There is something quite comforting that knowing your strike rate is 30% and when you hit on a poor streak of say 13 losers, that this is really just variance and should be expected.. Lets be honest on a run like that, the more fickle ones amongst us would have long since moved on to try a different strategy by then. As regards my selections, well my last system(Based on price),did okay and was profitable after its 200 selection trial(i think with days away racing and work days i only managed to post around 100 of them on here).Unfortunately whilst profitable, it was not quite profitable enough to make my portfolio, although i am continuing to monitor. You should never stand still in this game and i am always testing new ideas and strategies. Most are unsuccessfuI and bomb out big time, but i do have a system that is currently doing well in trials and is proving profitable so far at Betfair S.P. This is quite unusual given that price is everything. I had been considering putting the selections up on this forum, but am a little wary given we are soon to change seasons..

If you are unlikely to fail to find a winner in 8 attempts WW then your strike rate would have to be about 60% or higher. Not impossible granted, but very impressive by anyone's standards. The table below is one i use and is most enlightening. Especially regarding strike rates and the anticipation of the length of losing runs..
