  1. Re: Lars; Bets from May 09

Oh dear, I can here the BH haters already! (good job i have a thick skin!) Lars, I have to say it coz others wont, you cant put bets up after they have ran and won mate, its the worst crime on a racing forum. You just wont get any respect. Try to put your tips up in advance in the future and the just to show i'm not all bad, good luck with it, we all started somewhere!
Yeah I know mate, hence the apology in the original post. That's why I didn't really make a big thing of it, as in putting it in Size 20 and going "WOOOOOO" etc. I was fully aware that someone would say something, of course they would. New poster comes along, people are always going to be suspicious if they post winners afterwards. 99% of the time they'll hopefully be posted up beforehand :ok
  2. Re: 3 day Dante Meeting at York Just a quick note, living in York, I definitely recommend The Cross Keys on Tadcaster Road, every time I've been there the food has been good, and the price isn't too bad either. To my knowledge there isn't a better pub in that area. Tesco car-park will also be packed. 1) Because of College Students. I know plenty who have been ticketed there, one today in fact. 2) They're a bit more streetwise now So avoid it if possible, you might get away with parking in the Park and Ride (near, but away from Tesco itself), although it could well be full by 12. You're less likely to be clamped though if you park there. Enjoy the racing!

  3. Re: Beverley 12/5/09 Had a quick look at the card, and I'm deciding to focus on the last race for the time being (The 17:00) I think top weight Rossini's Dancer may struggle tomorrow. It seemingly favours soft ground, as shown by all it's career wins being on the A/W, soft or good to soft ground. Came 4th LTO which may be a worry. But, this is it's preferred distance so it will always be a threat. Ace of Spies which is also in the race, finished 2nd, but is unproven from this sort of distance. Has been consistent but will pass over it for the time being. After looking through, I've decided on two EW opportunities. First is Thompsons Walls. Had the same distance and course run only a month or so ago, just at a grade better than this and finished 11th. However, looking at that race, it looked quite quick and everyone with a better ride, who knows. I feel that with a drop in Grade, it can be in with a shout. First ride with the Nicholls yard which is always a promising statistic. LTO raced over a shorter distance and looked fairly promising. I feel it's a possible EW shot. The other is Umverti. I always view the Bycroft horses with interest, it being a fairly local yard to myself and knowing a couple of people involved and I feel it has a good chance tomorrow. Raced along and stayed on the pace LTO over a furlong or two further and I feel a drop in trip could suit it. Norton aboard it is also a good sign, I believe at times he can be a very very useful jockey and can often lead outsiders to a place or better. I'm expecting the odds to be fairly long on this one so here's hoping. I expect Umverti - 0.25pt EW Thompsons Walls - 0.25ptEW IF the ground softens, I'll be probably putting 1pt Win on Rossini's Dancer, that seems unlikely however.

  4. Due to my most dreadful of starts in the BBOD, I've decided to try to keep a thread of my bets, to show to myself what I'm doing wrong/right, and to see if this racing hobby is losing me money or otherwise. Monday 11th May 19:20- Windsor - Nom Dom - 4pts Win - WON at 3/1 20:00- Towcester - Fourpointone (BBOD) 1pt win - Ended up 13/1 20:20- Windsor - Wunder Strike - 1pt Win. - 9/2 Staked 6pts Returned 16pts P/L +10 Yield +166% Strike rate 33% (1/3) Today was a good day, a large bet placed on Nom Dom due to it's low mark and potential that I saw. Surprised it won by such a margin. Fourpointone was always a bit of a punt, looked good for a while but I could see it's head bobbing a bit too much about 2/3 into the race and it was slightly struggling to clear some of the fences. Wunder Strike never got into the race really. Think it'll be the end to it's good run of form, unfortunately. Apologies to posting this afterwards, sometimes it's hard to get on due to college commitments. Am unsure with the flat , as it's my first proper season betting as I turned 18 before Christmas. Prefer the jumps myself and had a few big priced winners (Punjabi, Kayf Aramis). So unsure what to look for in the flat. Hope this will be an interesting insight into the results of a virtual newbie in racing terms. Wish me luck!

  5. Re: Best Bet Of The Day 'monday' 11*05*09 Welcome aboard South_Eastern_Ram Towcester - 20:00 I'm going for Fourpointone in this 3m110y hurdle. Has been very consistent, in it's last 5 races has placed 3 times and won LTO. That was over 3f further at a grade 5 standard but it has raced at this standard (Grade 4) before and done well at this distance. With T.Scudamore aboard, and only gaining a couple of lbs on it's last run, I feel it's got a great chance. 1pt win

  6. Re: Best Bet Of The Day Sun 10/05/2009 I've almost given up with this BBOD lark! So I'm going with a real outsider today. Looking at the form, and the sort of trend that sometimes, a horse which is decent on the flat can make a good hurdler. I've gone for 14:00 Uttoxer - Dream in Blue - EW Has been in the top 3 in all it's 3 previous flat, all-weather races at Grade 5, so find it slightly strange that it's been now changed to hurdles. Strange in fact that it's caught my eye. New trainer who hasn't been in the greatest of form but they must see some ability away from the flat. The price I got was around 26/1 so it was worth the risk. Perhaps one to look out for in the future if it gets round well today. 0.5pt EW

  7. Re: Best bet of the day 8th May 19:35 - Aintree - Coach Lane - EW Trained by V.Williams and with Coleman, this pairing have been fairly reliable of late. This horse has not won for a year or so, but it was over this distance and grade. Recently has been a consistent placer and I feel it will be up in the top 2 or 3 again today. Only worry is that sometimes it's jumping is not as good as it should be. 0.5pt EW

  8. Re: Best bet of the day 7th May 19:15 Wincanton - Bingo Des Mottes - EW Yet to win, but ran a good race at this same course last month, and seems to be improving. Is bottom of the weights for today's race. With a jockey whose recent placing form seems to be quite good, I feel it has a shot of a being there or thereabouts via the end, especially with many of it's rivals being a few pounds heavier. 0.5pt EW

  9. Re: Best Bet Of The Day (tues 5th May) 16:50 Fakenham - Briery Star Forever improving horse that has been consistently "up there" in recent races. Seems to be able to handle this distance even though it's last run was at 2m110y. Fairly low in the weights in this race, and think it has a real chance of finally getting it nose in front for the first time. 1pt WIN.

  10. Re: Best bet of the day - Sunday 3/5/09 4:10 - Hamilton - Elite Land With Terry Eaves on board, I feel this horse has a substantial chance of success. It's recent form has been quite patchy to say the least. However, the competition within the race should be beatable for a Horse like Elite Land. Looked at this horse a fair few times, and think it'll be it's time to get it's nose in front. 1pt Win.

  11. Re: Best Bet Of The Day - Sat 2/5/09 My first post on this forum, good day to you all. 17:00 Uttoxeter - Katapult - Each Way Won at this grade and distance in January and followed that up with a solid third place. Went to Aintree where it struggled, but that was a top quality race. With the quite able PJ Brennan on board, I feel the odds given are an absolute steal, and is good Each Way Value 1pt EW
