  1. Re: Royal Ascot Thurs 18th June 2:30 Royal Ascot - Monsieur Chevalier - Lay Given what the horse has done subsequently I bet the yard had a good punt on this when it sluiced up at 3/1 in its debut race - a scrubby maiden at Folkestone. It has gone on to better things and is entitled to win here but I would not take this price about a 2YO having its 5th race in just over 8 weeks with so many relative unknowns in the field, not least the Americans, who provided us with the tasty 33/1 winner on the first day. Like most of us I prefer to be "for" a horse (ie back it) but I do think, for all the reasons given this is a silly price in a race like this. Talking of which (silly prices) I reckon that laying Master Minded for the Champion Chase is an unbelievable opportunity. He is a great horse and being a racing fan would love to see him win again - but at 1.66 with say Ladbokes the price is ludicrous - with the attrition rate that would be an appaling price on his actually running!

  2. Re: Royal Ascot Thurs 18th June Sagara - 3:45 Royal Ascot Once in a way a pacemaker turns up at rewarding odds - well heres hoping. But what a horse this is - with any but the biggest yards the horse would be thestable star on what he has done - even though he is a maiden. I confess I looked at it properly only because I assumed he was a son of Sagaro - a long time favourite of mine - but it seems his dad is Saddlers Wells - not a bad stallion himself!! He was beaten 10+lengths by Yeats in this last year so some might say he has no right to win but the extra year is in his favour and against the favourite. A sporting wager!

  3. Re: HELP!!!! Where I am meant to post ...... Thanks - will no doubt find my way around in due course!!! You'll be old one day :) Thanks. Just in case I dont find it in time : Say No Now Say No Now Ascot 5.30 Respectable form and a reasonable weight and another being nibbled at. I also think the high(ish) draw is a benefit - even though there is said to be no advantage at Ascot

  5. Where do I post Sports-Punter.com tips? Sure I am being dumb (not unknown!!) but I can't see where I am meant to be posting "write-ups" re the (excellent!) Sports-Punter.com competition? If it is here then her it is!! : 14.10 Worcester - Zuwaar This is a desperate contest. The bottom weight Miss Phoebe might be the pick on form bu this is her fifth race in little over a month - a stiff task for a 4YO filly and the top weight carries 11-12 - plenty for an animal of its limited ability. Zuwaar has won a decent handicap (flat) at Haydock, has the assistance of AP McCoy and comes from a decent yard. Unless it is totally incapable of jumping it must have an outstanding chance.

  7. Re: Best bet of the day Tues 16/06/09 There are many roads to the poor house and one of the best trodden is perhaps following horses unlucky in running!! Still there is no fool like an old fool so I WILL plunge in. I think the horse would have finished very very much closer in the Guineas but for the interference and would be a very much shorter price if it had. The venerable Stoute is not known for pursuing hopeless causes and the fsct he is taking on Mastercraftsman is a tip in itself. 5pt win
