  1. Re: Rugby Union Super 14 Week 2 Hurricanes under 42.5 Hurricanes were pretty ridinary except for a brief spell in the first half and now look to atone for that loss with a win here against the Reds who played reasonably well but also were fortunate with some decisons going their way. They have a terrible record in New Zealand. Both teams played pretty well defensively last week and have each got a good set of forwards. I expect that where most of the game will be played as each side will have a more cautious approach, as shown last week where the ball was mainly kept in the forwards

  2. Re: UEFA Cup 21 February Bayer Leverkusen over 2.5 @ 1.90 Match is pretty even after the 0-0 first leg. Leverkusen have some good players and will be glad to be playing at home in more comfortable surroundings. Look to them to show a big improvement on their first leg performance. At home in the bundesliga they are quite capable of scoring a couple of goals, with 19 goals in 9 home games. Galatasaray have gone over in 6 of their last 8 away games in european cup competition. In the first leg they had quite a few chances to score and should be able to continue making more chances here, and hopefully leading to goals this time. Bordeaux over 2.5 @ 2.15 Bordeaux have gone over in their last 5 UEFA caup games this season as they have shown in the French league that they play an attacking brand of football that saw them thump Monaco 6-0 on the weekend. Anderlecht have scored and conceded in their last 4 UEFA Cup games and with them leading 2-1 form the first leg, look to this tie to be an open affair, especially if Bordeaux score first Tottenham -1.5 @ 2.00 Spurs are leading only 201 after the away leg but now back at home they should finish them off. They should have been up by 4 or more goals away to Slavia Prague who only scored due to a very poor goalkeeping error. Now at White Hart Lane, Spurs have a very good record and should win comfortably Everton -1.5 @ 1.98 Everton lead 2-0 after the first leg and this should be a formality. They have a very good home record in the EPL and Brann haven't really showd much so far, except to see that they are out of their depth in this match up. Everton will want to win this game with goals for their fans so expect them to win by at least a couple of goals

  3. Re: Champions League (Feb 20th) Arsenal Arsenal have shown this year how good they are with the class of players like Fabregas and Adebayor who have taken them to the top of the EPL. Forget the result against Man Utd, Wenger wants to go all the way here and make it a double with the EPL. Milan have injury concerns especially their keeper Kalac who has been in great form recently and as well as the best player in the world (Kaka). They are not playing at their capabilities and will have a defensive approach to their game as they see a draw here as a big result to take back to Milan. However this will only allow Arsenal to keep probing for the goal, and as was witnessed last night in the Liverpool and Inter game, the italians have problems with the English teams with the pace of their game and and how well they close down the opposition when they have the ball. Arsenal seem to be playig a lot better than Milan in their respective leagues, so look to them to go to Milan with a victory under their belt. Celtic over 2.5 Celtic by their nature are not a team that sits back and defends. They will go out to win this game especially they know that they need to get a good result here to take back to Barcelona on the return leg if they wish to progress. Barcelona have niot plaeyd as well as they can recently but when you see the kind of players that they have brought, you would expect them to play the classy players they have to go out and win the game. This should be an open game and one that i favour Barca to win but Celtic also have a very good home record. For this reason, i wouldn't be surprised if Celtic comes out and wins this game but it would with a 2-1 or so result. Should see the over as both teams should score and from then on, both will look to get the win. Fenerbahce over 2.5 Seven of Fener's last 10 home games in the CL have gone over. Looking at their recent domestic games, the last 8 games all have gone over, as while they have been able to score quite easily they have only had one clean sheet in these games. Sevilla have gone over in 6 of their last 8 games and they too have found it easy to score while also allowing goals in these games. Should be goals here Man Utd Man Utd have been impressive in the EPL this year with Ronaldo in standout form. Defensively they have been rock solid at the back and have the players ot hold Lyon out. Lyon are not the same team as previous year's who were often seen as the dark horse in this competition. While they have some good players, their defense has some supsect players like Boumsong who was a poor player at Newcastle. Man Utd look like taking a lead back to Old Trafford

  4. Re: Rugby Union Super 14 Week One Waratahs over 44.5 You would expect both teams to hit each other pretty hard in the forwards early on, as they both boast some big players and overall, monster packs. Once they have finished softening each other up, look to both sides to spread the ball. Waratahs coach McKenzie knows that he is under presuure in his last season of his contract to get the results required so look to him to poen the game up for his team. The Hurricanes like the Waratahs have some good quality backs there, so once the back rows are finished, look to each to exploit any tiredness around the rucks. With the new rules looking to speed the game up, both teams will look to play on pretty quickly, so these forwards might start to feel the pinch later on. While the Hurricanes have a good record against the Waratahs, the 'tahs have the personnel to win this games if their very intensive training sessions are anything to go by. Look to points being scored in the last quarter of the game to send it over.

