  1. Re: June 18 - June 24 ATP - Marinko Matosevic to beat Steve Darcis @ 4/5 BET 365 Strength (5/10) Could be a close one this, however I think the barrel-chested Aussie will come out on top. He's really improved this year, even managing to win some matches on clay, and on surface more to his liking like grass we'll see if he can push on more and see how much he can really get out of his game, which revolves around solid serve and consistent heavy groundstrokes. He also showed against Gasquet that he can be cute and find angles cross court when pushed. He has played alot of tennis this year however he seems to be able to go on forever and often seems to grow stronger as he builds momentum in matches after rusty starts. He has lost a couple of matches recently on grass however these were against big servers like Tursunov. Darcis is not a big server, he's more of a solid skill all rounder and so this should turn into a battle of attrition with competitive games throughout. In this scenario I have to go with the Aussie tank. Hopefully the weather holds up because I want Matosevic to have time to get his claws into Darcis and grind him down. :hope

  2. Re: June 18 - June 24

I prefer not to get involved with moneyline in games having Lu. He is a tricky customer on grass. Best bet might be overs. As good as Ryan is' date=' he always seems to lose a set when he is leading and doing well. I think the Taipei man has a good chance to win here. He shouldn't have won against Julien. But he did. I will stay away[/quote'] If these two were playing eachother last week, in the first round or second round of Queens, I would back Lu to win pretty comfortably. He's a better mover on grass, however it's all about timing and I don't think we'll see him at the same level as last week. He may be looking to rest up for Wimbledon. Harrison will be looking for game time.
  3. Re: June 18 - June 24 ATP Eastbourne - Ryan Harrison to beat Yen Hsun-Lu @ 5/6 BET 365 Strength (6/10) Nice price on Ryan here. Was very impressed with him against Simon at the French for the first couple of sets before cracking mentally and he looked nice and solid against Pospisil in the first round. Nice and solid probably sums up Harrison at this point in his career; he definately lacks inspiration and real variety but on grass his basic game consisting of an excellent serve and consistent ground strokes are pretty effective. I think he'll be a tough nut to crack for Lu, who loves the grass, but had a pretty gruelling week at Queens as well another toughy today against Benneteau. Fancy him to have a bit of a letdown and Harrison should take advantage. He beat Lu in three close sets last year and a similar match wouldn't surprise me. :hope

  4. Re: June 18 - June 24 ATP Wimbledon qualifier: Roberto Bautista-Agut to beat Sergei Bubka @ 5/6 BET 365 Strength (6/10) Like Bautista-Agut here. Big fan of the guy, a real dogged customer who seems to thrive in battles of attrition and often comes out on top in those scenarios. He also can play on a high level on the faster courts and is not just limited to clay. Bubka a talented lad with a good game for grass but he's inconsistent and I fancy the Spaniard to sneak this one and be the one who holds it together at the business end of the match. :hope

  5. Re: French Open 2012 Livescore Thread

Think Ferrer beats Murray tbh, but odds look too short for me. You'd expect some tight sets but Murray will have to start alot better as Ferrer wont let him away with what Nieminen and Gasquet did. Would be a good scalp for Murray if he gets the win, Ferrer is one tough mofo on clay.
Just wonder about Ferrer's ability under pressure and closing out. Murray will love being underdog in this and testing out Ferrer's nerve. I'll make a decision about it tomorrow and try and sense what mood Murray will turn up in, and also see what the situation is with the back.
  6. Re: French Open 2012 Livescore Thread Yes definately agree on Almagro - Nadal. Almagro has the power to hit through Nadal - unlike Monaco - and has done pretty well against him in the last few matches. Hoping for heavy and slow conditions which will suit Almagro's flat backhand. If the sun's out and the ball bounces high then Almagro will shank too many. Hopefully the bookies overreact to the thrashing of Monaco and set the line low.

  7. Re: French Open 2012 Livescore Thread

Murray-Ferrer atm thinking either overs or Murray on the handicap. I THINK Ferrer will win' date=' but the fact that he hasn't had any sort of challenge so far may hamper him. Murray should have chances tbh.[/quote'] Just feel that Murray gets stressed and antsy when another player has the temerity to actually play positive against him and hit winners, whereas Ferrer will have trouble hitting through him like a Berdych or Del Potro and Murray will just love the cat and mouse element. Overs is a good shout because Ferrer probably start off like a house on fire and Murray could look a bit out of his depth early on.
  8. Re: French Open 2012 Livescore Thread What are the thoughts on Ferrer - Murray? Think Murray will relish the challenge and if he's get in that obdurate mindset then he's tough to beat. Although Ferrer has a winning record on clay against I think Murray is comfortable with the challenge he presents, especially over five sets. He'll just run Ferrer to a standstill.

  9. Re: French Open 2012 Shocking from Pavlychenkova ; shocking match in general. Hopefully Granollers can win but regardless that's me done for the French Open, not reading anything right in the tournament so far. Hopefully Wimbledon throws up a better draw with a few more interesting matches. Good calls on here today so far, Fishy on Mayer-Almagro and Dylan on Li-Mchale particularly impressive.

