  1. Re: Quick System finnaz - my staking plan is loosely based upon "The Retirement Staking Plan" of which there are a number of variations if you Google it. I have added some of my own "rules" to suit my wallet and stress levels. Essentially it's about staking to retrieve losses and be aware, many sensible and experienced backers regard this either as too fraught with danger or akin to betting suicide. As you say you are new to all this, I'd recommend keeping it simple - level stakes and keep a record of all your bets.

  2. Re: Quick System I've been a "Quick Follower" from the 2005 Flat season. I don't have a full record of all Ralphie's selections, as I don't back odds-on and in the early years didn't bet on Irish racing ( I do now ). My longest losing run was 16 in the NH 2008/9 season. Incidentally my longest winning runs are 6 and twice 5. However these are extremes and thus the pattern of results is usually in between. I've never regarded "Quick" as something to dip in and out of, it has to be regarded as a long term strategy with good seasons and poor ones. I use my own staking plan and to date I'm 1650 points ahead ( £16500 to a £10 stake if you prefer it that way ) with a 32% strike rate. So Ralphie can always tap me up for a few quid if he needs it ! I hope this helps.

  3. Re: Quick System 1878, I've followed Ralphie on this thread since the NH season of 2004/5. My longest losing run was in 2008 of 10, followed by a winner at 5/1. Having said that, I sometimes miss out on a runner; I don't back odds on and there was a time when I didn't back at Irish meetings ( I do now). So my losing run experience is not completely "pure", but it gives you a feel for it if you are thinking about doubling up after a loser .:lol

  4. Re: Quick System I've picked this up late, but I am in agreement with you Ralphie. Catering for the occasional one off isn't worth it. I'm quite relaxed about you showing Forecast SP's or not. The FSP is perhaps more important to you when flagging up whether a selection is EW or not, but to we Quick System followers, that apart, knowing FSP's doesn't matter.

  5. Re: Quick System Nice couple of winners, Ralphie. Thanks. I glanced at my records today and with some surprise realised I've been following this thread since the 2004/5 NH season. I sometimes miss a selection, I don't back odds on and I have my own simplified version of "The Retirement Staking Plan". Anyway despite many ups and downs, I've only had one losing season and my bank is now + 1611 points to the good. I've always said that this system is for the long haul, rather than short-term profits and I have no anxiety with any long losing runs. The main point is not so much the profit gained, but you have contributed to my overall enjoyment of my pastime. Thanks once again.

  6. Re: Quick System JS1981 The thing about Ralphie's system is that you have to be in it for the long haul. It's not a get rich quick thing. I've followed Ralphie's tips since 2004, starting with a bank of 1000points, making 372 bets and at the moment it's at 2014. I've always used a retrieval staking plan with a cap of a max stake 50 points. The highest bank level has been 2363 and the lowest point was 973. I've been lucky right from the start and I haven't backed everything. I find it difficult to be excited about Irish races; I don't back odds on; some days I can't get on my computer. Ralphie's thread has given me a lot of enjoyment and an understanding of how horses can peak. He is a really nice, genuine guy and deserves an award for helping us day in and day out for such a long time.

  7. Re: Quick System Ralphie, When you provide the winners, you justifiably get some messages of thanks. I just thought this morning, how I don't always appreciate the fact that when I look for your Quck System selections for the day, your message is always there. It's something I tend to accept, after all this time. So........ Can I commend and thank you for being so reliable. Irrespective of results, being downhearted about Man U's poor form, taking the dogs for a walk, etc etc your messages are always there. You are a good example to all who endeavour to start a thread. All the Best

  8. Re: Quick System Although there has been a dip in winners/profit so far this NH season, Ralphie, it's a bit early for despondency. Your system has worked over a long period and from my experience of it, the NH period is never quite as successful as the Flat. Apart from issues about the ratio of winners, I believe a big point is that NH prices are much skinnier generally about horses with form, than those on the Flat. I think this is because a lot of NH races only have a limited number of runners with real form and the bookies squeeze their prices, which affects our runners. On the Flat there is a better odds opportunity because the form is there for several runners, possibly because Flat horses run a little more often in the season. With your system I tend not to back odds on and I have a staking plan. My results this season are 25% winners and a break even £. I'll be happy with this at the end of March ( although I'd like a profit ) and I can then dream of those heady days to come of 60% winners:hope.