  5. Re: Rugby Union Super 14 Week One Blues over 46.5 Both sides have been hit by the loss of key players but more commonly in the forwards rather than the backs. The Blues have added Evans in midfield to really give it some creativity and this should present alot of opportunties to the flyers in the centres and the wings. The Chiefs are a team that really plays well against the Blues having won on the last 2 occasions and they too have some very good players in the backline who have quite a bit of sevens experience. If both set of coaches are willing to use their respective backlines, then this should be a try fest.

  6. Townsville -7.5 A win here and Townsville should be able to receive a home semi final game while for Gold Coast they can onyl finish 7th or 8th. Even though Gold Coast have beaten Townsville twice this year, Twonsville have a very good record at home with 3 losses and have only not scored 100 points twice. Gold Coast were very disappointing midweek and while they may improve their preformance here, it is hard to see them stopping the form of Corey Williams here. He should lead Townsville to a very good victory

  7. Re: Rugby Union Super 14 Week One Crusaders -17.5 Loss of Mortlock, Gregan and Larkham is massive for the Brumbies and one wonders how they will be able to stop the Crusaders, especially with Carter showing the way, have a decisive class edge. Carter should have too much nous against his inexperienced halves while McCaw should be able to drive the Crusaders pack into Brumby territory quite easily

  8. Re: UEFA Cup (Feb 13-14) Bayern Munich -1.5 Aberdeen come into this game with a host of injuries and a poor result against Celtic on the weekend. Bayern will be disappointed with there draw with Bremen which they dominated, so look them to make the most of the Scottish side plagued with problems. Though Bayern have some injuries, they have too much class for Aberdeen Hamburg Zurich have been disappointing in their domestic league having lost 3 of their last 4 including on the weekend to St Gallen. Hamburg have won their last 3 on the road in this competition so they like to play in the road. While they have a few players missing, they do have van der vaart playing and this playmaker has been very good for them lately. Defesnsively they are quite solid and don't allow many goals in. Fiorentina Rosenborg will come into this game having finished their domestic season back in November. Their lack of reguakr macth practice should tell here against an in form Fiorentina side that also sees the return of Mutu to their lineup. Fiorentina have too many good players for Rosenborg who should find it hard to contain the speed of Fiorentina's attacks. Tottenham Slavia Prague are just coming out of their winter break so look to them being a bit rusty in this game especially agaisnt a Spurs side that has played all through winter and now are starting to play some good consistent football. Spurs defeated Derby 3-0 on the weekend and have looked more solid at the back recently while still attacking with the same flair

  9. Re: UEFA Cup (Feb 13-14) Villareal There is some concern that the game will be played in cold conditions and the ground may be poor as well but the Russians haven't played a competitive match for a couple of months and have lost a couple of players as well as having injury concerns about a few others. Villareal are in 3rd place in the much superior Spanish league and have quite a few talented players who should win this game. Everton Brann may be considered fortunate to get this far as they haven't really done much, but just enough to qualify for this stage of the UEFA Cup. They haven't played for awhile and now meet an in form side who are riding high in the EPL. Everton have played well in this cup competition and should win these games to advance further in the competition Werder Bremen over 2.5 Bremen are a team that likes to attack and have scored 30 goals in 10 home games in the Bundesliga. They will play their natural game which is very attack oriented and will look to have a sizeable advantage going to the return fixture in Portugal. Braga are a team who can also score and while they will be wary of the danger Bremen poses, they also know that a goal here will be a huge plus to take back for the return game.

