  1. Re: Omaha Massacre!!!! Hey Gaf, First I am arse at PLO/8 and have been known to not even read my hand correctly. Calculating who has the best of it is always a nightmare so best to use programs. Check out http://www.pokerhand.org/index.php?page=calc for this. In the first hand, for example, the hand equity on the flop was as follows :- Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 666 enumerated boards containing Ts 9d 8d cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV Js 2d Qh 8h 20 20 225 421 0 0 0 0.294 9c Ad 5d 6h 183 189 477 0 180 0 0 0.367 3s Qd Jd 7h 36 36 209 421 27 75 0 0.339 Now according to this you was actually the biggest dog of the 3 on the flop. I guess this is because the other QJ had a redraw to the flush and you had no draw to the low. Didn't get round to running the other 2 hands through the calcualtor but if you do it I would be interested to see the results. GL at PLO8 - is a game I would really love to get in to if I didn't have a Wife, job, 2 kids and a mortgage to worry about.

  2. Re: Parbet relaunch

just registered after playing the $25nl($0.15/$0.25) 6 handed games for enough mpps. showing $240 profit from $50 deposited ($96 rake!)
How many hands was this MP? Might be worth me giving it a go if I can clear the hands quickly 4 tabling.
  3. Re: Parbet relaunch Just deposited here to make the 200MPPs for the freeroll. Wish I'd have checked first as the STT's are really slow to get going, I'm just about to start my 3rd STT about 30mins after starting the first. A change of plan is needed, either 6max or get on the cash tables.

  4. Re: 2007 Targets Progressing okay on the cash games so far. Just broke through the $500 barrier from the initial $10 freebie. I will start 4 tabling the $50 buy-in tables once I go back to cash games. Gonna spend the rest of the month trying to get the 200MPPs for the Parbet freeroll. Only running at 16% ROI at the moment which is very poor indeed. Running shite on the MTT's but your not gonna hear any bad beat stories from me. Blog updated with progress to date. FBF

  5. Re: CardPlayer Norge Semi Finals

Good luck to you both' date=' but you're both up against fellow EMSers of mine, so you're not in for an easy ride. Anyone know anything about ste200000000? Not seen him/her play myself...[/quote'] EatMyStack I presume? Not got anything on ste. I'm sure it will be a good competition. GL at the tables.

  7. Re: Into 2007 with a bang Excellent result mate, I also put Mr Aki on the club draw so maybe I should think about stepping up to 25/50 rather than the 0.1/0.2 I'm playing at the moment ;) No chance 'cause I'm a risk averse little biaach and I'd get my arse spanked. 150BB pots are huge so I would imagine the swings are massive at this level. Do you keep track of your long-term results in BB? I would be interested in hearing what range of BB/100 you think is achievable at these stakes? I would guess that any player beating this level for 2BB/100 over 100k hands is a top player. Thats £100k/year if you can play about 8k hands/month. Massive cahunas fella. Hopefully by the time I'm 40 I may be sitting down to play with you. FBF

