There are 2 teams that need morale boosting wins this week.

First up are (the latest Premier League record holders, Crystal Palace). They struggled to beat an Ipswich youth side in the last round, and I am sure that Roy will be making changes here , but you would hope that they can give the home fans something to cheers about. If they don't get a goal soon, then the goal celebration music (Glad All Over) is in danger of become lost under a pile of dust. I won't back them to win, (They are one of my bogey teams) but will probably back them to win the corner count, which they did on Saturday.

Palace should win, need to win &  hopefully we can all recoup our lossses from the weekend

Everton have a must win game against Sunderland, who aren't pulling up tees either in the Championship. They have had a tough start, and it will depend on the team selection, but surely they can get a win, in the cup, to lift the mood of the fans?

On a Brighter note! (See what I did there?) The Albion are back at Dean Court on Tuesday. Our second string struggled to beat Barnet in the last round, but 2 new signings will be making their debuts and keen to impress. The most notable of who is Izquerdo, who is our record £16million signing. He has the nickname "The Greyhound" due to his speed.  I think that they will be keen to go back and get a positive result, after perhaps being a tad unlucky on Friday.

    Your thoughts please,

I am just off to give @Mindfulness some banter in the "New Managers" thread...

Ezequiel Schelotto is the Greyhound a full back not Izquierdo our record signing.

  2. Re: Championship > October 6 Derby DNB Even Money Skybet I'm the first to back my side Brighton but for this trip to Pride Park I believe will be a struggle. The last two home games have produced 1 point out of a possible 6 losing to B'ham 0-1 and drawing with Ipswich 1-1 after a late equaliser. In that 180 mins of home football we failed to produce very little and look very light up front with the absence of Craig Mackail-Smith. He is again missing tom with a hamstring injury and the only positive is that Bruno is fit for selection again who has probably been our best player along with CMS at right back. He gives us alot of options going forward but with the likley hood of Dobbie playing loan striker I can't see us scoring. Although this season I believe we will fair better away this season as home sides with force forward allowing the Albion to play there free flowing football which we have come acustomed to seeing under Poyet. At home this year if we fall behind we will struggle as teams will put 10 men behind the ball. Tom with confidence taking a bit of a dip I fancy Derby to win outright but will tip up the DNB based on my above comments that I believe Brighton will play better away but the missing CMS is a big factor and Crofts also still on the sidelines.

  4. Re: Championship > September 22-24 For me Brighton look good value at 7/4 and I cant see them going off at that price come the weekend. Winning there last 4 games, at home to Barnsley 5-1 & Sheff Wed 3-0 and away wins at both Burnley 3-1 and last night at Watford 1-0. Gus this season has alot more options and in my opinion the best two full backs in the league and a solid looking midfield and a big change in form and confidence of Craig Mackail-Smith with 6 goals in the last four games. Millwall on the other hand have lost 4 of their opening 6 games scoring 8 and conceding the most in the Championship of 13 goals. Brighton have goals in them and cannot see them not scoring on Sat. Like I said 7/4 in my opinion is good value and I will be taking that price.

  5. Re: England/Scotland > Midweek L1 & All Cups - Jan 17/18 ull strength? What's this then? Craig Mackail-Smith starts for Brighton after he suffered a nasty eye injury against Bristol City on Saturday. Will Hoskins, has a knee problem and misses out. Teenage forward Jake Forster-Caskey, who scored Albion's goal in the 1-1 draw with the Dragons last Saturday, also misses out with a dead leg. Ryan Harley was ruled out against City through illness, fellow wingers Kazenga LuaLua and Craig Noone and full-backs Marcos Painter and Mauricio Taricco are all out, while Gordon Greer is banned Or they are not important players.... __________________ Fair commnet but Hoskins is playing! CMS only has a black eye which wont effect his fitness. It is the first time this season we have seen CMS Hoskins and Buckley all start together since we signed them pre season for over 5 million. Ryan Harley is not a first team starter now and if you ask most Albion supporters Painter is no better than Vincelot. Taricco although still quality very rarely lasts 90mins anyhow and Grant Hall has had a couple of outstanding displays of late and is highly rated by Poyet. As for Lua Lua and noone. Only one of those would have been starting with Buckley back to full fitness on the wing. All in all a very strong side but who knows in the fa cup. I base my comments on seeing all home games this season and a number of away games. Appreciate Greer is missing but Dunk is back from a 2 game suspension.

