  1. Re: Rugby World Cup 2007 - Official Thread You are absolutely right...sorry about that. F*****g embarrassing to sa the least...was obviously thinking about something else (god knows what). Meant to say Samoa v South Africa. Tip doesn't change, although rationale clearly does. Sth Africa have good form going into the Cup. However, most of the pre-RWC commentary has focussed on the defencive nature and style of play which is expected to dominate, and the influence of referees. This is still worth a look imo, although I would understand if my Samoa v Scotland stuff-up has coloured yr view of my advice.

  2. Re: Rugby World Cup 2007 - Official Thread The two matches that stood out for me this weekend (incl Monday) were this morning's with Arg +11.5 (sorry for the retrospective tip) and Samoa +33.5 v Scotland. Whilst Samoe never seem to have the depth of talent all the way down their list, the do play with considerable passion and, with usual solid defence, should keep the score respectible against an average Scottish outfit. GL all.

  3. Re: AFL. Rd. 20.

A plunge on Carlton as we speak - no surprise really & knew I should have moved on the 2.85 last night :spank. 2.65 now. Might be best to wait on team selections anyway, however motivating factors (believe it or not) are big part of the reason why I believe this is roughly even money. Ash, just out of interest, why wouldn't you look at the 1-39 pt option (still at 2.90 on Sportsbet) on the Blues. Can't imagine 40+ being at risk.
  4. Re: NRL Rugby - Round 10 (May 18th - 21st)

Well donr BlackCrow, hard luck Crouch bro. wellavery good end to the weekend for me,my balance is now up to 46.7k,so a very good 6.7k profit on the weekend, very happt. I have no opinion on tomorrows match, apart from Stewart to score a try at anytime, but the match it's self,no,but it would'nt surprise me to much if the Broncos won. I'll follow you guys tomorrow so post some tips fellas, see you all on Wedesday for State of Origin. Hang on i'll have to answer some questions first..
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Jumbo, can't recall the exact history, but don't the Broncos tend to struggle around Origin time from unavailability? Would have thought this would make Manly a comfortable favourite even though understrength Broncos (again, from memory) don't get beaten by huge margins. Interested in the following: Sportsbet: Manly by 1-6 @ 5.50; by 7-12 5.00; and 13-18 5.25 (19+ is 2.75). Could therefore take all three and still be ahead of s-up 1.25. By comparison, 1-12 is at 3.00 and 13+ at 2.00 so the three bet range seems to give greater protection. I have used this sort of approach before to reduce risk and it has proved useful more often than not. Thoughts mate or anybody else?
  5. Re: NRL Rugby - Round 9 (May 11th - 14th) Jumbo, don't let the turkeys get to you. You are 100% right, we make our own decisions and we bet our own $. I'm wholly and solely responsible for my losses and, when I win and if I have taken advantage of someone else's research, I'm grateful. I don't always agree with your predictions but I certainly appreciate your effort in posting as frequently as you do and the considered appraoch you and others like Blackcrow take to all this. On saying all that, given your track record, I wish you'd pick the Dragons more often - then they might win a few knowing your $'s on them!

  6. Re: AFL Football - Round 7 (May 11th - 13th) Interesting little fun multi (Kangaroos, Collingwood, Port, Brisbane, Melbourne (to break its duck), Hawthorn & West Coast (left the Saints-Swans as being too hard to pick) at a shade over 81.00. Seems this is the first week of the seson where form may (yes, it's a big ask) win out over upsets. Have put a 2/10 on this. A big :hope

  7. Re: NRL Rugby - Round 8 (May 3rd - 7th)

Hi mate, I'm along the same lines as Crouch here mate and have already tipped the Dragon by 1-12 on Betshoot, the NRL is full of some very hard individuals,no team can win forever and no side can lose forever,I like the Dragons to get back on track this week, but I also expect the Panthers to score a few in the final 10 to bring the margin back in,sweet Bro?:dude
I should wash my mouth out for having such little faith in my own team. Appreciate the pep talk and will re-assess after tonight's game and any injury reports.
  8. Re: Golf - Wachovia Championship If it's of any use, the top two PGA.com experts for year to date have both nominated Vijay Singh as their likely winner. Here's what they both had to say: Helen Ross PGA TOUR.com Chief of Correspondents Pick: Vijay Singh Look for Vijay Singh to pad his FedExCup lead this week. He came from six strokes off the pace with a 66 to win the Wachovia Championship in 2005 and finished second in 2003. Not to mention, he's playing extremely well -- surprise, surprise -- with two wins already this year. He hasn't missed a cut in 12 starts this season and hasn't finished out of the top 20 in his last six starts. Why argue with success?

Dave Shedloski PGA TOUR.com Senior Correspondent Pick: Vijay Singh Vijay Singh. Too obvious to ignore. The FedExCup point's leader won the 2005 edition and has been in the top-10 in three of his four starts. A tie for 38th last year was an aberration, when he'd fallen into a few bad habits. He's back and better and with two wins this year already, he's got to be feeling good going to such a friendly venue. I've done reasonably well backing Stenson and Goosen thus far. Will stick with these two and add VJ for this tournament. GL & :hope :hope

  9. Re: NRL Rugby - Round 6 (April 21st - 23rd) Jumbo, I know a couple of us follow the NBA (Blackcrow, Mr F and I for three + you of course). There is a separate thread for NBA under the US Sports banner. It's been quite useful during the season and continues to be so, so far, for the play-offs. Congrats on a great punting day. I wasn't surprised to see GSW knock off Dallas although beating the League's #1 team in play-off game 1, even though GSW was one of only three teams to be consistently competitive against Dallas during the season, would have surprised many I'm sure. O-D 182.5 and U-H 185.0 tomorrow. Overs look reasonable for both I agree, but will make mind up tonight.

  10. Re: NRL Rugby - Round 6 (April 21st - 23rd) Jumbo, I'd say Campese but you'd probably shove the mouse down my throat given yr views on the rah rahs. lol. Couldn't rate Fittler ahead of the other players you named - all top shelf and difficult to separate. You are talking modern era of course so may be too far back to list the likes of Fulton, Beetson, Gasnier, Langlands etc. Quick thoughts only...
