?
  11. Re: Jump Racing ~ Sunday 5th June Did I hear right there, that Paul Gallagher has been dumped by the odious cheat J Howard Johnston? Unfeckinbelievable if true. Sorry for the backer of Anay Car above, but watching Graham Lee, dumped about 5 years ago by Howard, get that horse up was tremendous. Graham Lee at his imperious best there, when he wants to win, he's my top jock.

  12. Re: Dickie Le Davoir Is dickie the hardest worked horse in training? i think ran in 400 races last year and has run around 195 times this year so far. His horse box has clocked up 185,769 miles so far. Begs the question, does Richard Guest have a yard and access to a gallup? Seriously, well done horse and trainer, much improved this year

  13. Re: Dr Marwan Koukash

With Dr Koukash it is a sport. He's not in it for the money and just likes going racing to see his horses run. Remember him doing an interview for C4 I think. Said he loved going racing at Chester and Haydock; and would rather have a winner there than Royal Ascot. A true sportsman.:ok
Yes, he's in it for the sport, but he's proved he'll stand his ground and knows the value of his pound... which means from our point of view, means we can rely on his colours.
  14. Re: Dr Marwan Koukash The situation last year with Dr. Koukash's horse being moved from David Nicholls (and later returned) was very interesting, his success rate in the last year has improved dramatically, I'm thinking that his money is being better spent and he is well worth following at Chester and Haydock in particular these days. Must admit that I had another good day thanks to a few of his horses, in particular his support of one of my favourite stables (Kevin Ryan's). Long may it continue.

  15. Re: horse this friday

yea a david nicholls horse have lost a few quid on it a few times mayb its pay back time:wall:wall
Never back an ex David Nicholls chaser mate, it's the quickest way to the poor house. David Nicholls is the worst trainer of a chaser I've ever seen in my rather unastounding life so far. In fact, don't ever bet on any current or former David Nicholls chasers, they're not worth it.:ok
