15.15 Pontefract: Descaro @ 7/1 Bet365 Solar View looks a worthy favourite here but is way too short and therefore opposable for me as you never know how much these 3yo's can improve. He has to overcome a hefty raise in the mark as well what makes him vulnerable to proven stayers like Descaro and Petella in my mind. The former one is my choice for the BBOTD as I think he showed a return to form lto when finishing 3rd at Thirsk, only 1¼ lengths beaten while looking the likely winner 2f out, though he had to pay tribute for pulling hard in the early stages of the race so that he tired badly in the final furlong. Yet it was a fine performance. Descaro didn't win since last October when he landed a similar Handicap like tomorrows race in good style of a 5lb higher mark than his current one here at Pontefract. He's very much a Pontefract sepcialist anyway, having won two races and having been three times placed in nine starts at this track. He'll certainly relish to be back around this place. Jockey booking looks significant as well as Tudhope is back in the saddle who is enjoying a healthy 18% strike rate with trainer O'meara this year. I'll have a safer on Petella who looks also well handicapped and therefore overpriced. She won this race here last year in impressive style, achieving a career best. She didn't show much after but that she's now down to her last winning mark again and should also be happy to be back at Pontefract. She also will very much appreciate the fast going as almost all her good performances came on ground where the word "firm" appeared in the description.

Re: BBOTD - Sunday 19th August *Muntasir - Pontefract 2:45* This horse has been in very good form on it's last few runs, not out of the first 2 on it's last 4 runs. Ran very well on it's only run at this track where it finished 2nd. Won easily over this trip at Kempton two starts back, and nothing wrong with it's 2nd to Bridgehampton at Sandown last time out. Frankie Dettori rides and he has won on this horse before. Bin Suroor stable is flying with 3 of their last 8 runners winning and at Pontefract the stable are 17 winners from 56 runners, and a profit of +£7.82 to level stakes.