  10. Re: Africa Cup of Nations - semis 7/2 Ghana over 2.5 Both Ghana and Cameroon have shown that they can score goals during the tournament and this should continue here. Cameroon have shown that they also have problems defending, as even though they have scored 15 goals in their 4 games they have let in 5 goals while Ghana have scored 7 and conceded 2. However Ghana will find it difficult to stop the form of Etoo especially without Mensah back in the defensive line while Ghana should be able to score against Cameroon Ivory Coast over 2.5 Ivory Coast have score 13 goals and conceded just 1 while Egypt have scored 10 and conceded 4. Drogba and Kalou have been in great form for Ivory Coast and they should cause plenty of problems for the Egyptians who also have the played pretty well in the tournament. Their cause should be hepled by the likely absence of Toure in the Ivorians backline. While the Ivorians have shown that they are thw class team of the tournament, the Pharoahs should not be underestimated as they too have deserved their place in the top 4. Both teams should be able to score on each other and look for either side to send it over with the winner.

  11. Re: Oz v Qatar WC Qual Australia -2.5 Australia have most of their overseas players returning for the game and based on their natural instincts, they will look to attack from the outset. They realise the importance of getting off to a great start in their world cup campaign, and in front of a huge Melbourne crowd, the class advantage should see a comfortable victory for the socceroos.

  12. Minor Semi Final First Leg: Sydney v Queensland Pick: Sydney Sydney has the better form coming into this game and especially have a good record against Queensland. They have a full strength lineup except for the suspended Zadkovich, while Queensaldn are missing Tiatto. Not only have Sydney the better form but they do have the experience on their side. While many of the players are in the prime stage of their careers, they have also played at higher levels and bring with them the experience of playing in cut throat conditions. As for Queensland, many of them are younger and hence inexperienced with the pressure of these situations, and may be found wanting. Their coach Farina will play this one cautiously, as they will not want to go home for the second leg with a deficit, so it will Sydney who i assume will go into this game with the greater desire to push forward and score.

  13. Last round of the A League with four teams locked on 31 points: Newcastle, Central Coast, Sydney and Queensland. All are fighting for the top spot to get an Asian Champions League spot, so look for each of these four teams to give it their all. Newcastle over 2.5 Newcastle have gone over in their last matches as well as their last 2 home games. They have scored at least two goals in their last 3 games and have conceded at least once in each of their last 4. Perth have gone over in 5 of their last 6 games as well as their last 2 away games. Both teams have ordinary home and away form but they do average at least scoring and conceding a goal a game. Newcastle needs to win this game to get top spot however they have a poor run against perth at home. They have lost all 4 home games to Perth but have gone over in each of them. I'll take the more likely result rather than sweating on a Newcastle win Central Coast over 2.5 Central Coast need to win this game to take top spot but their current poor has been very poor. They have 1 win, i draw and 4 losses from their last 6 games, and especially have lost their last 3 at home. However, their last 5 of 6 games have gone over, including their last 3 at home. Wellington have nothing to lose in this game, and will come with that same attitude into this game. They have won two of their last 3 away games and have gone over in 4 of their last 6 away games, including their last 2 away. Goals are likely in this encounter Sydney over 2.5 Big grudge match between the two biggest teams in the league. Melbourne can't make the top 4 but would love to put a big dent in their chances of getting the top spot. Sydney have got some good form lately having won 3, drawn 1 and lost 1 (which was at home while the other 4 were away). They have gone over in 3 of their last 5 games and have scored 2 goals in at least 4 of their last 5. Melbourne are the form team having won their last 3 games. They have gone over in their last 6 games including their last 3 away. They have scored at least 2 goals in their last 5 games and have conceded at least once in 5 of their last 6. This will be a blockbuster and goals will be scored as top spot as well as bragging rights are up for grabs Queensland Adelaide have some poor form coming into this game. They have lost their last 4 games including their last 2 at home Queensland will know by the start of this game what they will need to do after the other 3 games have been played. More than likely they will have to win this game, and possibly by a couple of goals as first place gets a spot in the Asian Champions League. While they are not noted goalscorers, they can score when the setting asks them to, so look to them to go all out and record a big score against a poor Adelaide side. They did beat Perth 4-1 on their last away trip. Queensland have won their last 2 games in Adelaide