  6. Re: England/Scotland > Midweek L1 & All Cups - Jan 17/18 Brighton playing full strength side only change from Sat's 2-0 win against Bristol City is Hall for El Abd who is more than capable. The extra 24hrs delay in kick off has allowed Hoskins and CMS to recover and they flew up yesterday. Very strong side and should be too much for Wrexham. The pitch however could be a leveller but all Albion supporters would expect a win with that line up. I was tempted in the 4/1 on minus 1 on the Albion but will stay with just the outright of 7/5 which is available pretty much everywhere. 7/5 great value against non league even taking Wrexhams form into account

  7. Re: Speedway 2008 I like the 8/11 on off from skybet for Richardson to score over 7.5 - bet365 have hime at evens to score over 8. Just think that Lee has started off well this year, is sounding very positive in his interviews and has ridden for Peterborough before. I think this meeting will be very tight and for Eastbourne to get close they need Harris to ride well

  8. Re: Speedway 2008

    Eastbourne are a good team but there are question marks over Gustaffson' date=' Brundle + Woodward.[/quote'] Eastbourne win tonight at last years chaCOVENTRY: 43 1. Rory Schlien: 1*. 0. 2. 1* 2. Oliver Allen: 2. 3. 3. 0 3. Chris Harris: 2. 2. 1*. 3. 3 4. Billy Janniro: 1*. 1*. 2. 0 5. Simon Stead: 3. 1. 1. 2. 2* 6. Andreas Messing: 1*. 0. 0 7. Stanislaw Burza: 2. 1. 0. 1. 2 EASTBOURNE: 47 1. Scott Nicholls: 3. 3. 3. 3. f 2. Lewis Bridger: 0. 0. 1*. 2* 3. Lee Richardson: 0. 3. 3. 2. 1 4. Cameron Woodward: 3. 2*. 1. 3 5. Edward Kennett: 2. 2. 3. 0 6. Simon Gustafsson: 3. 1*. 2. fx. 1 7. James Brundle: 0. 0. 0. I agree that Brundle will struggle but hey he should pick up a couple of points in home meetings. Woodward and Gustafsson certainly dont look as though they will struggle. That price I posted before will be halved in the morning if not by more.
  9. Re: Speedway 2008 I think 9/4 is way to skinny with a long season ahead and it has not helped that Adam Skornici broke his wrist last night and is out for 6 weeks. Poole will find it difficult over the coming months as Skornici was scoring well above his average and will be a big loss. The problem they have now is only Zabik and the reserves can take his rides, so if your going to back Poole I can only see this price drifting over the next 6 weeks, then get on them as I'm sure they will make the play offs. My tip would be Eastbourne at 7/1 as I think they are value with a strong top two in Nicholls and Richardson and with the likes of Kennet backing them up, I can only see Woodwood and Bridger improving there averages. At 7/1 I think that is a good price and I'm sure they can make the play offs. I've had my fingers burnt too often in betting on the Elite League winners as its very easy for teams to suffer big injuries. Anyway good luck :ok

  10. Re: Speedway World Cup Final - tonight Totall agree Andy, I took the Danes before heat 2 after the aussies had qualified and took 15/8 thinking it was great value. I think it could go either way, all will depend on Niels kristian Iverson and Travis Mcgowen, thats where I think the difference will be in winning it. I do think the Aussies have the slight edge but no way should be best price 4/6