  9. Re: Player Analysis

I've also begun my cash game improvement quest on Ladbrokes, I was given some free cash on there and decided to concentrate on the cash games. I have started to use Poker Tracker also - i don't bother with it for tourneys. I was previously playing a little cash on Betfair , but the hand histories aren't importable so switched to Laddies. I have previously been quoted on here saying how much In detest the Prima Interface but playing in the Mini View is fine, as it shows amounts bet. Although I am starting at the very bottom and only moving up when i have 10 buy ins for the next level - and will move back down if I lose 5 buy-ins My goal is to win 1 max buy-in per day, and am currently a little behind schedule. I hope to meet you pair on my rise up through the ranks - what I'd like to know is how feasible is it to keep winning 1 max buy in per day as the levels increase (By 1 max buy in i mean 100*BB which it seems to be at the low levels) I seem to do far better profitwise on the shorthanded tables - but tend to play 1 *6 handed and 1 *10 handed games at once.(Find it stops boredom creeping in)
VoJ I am doing something very similar to you with a free $10 I got Laddies and will also be stepping up once I have 10 buy-ins for the next level, and stepping down when I lose 5 buy-ins. Currently I've got the free $10 upto $310 over nearly 5k hands. When you say very bottom are you referring to the beginners tables (0.01/0.02)? I'm currently on the $0.1/$0.2 NLHE tables but could step up to the 0.15/0.3 tables (although there are never many of them running). IMHO your goal is a little to aggressive. It should work at the lower levels but as you move up I don't think you will be able to sustain that win rate. For example, at the $0.1/$0.2 level I am beating it for 16BB/100 hands over 5k hands (really small sample so I could be on a major rush - although I don't think so). The best player I have in my database (with at least 1k hands) is beating that level for 20BB/100. I think that 25-30 is achievable but at the expense of only one tabling. If you make 20BB/100 then it is going to take 500 hands to make your 100BB target. My stats indicate I can get just under 50 hands per full ring table, which is about 10 table hours - 2.5 hours if 4 tabling (like me) and 5 hours if 2 tabling. Granted you will get more hands in on the 6max tables but 2 tabling you are still probably looking at 4 hours a day to achieve you goal. How many hands do you think you will play a month? As you go above the 0.1/0.2 levels the win rates will decline. I have been a limit player for the past 2 years so I don't know what is achievable in the long-run at the higher stakes. I would imagine that by the time we get to $1/$2, with a $200 buy-in, that 5BB/100 is a good win rate. If we do end up to be that 'good' then we are looking at 20 table hours to make 100B/day. 10 hours if 2 tabling 10 handed, so I would start to think about 4 tabling to take the boredom away; more achievable at full ring than 6max. Another way of thinking about the feasibility of winning 1 buy-in per day is to see where you would be by the end of the year. If you play 5 days/week then in only about 60 days my rough calculations indicate that, if you started on the $20 tables with $200 in you bankroll, then you would be playing at the $5/$10 tables with $10k in you bankroll. This just isn't going to happen, although I would love you to prove me wrong. If you are 4 tabling the $200 tables by the end of the year then that would be some achievement IMHO (unless you can play a scary amount of hands - 20k+/month). Therefore is summary I think you probably can win 100BB/day up to the 0.1/0.2 ($20 buy-in) but after that it would become more difficult. Another thought I would recommend you consider is the increased variance you will experience on the 6max tables. Whilst you are performing better in these I think there is more chance of you losing 5 buy-ins and having to step down than there would be on the 10 handed tables. I would advise either needing 20 buy-ins to step up (and step down if losing 10 buy-ins) or focus on 10 handed games only. Hope this helps and would be interested to see how you progress. :ok Hopefully we will both be 4 tabling the $200 tables by the end of the year. :cheers FBF
  10. Re: Player Analysis I've got nearly 800 hands on Player 1 and his main stats are :- 20.86%/3.92%/1.35 So pretty similar to the stats you had. He is making up the SB 64% of the time in my stats so a bigger leak than you thought. Surprisingly he is a (8.9)BB/100 loser in my stats so that just shows how small our samples are. I contributed to one of his biggest losses when he RR my PF raise with bullets. His VPIP range includes SC, connectors and suited one gappers. PF Raise is AA-JJ (I have a JJ limp in EP), AKo, KQo. Pocket Pairs in LP. He tend to raise between 3 and 5 times the BB with these hands. 6 check raises (1.31%) of the time. The one I saw was on the turn with bottom pair and a flush draw. Can't think of anything else to take a look at. Any ideas?

  11. Re: Player Analysis Only just spotted this post GaF. As you know I have started my NL Challenge on Laddies and I am currently running at 15BB/100 over 5k hands on the $20 buy-ins. There are so many fish at this level that we probably wouldn't need to analyse the players but as I step up in levels I am sure this player analysis will become even more important. Would be happy to work on a couple of players with you and maybe even exchnage databases as I have got quite a bit datamined. Having the databses will allow us to quote hands etc. Finding the time to do it may be a problem but let me know what you think. PM me the name of the guy in the original post and I'll see what I have on him and send you a post. FBF

  12. Re: 2007 Targets

Hi mate. To me it seems you have a lot of objectives. Surely there should be one objective - to improve your game' date= be a better player than 2006! And if that means a better ROI%, a better grand total profit$ or winning a big prize tourney$ then so be it.
Couldn't agree more mate and the objective of improving my game is implicit in the other objectives for 2007. My problem is that I have bonus whored for the past 2 years and my main objective has been to make money. As long as I was a break-even player I was making good money and never really strived to improve my game. The goals for 2007 should require me to improve my game as I am going to move up in stakes each time my bankroll permits. I expect to move up and then have to move back down again as my game won't be up to the higher stakes. If I am to move up and stay there then I am sure I will need to analyse my game in PT and improve on it. ALso, if I just set a goal of improve my game I would probably lose motivation and fock it off. These objectives give me something tangible to aim for.
  13. I've enjoyed the break from poker during December but I am chomping at the bit to get started again in January. I am the kind of person/spanner that likes to set targets and goals and whilst I have posted these on my blog I wanted to put them up here as another record for me to be held to account against. I would welcome comments, criticisms & suggestions on the goals. Too easy? Too hard? Waste of time? Any I am missing?