  10. Re: French Open 2012 You can definately make an argument for Mathieu winning, even though I think he'll lose. Class wise he's a better player, very solid off both wings and has given top players over the years fits before tightening up. Not sure he's ever really lived down that Davis Cup match versus Youzhny in that regard. On Granollers, just found out recently that he was ill in that surprise defeat to Gil in Barcelona and if you look at this record aside from that he's been pretty solid in recent months. It should be a cracker anyway.

  11. Re: French Open 2012 Yep, I took Granollers a little while ago, just as he drifted out. Marcel Granollers to beat Paul Henri-Mathieu @ 11/10 BET 365 Strength (6/10) I think Mathieu's run ends here. Besides the fact he's coming off a physically and mentally draining match against Isner, Mathieu has been very inconsistent this year in general, playing well in first rounds and then losing with a whimper in the next. Granollers will turn it into a dogfight and bring more variation than Isner; get under the Frenchman's skin a little. It could well go four of five sets as Granollers is not exactly one to win matches too comfortably at Grand slam level but I think he'll prove be a bit too much for a jaded Mathieu who as I said, is erratic as it is. He certainly won't capitulate like Bjorn Phau did in the first round. Anastasia Pavlychenkova to beat Klara Zakopalova @ 4/5 Strength (6/10) The Russian seems to be finding some semblence of form in recent weeks after a pretty horrific few months on tour, and I fancy her to beat the Zakopalova here. She's got a bigger game than the Czech and should be too strong from the baseline - also her serve looks to have improved in recent matches. She will looking to emulate her run at Roland Garros last year and although Zakopalova had a good win in the last round and has been in decent form, she's often found wanting at this stage of a Grand Slam. :hope

  12. Re: French Open 2012

Don't let those idiots put you off mate. Everyone who is a regular to PL knows full well that you don't copy others in the slightest and tons of people want to read your views' date= fact. Speaking personally, and I know I'll be speaking for tons of others as well, your posts, as well as a few others on here are the ones I always enjoy reading. Given all the rubbish that has gone on in the tennis threads for the past couple of months, you always bring a distinct level of sophistication (minus the deathly threats yesterday ;)) to the place which is what is needed. I look forward to reading what your thoughts are on tomorrow :ok
    Hear hear!
  13. Re: French Open 2012

Is it just me or does anyone else think Cilic has a legit chance to nick this tie?? I d say Cilic is good value at 3.5 (pinnacle). From what I saw, he could have lost against someone slightly better than ER Vasselin. Cilic is looking good. If he can just keep his game, I think Del Potro would just fade. Opinions from Slider Fishy Alo Atko and others would be much appreciated.. cheers
It's similar in some ways to Anderson - Berdych. Both guys with big games but one just does it better than the other and so invariably they come up short. I can never trust Cilic these days since his injury. Can just throw in really odd inept displays whereas before the injury he was always a pretty reliable performer.
  14. Re: French Open 2012 Livescore Thread Looking a great call from Psycho on Kuz. Radwanksa is wet flannel in grand slams. Bet free for me as well apart from Anderson dabble. Been a fairly trappy card in general this week imo, had no choice really but to stick to overs/unders market. Maybe it will open up as the tournament progresses.

  15. Re: French Open 2012 Livescore Thread I never ever get involved with these sort of matches IAG, too much can go wrong and time and wear and tear can make a mockery of previous head to heads. In this particular match I can understand the reasoning behind Petrova but I'm wondering if is this the same Petrova as previous years? At the start of the year she looked gone to me, but it seems as if she's got a bit of old steel back, however it could just be a bit of an illusory shell, like Ali-Holmes, and Stosur might just do a 6-3 6-2 job. Petrova is a bit like Kuznetsova though in that she comes alive in Grand Slams. From your comments it seems as if you're leaning Petrova and I wouldn't dissuade you from it. However this probably will be one the last years you can get a bit of juice out of the old gal.

  16. Re: French Open 2012 Livescore Thread Get in Anderson son. Stuck a cheeky fiver on him earlier. Berdych has a habit of doing this when he looks serene and in form ; still hasn't quite got rid of the the inconsistent demons that dogged him earlier in his career. Anderson has got a big game though and can take matters out of your hands. The bookies still think he'll come back though. Probably will, Anderson can wilt.

  17. Re: French Open 2012 Livescore Thread

Ivanovic is a pure nutjob' date=' annoying as hell with her fistpumps and celebrations after every point. Glad Errani pulled through, makes the most of what she has.[/quote'] Not sure what's going on with her. Lost all that weight that made her fit in the first place and then all the weird contrived fist pumps. She should be on Jersey Shore.
  18. Re: French Open 2012

Few indifferent days for me personally. Quite what Murray's deal is I don't know but I'm not overly convinced by the back spasm story. Not too unhappy with taking him on the handicap as but for that ridicouls stuff in the first set, he would have covered it easily. The overs in the Almagro-Baggy match feel a tad short as well which was disappointing. With the Bartoli outright settled as well, it leaves me on +8.25 for the tournament. Still some really good calls in the forum especially with the overs shouts today :clap
You were incredibly unlucky on that bet. Murray ruined it with his sulk routine in the first set.
  19. Re: French Open 2012 On that earlier issue that's already been dealt with, one of I'mLovingIt's tips was also plagiarised on another site as well a few weeks back - the Kiki Bertens one. So it wouldn't be the first time tips from PL have been copied. It doesn't really bother me but a bit rich when someone claims the punters on here are the plagiarisers!