  11. I do believe the bookies have gifted us on this one. 1st event in poland involves Poland, Australia, GB , Finland. Basically it should be a 2 horse race between Poland and Australia. Only 3 firms offering odds at mo, sky, lads, hills, Lads are offering 8/5 on Poland winning event 1, with Australia favs at 8/15 Hills are going 1/2 Poland 6/4 Australia. With both firms GB are 6/1 and Finland are 50/1 Skybet are going evens the pair I'm on big:ok

  12. Re: Speedway GP Denmark My bets are done all ew :- Bjarne Pederson 33/1 betfred 1/4 1,2,3 (below is from his personal website, made the sem's last time out and is his home nation) Bjarne Pedersen in great shape before Parken It’s going to be hard for Bjarne to be pessimistic before Saturday’s Speedway Grand Prix in Parken. Monday evening he won six out of six heats in the best British league as Poole won a great victory 66-24 against Arena Essex. It wasn’t the 18 quite easily gained points which pleased the Danish speedway-rider the most. - Actually there was only competition from Michael Max tonight. The best thing was that we finally got the clutches working. The problems have meant that I have been unsteady during the starts. My sponsor Sea View Coaches has helped me getting some new parts for the clutch, and these parts made a great difference, says Bjarne Pedersen. The 18 points have of course given med some more confidence before this year’s biggest Danish speedway event. - Right now I feel in great shape, and it has never been better this season. This is of course great right before Parken but I also know that there won’t be any chance to relax. Antonio Lindback 66/1 Hills 1/4 1,2,3 An erractic rider but is either in the mix or 0 points, based on the fact he came third last year at this track which shows he obviously likes it and is riding well at the moment, a specualtive ew punt on this one. Leigh Adam's 14/1 1/4 1,2,,3 No indeph analysis on this one, have been backing him from the start and last time out was very unlucky with the track proving the better of him when looked certain to qualify for the semi's. On his day Adam's will beat anyone and I'm just hoping he can get things going early in Denmark. Good luck if having a punt this Sat:ok

  13. I know it's early, but this Sat, it's the Dannish GP, anyone with any thoughts. I have a cluster of riders i will be looking into which include, B Pedersen (must make a final soon) 28's Lindback(massive odds and made the final last year, just a small bet) 66's Hampel (claims to have his engines just perfect now and showed at Cardiff last time out) 28's Adams (will defo make a final, but when, Cradiff was alot better and was robbed by the track) 14's Anderson (the form rider and alot to prove, his home nation and just waiting to stick two fingers up at the selectors for being left out of the grand prix's, but best price 10's maybe a bit short for me. All the above is pure value, I just hope the likes of Crump/Hancock/ and Nicky P have bad nights!!:ok

  14. Well this Sat is the Speedway GP at Cardiff and the odds are out, now I'm going with value on this one! My bets are as follows. Leigh Adams, best price 14/1 Lads 1/4 1,2,3 Adams has not quite kicked in this year in the grand prix's but it's only a matter of time until he makes a final. (Mr consistant). Also the tighter track will suit him. Andreas Jonnson 50/1 Lads 1/4 1,2,3 he had a much better grand prix last time out after appearsing to fully recover from a foot op. Taken from the Grand prix site, ignore the price as it refers to main sponsors skybet "Andreas Jonsson could be a good outsider at 33/1 as the Swede has won more races than anyone else at the Millennium Stadium" Bjarne Pederson 28/1 1/4 1,:ok2,3, Skybet. Pederson's league form has been consistant and normally makes at least 2 finals a season and he made the fnal last year so obviuosly likes the track. He lies down the pecking order last year but this is where he turned his season around last year so fingers crossed he does it again. These are my bets, but could not take my eyes off the 6/1 they are offering on Tony here as last years final was a classic won by Tony. Very tempted but have left it so far. Crump rightly goes in as favourite after not making the semi's last year but at 6/4 best price I wont be touching it. Good luck everyone:ok
