  1. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 Quickly, because the match is starting Andrea Petkovic to beat Maria Sharapova 4/5 betfred I've lost a lot of value I think but a winning bet is a winning bet and I can't see Sharapova beating Petkovic. The Russian looked tired against Dulgheru and was lucky to beat her, with her two sets coming through tie-breaks. Sharapova is on her way back to the top but she makes too many errors (double faults particularly) and I think she'll get punished today

  2. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4

Ferrer (-2.5 games) @1.85 betfair Think the 2.5 game line is far too low here. Ferrer's the better player and has been improving as he goes along in Miami. I'm not sure if he'll be able to do it in straight sets but I think he can definitely get more breaks than Fish, who must be knackered after 2 tough afternoon games.
Loss. Ferrer didn't show up. That's 0/2 for me today :sad

Radwanska to beat Zvonareva @2.34 betfair Not too much to add to the above post on this match. Radwanska has been playing very well here and the slower courts really help her game. She looks fitter and better mentally than she used to. Zvonareva has been poor here and has had to grind out wins. I think she was lucky that Bartoli ran out of steam in the last round and although Radwanska isn't someone that can always be relied upon to hold a lead, I think she could today. 4.0 isn't bad for a straight sets win but I've already taken the straight win and not sure I want to double bet on any WTA match ever.
Loss. Radwanska seized up and couldn't force anything from Zvonareva. 5 winners all game isn't good enough and the fact that she doesn't have a shot or play that can get her out of a tough spot is a huge problem. Zvonareva took 5/7 break points, which is crazy bad from Radwanska.

Mayer's serve looks good but I feel that he might be about to come unstuck. If he holds here I'm switching my bet onto Berdych
Won it in the tie break :clap Top players playing badly against worse players playing well can find a way, that's what makes people like Youzhny and Baghdatis so disappointing.
  7. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4

I layed Berdych when he was broken at the start of the second set' date=' at odds of 1.34, do we think he'll come back and take the 3rd or is Mayer going to pull it off? Odds are around 1.7 on the Czech now.[/quote'] Mayer's serve looks good but I feel that he might be about to come unstuck. If he holds here I'm switching my bet onto Berdych
  8. Re: EURO 2012 Qualifiers - Tuesday 29 March

The one bet that jumps out to me at the moment is Belgium -1.75 @1.88 with betfair. I rate this young Belgian team very highly and believe that they are improving with each game they play. They beat Austria 2-0 away from home on Friday and I'd expect them to follow that up with a comfortable home win against Azerbaijan. I can't see anything less than a two goal win and I'm happy to take a half win if that happens. I think it'll be 3 or 4 though.
Final score 4-1. I was surprised that Azerbaijan scored but in the end Belgium had too much for them. Minimized my bets and maximized my stakes for these fixtures, so very pleased that this one went in. Well done to all those who followed - you all seemed to get a better price than me! ;)

  10. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4

Vera Zvonareva -2.5 AH vs Marion Bartoli. 1.85 @ Nordicbet (6/10) We've been talking about Bartoli getting tired and that being the main reason for her going at some stage of this tournament. Makarova could do nothing about her, Zvonareva will be, I guess. She has beaten Bartoli 8 times out of 10 and has got all the tools that are needed to get rid of Marion. The main thing here is that Zvonareva can live with Bartoli on the baseline ball bashing and will also go for cross court shots. Bartoli most of the time struggles on covering cross court shots and I fully expect Vera to win this one and also take this handicap which is not that big.
I followed on this and thought it was dead and buried. Unbelievable comeback from Zvonareva - about time I got one that went my way in Miami :cow
  11. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 One for me so far: Youzhny v Rochus under 20.5 games @2.06 betfair - 10pts Rochus has played a huge amount of tennis recently and looked dead on his feet against Baghdatis, with the Cypriot simply refusing to win the game with an horrendous 61 unforced errors. Youzhny's movement is so much better than Baghdatis' and he is far more consistent. I think the courts here are very nice for him as they are nice and slow with a lot of bounce. He destroyed Lu 6-1, 6-0 in his first match here and while it might not be as conclusive today, I think he should at least be able to go 6-4, 6-4. Odds on unders are also far better than straight sets and handicaps, so I'm willing to play them.