    1. NLHE Tournaments – Punters Lounge Best Poker Player (BPP) I was going to take it easy here and suggest a top 5/10 position on the Punters Lounge Best Poker Player (BPP) table. However I am going to stretch myself and go for the top spot. There are some very good players on PL and a number of them have progressed from low limit tournaments to higher buy-ins. Achieving BPP would be a significant achievement for me and would require a considerable amount of time and effort. I would imagine I would need to play the BPP tourney every night for at least 30 days to have any chance. Top 5 spot would be acceptable, anything less wouldn’t. 2. NLHE Tournaments – 20% ROI from all tournaments Having done a quick google search on reasonable ROI’s from MTT’s it would appear (from 2+2) that 15% is a good return. Therefore to make this a tougher target I am going to aim for a 20% return. What I hope will give me a chance of achieving this is that I intend to focus my tournament play on the added value tournaments. The Sporting Odds champions league being an obvious example as well as the Punters Lounge added value tournaments. There are also going to be a number of freerolls included, such as Virgin V points, and whilst variance will be high, the ROI will be stonking ;) This goal will also obviously include the tournaments from 1 above and I expect to be playing between 15 and 30 tournaments a month. 3. NLHE Cash Games – Turn $10 into $2,000 Ladbrokes kindly gave me $10 for free earlier this year and from dabbling at the $0.1/$0.2 NLHE tables over a few thousand hands I have got that up to $190. As I have nothing to lose I want to build this $10 up into a $2k balance whilst at the same time moving up in stakes. I have decided to move up each time I have 10 buy-ins for the next level and step back down upon losing 5 buy-ins at that level. I would have preferred to be bankrolled to 20 buy-ins but given the number of hands I expect to play it would take too much time to move up. I would expect to have to yo-yo between the levels and plug leaks in my game before giving the next level a shot. It is also unlikely I will continue with the challenge solely at Laddies. Once I am up to $250 I amy move over to Party as there are more games on offer. I'll datamine a few nights first to see what the quality of play is like. I estimate that it will take approx 50,000 hands to get to the $2k figure (assuming BB/100 of 10, 7 & 5 for $0.1/$0.2, $0.2/$0.4 and $0.5/$1 respectively). Therefore by the end of the year I hope to be sitting down at 4 $1/$2 tables with $200 at each in front of me. I’ll need to put in 5,000 hands per month to have any chance of achieving this. At 200 hands/hour 4 tabling about 25 hours/month. 4. NLHE SNG’s – Turn $0 into $1,000 Pokerroom is a site I haven’t used for a while but having built up a few player points there when I was bonus whoring I had enough ‘player points’ to get a free buy-in to 3 $10+$1 SNGs. Obviously a good prompt for another challenge to see what I can turn this free money into and as I have managed to build this up to $102 already through play in December (38 SNGs for a 20% ROI) I am going to see where I can get to in 2007. The first problem is I only have 9 buy-ins so this could all be over in a couple of nights anyway as I will always 4 table. I think that I need to continue 4 tabling as I move up the levels so that my true hourly rate is comparable. No point having a 10% ROI 1 tabling 50's if I can make a 20% ROI 4-tabling 10s. I am also concerned that there may not be enough volume of tournies going on at the higher buy-ins at Pokerroom so again I may move the bankroll over to Party. I am going to step up once I have 20 buy-ins for the next level and step back down again after losing 10 buy-ins. I certainly don’t think this is good bankroll management and I could easily go busto before I step up to the $20s. Based on my estimates for ROI at $10s, $20s & 30s (25%, 17.5%, 12.5%) I reckon it is going to take about 600 SNG’s to get to the $50s (assuming I never have to step down). Intention here is to go for 100 SNGs/month and see where that gets me. 25 Sets of 4 is going to take about 25 hours play a month. 5. Entry into major buy-in live poker tournament (and participate) Ok, so I kind of achieved this in 2006 but never managed to play becuase my beautiful baby daughter, Maggie, decided to come along. This is a nice to have rather than a must. It's unlikley that I will actively pursue this and it is more likely to come along through winning an Inside Edge or Poker Player tourny again. Tempted to go for the WSOP $1,500 NLHE this summer but it would mean using a week of holiday away from the family and I am not sure I want to do that yet. 6. Make $6,000 from the above – poker alone I'm really not arsed about the money this year but I can't have a goals post without putting some monetary measure on it. This could come from one good cash on an MTT or from a consistent monthly return. I think I am unlikely to hit this target unless I get a good 'cash' in an MTT. The poker alone comment relates to the fact that a lot of my profits over the past couple of years have come from bonuses and sports and casino whoring. The $6k target is from the poker play alone.
Anyone else set goals for 2007? Hopefully not too many going for BPP or I will definitely have no chance? FBF
  14. Re: Project WSOP 2007 - Friday 22nd December 20:20 GMT I'll be having at go at this tonight but as I only tend to play freezeouts I'd appreciate any guidance on the 'best' way to play a rebuy. I presume there is little chance of taking this down if you restrict yourself to only 1 buy-in? Add-ons must almost be obligatory if available? FBF
