  1. Re: ** Poker Tuesday 4th November 2008 ** Bah, 59th. Was going well until I bluffed with T6s on an xA22 board, figuring Gremlin would read me as having x2 and fold Big Slick. The muppet called, I hate playing these guys who don't know how to put their opponent on a hand! :rollin Have just seen he won a bounty - well done mate!

  2. Re: ** Poker Tuesday 4th November 2008 ** Please note - am drunk and somewhat annoyed with the world generally, am likely to be hyper-LAG for the 5 minutes or so I last in the Hendon game. If J4o knocks a fellow PL'er out, please accept my sincere apologies in advance.

  3. Re: Coolers - lets discuss strategy

Then the last one I played poker...DOH!!!...damn it...and thought the big stack was absolutely bullying when he wasn't!...and that after giving Jaded stick for playing poker in these games!:$
When have I played poker in ANY game?! :rollin
  4. Tying in somewhat to the discussion in the main cooler thread over JJ, what to do with a big pair in this situation? It's early on, and I haven't played anything yet. 5. Re: Cooler - AA 2 hands in a row. AJ - Can't find the flaming hand history... 99% sure I was UTG. I shoved. Woodie - My view here is no doubt coloured by the result (sorry GaF?!) the reason I'm wondering whether I should've folded is that I think there's a reasonable chance if I'd not played anything one of the others would've crashed out while I was waiting. Should I be avoiding confrontations with bigger stacks here?

  8. Re: Cooler - AA 2 hands in a row. I actually shoved again (obviously!) and got called by KTs, who hit his straight. Glad there's support for playing it the way I did... but did I need to get involved? Would feel weird folding AA pre-flop, but with 3 guys on a fair few less chips than me, should I just be sitting out here?

  9. Re: Coolers - lets discuss strategy

That's certainly not a terrible way to play them' date=' as you're only investing 50 chips unless you hit a jack. But on the other hand, you probably won't hit a jack on the flop, it's quite likely you'll face a preflop raise (though, having said that, when I've experimented with limping pocket aces from early position, I usually seem to attract a string of overlimpers and have to fold on a threatening flop :$), and your implied odds are worse than in "proper poker", as you're less likely to get paid off if you do hit a jack.[/quote'] It obviously depends on the entry fee and the table make-up, but when playing the $5's on Stars, you rarely see too many pre-flop raises when someone's limped in. (Or I do, at least). I agree you'll obviously rarely hit a jack on the flop, but there's very rarely a need to get involved before the 50/100 level anyway, so losing 50 chips wouldn't particularly bother me.
  10. Re: Coolers - lets discuss strategy

No problem at all, I never doubted it was a bad play.. :ok So, what would you have done with JJ UTG and blinds 25/50? Do you ever do 4x bb raises etc in coolers? I have only shove or fold, no in-between.
Limp. If it gets raised, ditch them. If there's no jack on the flop, ditch them. If you hit a set, start playing poker.
  11. I've folded the previous 5 hands, but shoved on 3 of the 5 before them, each time taking the blinds. Table is reasonably tight, with few shoves being called. Call/raise/fold here? 12. Re: Tonights focus game - 2xKey Hands Why the big raise in hand 1 GaF? And after raising that much, you're left with 3910 to call to win a 10,600 pot. IMO you should take that every time with AKo (assuming your opponent isn't a complete rock who only ever plays the top 4 or 5 hands, anyway.)
