Flat racing - Friday 22nd

Recommended Posts

16.00 Redcar: Kiwi Bay @ 9/2 Paddy Power Kiwi Bay is a different horse at Redcar and is running at this track for the first time since he won here last year in October. He won that day of a mark off 84 and is tomorrow down to 85 after a couple of rather uninspiring performances off higher marks. He won already in the past off 89 so he should be capable of winning from his current mark anyway. He's not too dependent on the ground, so if the rain arrive he probably won't mind it. Think he has the conditions for the first in his favour again after some time and in a small but not too competitive field where a solid pace looks on the card he might have enough to offer to get back to the winning ways. 17.35 Ascot: Mia's Boy EW (5 places) @ 28/1 Bet365 Think Mia's Boy could run a big race drawn beside the fron-running The Rectifier. His turf mark hasn't been that low since he won a Handicap Listed race at York in 2008. Well, he is already 8 years old but looks still competitive and full of enthusiasm. He ran a super race at Lingfield ten days ago, finishing second just half a lengths beaten. He has won on all kinds of ground so I assume that the soft ground at Epsom won't really bother him. He has been beaten a long way in two starts on turf this year but that were strong Handicaps and he raced from higher marks. Down to a mark off 94 and with a return to form as seen at Lingfield recently I think he has a chance to run very well.

Re: Flat racing - Friday 22nd 2:30 Royal Ascot: Newfangled 1pt win 9/4 Betfred & Sandreamer 1pt e/w 16/1 Ladbrokes (1/4 123) Newfangled is hard to get away from here even in a big field of lightly raced sorts. She could go on to better things and her maiden win was acheived on a softish surface. She went well through the race and showed a burst of acceleration at the finish which marked her down as potentially high class. John Gosden was looking to this race as the next target. Sandreamer represents Mick Channon who has an excellent record in the short history of this race. she also won well on her debut and represents some value with the yard in decent form. 3:45 Royal Ascot: Irish History 1pt e/w 20/1 Ladbrokes (1/4 123) With a slight question mark over some of the form in this years Classics, it might be worth chancing a lightly raced filly in this. Irish History will need to step up as on form she has loads to do however there is a decent chance she might. Being by Dubawi her breeding gives her a chance. Mahmood Al Zarooni does well at Ascot as does Mickael Barzalona. 5:00 Royal Ascot: Estimate 1pt win 11/2 Bet365 Estimate is the only filly in this race an represents The Queen. She won her maiden over a mile and a half at Salisbury on good to soft and bred by HH The Aga Khan Estimate has the bloodline to suggest she will stay the two miles. Sir Michael stoute knows what it takes to win this race and he is running nicely in to form after a slow start.