  12. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 David Ferrer to win 2-0 @1.77 betfair - 7/10 WIN Viktor Troicki to beat Sam Querrey @1.8 betfair - 5/10 WIN Radwanska to beat Kirilenko 2-0 @1.85 Betfair - 5/10 WIN Michael Llodra (-2.5 games) @2.14 Betfair LOSS Not sure about my day. Can't work out whether to be annoyed with myself for the last minute adding of Llodra or to be annoyed at him for such a bad game when serving for the match! Pleased with making the right calls on Troicki and Radwanska. Far too often I'd have taken handicaps/unders on those games and been stung. Congratulations to Atko - 2 brave picks that worked out very well (although Ferrer tried his best to lose the handicap!)

  13. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4

Have decided to take the plunge on Llodra: Michael Llodra (-2.5 games) @2.14 betfair A lot of people give Llodra a hard time but I think he's actually a decent tennis player. He rarely troubles the big boys but he can more than hold his own against those around him. Since the AO he's lost to Raonic, Tsonga, Soderling, Djokovic and Troicki. He would only really have been expected to beat Raonic and even then, the Canadian has beaten a lot of good players this year. Granollers is ranked 55th and as a rule pretty much loses to everyone that is ranked above him. He produced a big win over Wawrinka in the last round but I'm not reading too much into that, I'd actually have been more impressed if he'd won without bagelling the Swiss in the first as that to me shows it was Wawrinka that lost, rather than Granollers winning. On these courts I fancy Llodra to take this and odds against for such a small handicap is good.
Glad he got beat at the end. Embarrassing game when serving for the match. Wasn't even serve and volley was just serve and charge at the net like a hyperactive kid chasing an ice cream van. Some very, very poor/odd tennis being played at crucial moments in this tournament.

  15. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 One more for now Radwanska to beat Kirilenko 2-0 @1.85 betfair - 5/10 Kirilenko has been playing badly for a while now and as Psycho said, she struggled to get past Mirza in the last round. She was bagelled by Radwanska in the opening set at IW last week before the Pole lost concentration. Don't expect that to happen today, particularly as she is looking fitter every time she comes on court. Similar to my Ferrer bet, I prefer to take the straight sets win than the handicap or unders, at similar prices. Fancy Llodra to beat Granollers and the overs in JMDP v Soderling but will think about them some more.

  16. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 David Ferrer to win 2-0 @1.77 betfair - 7/10 Enough has been said about Ferrer's chances against Devvarman but I just can't take the -4.5 line. Instead I'm taking Ferrer to win in straight sets as I feel it offers the best value. Hopefully he takes it 6-1, 6-2 and then everyone wins! Viktor Troicki to beat Sam Querrey @1.8 betfair - 5/10 Troicki is playing well at the moment, hitting the ball cleanly and coming through well against weaker opponents. Querrey on the other hand has been pretty bad for quite a while. He brushed past Kukushkin but even that wasn't as easy as the scoreline suggested and wins over Verdasco and Tipsarevic in IW aren't enough to make me think he's turned a corner. As has been said, Troicki will prefer the courts and I think he can upset the home crowd.

  17. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4

Baghdatis had 61 unforced errors :puke
Yip, and that was my problem. If he was injured, like Roddick, then fair enough but that's atrocious. Rochus was dead on his feet after the first set and would have lost to challenger players. Don't know what Baghdatis was playing at but it was bizarre to watch.....
  18. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4

Yeah' date=' I took him at the start of the 2nd set. Was counting my cash but he's fallen apart. Mentalist. :puke[/quote'] Absolutely pathetic display. If I ever see Baghdatis in person, I'll punch him. That was the least professional display of tennis I've ever seen from a player who is supposedly one of the top 25 in the world. :@ Youzhny will have the easiest match of his life in the next round.
  19. Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4

Baghdatis is a joke. Should consider retiring from professional tennis or at least take a break. If you don't want to play why bother showing up. Of course' date=' there's huge prize money...[/quote'] Yeah, I took him at the start of the 2nd set. Was counting my cash but he's fallen apart. Mentalist. :puke
