  1. Re: Finland 20th July Agree with the choice here, TamU are getting players from the injury list back and Jaro goal-keeper Koljander is suspended and will be replaced by an unexperienced questionmark Vitali Teles. There are also other minor or major injuries for Jaro and they will have at least very few 1st players on the bench. Do not agree with the H2H as grounds to a bet in Finland however at all, and the only win mentioned above was this season at Tampere in the opening rounds. Fresh in the memory. TamU odds will probably drop some more.

  2. Re: Finland, 11th-13th of July Agree with the reasoning, but Inter have really found their way of creating goal chances lately and it is only a matter of time when they also find the net. I see Inter as 50 % favourite here, and the easiest way to cover a home team bet is to bet on 0-0. Mariehamn are not that scary in front of goals, and they will take this trip with only Gashi and Ingves as their strike force. And I would not call the bambi-legged Ingves a force. Somehow you succeed in finding the games where i always disagree ;) but that is the beauty of betting.

  3. Re: Finland, Cup, 8-9th of July. TPS - 2.75 @ 2.16 Sbobet tonight. I like Pöxyt as a club, do even have some friends there but not even the terrible weather and the home advantage will help them enough. They are not good enough to be promoted to Kakkonen, their limits have been seen and despite the wonderful 4-0 cup win against Kakkonen side GrIFK there is very little chance to sit out the whole 90 minutes. A shame really. AC Vantaa (10-0-0 in their group) play in the same Kolmonen group, they won Pöxyt away 2-5 and were far more interesting choice in their cup game against JJK, but the value of + 2 has been eaten up already and is not worth a bet anymore at 1.83. Jazz have important absentees, but the level of Kakkonen group C is so much worse than of A & B that they still have a chance against GBK. A possible over though. Haka should walk over Spartak, but I have been blaming Haka the whole season for being lucky and I am not going to change my attitude here. No bet. KooTeePee will not most likely score against Honka, but with a good defense, excellent goal keeper and wet & heavy pitch which destroys Honka´s style of play keeping the ball on the ground discourages me. The line of 1.5 is a clever one. Too clever for me. Last season Honka drew at Kotka 0-0 after a disappointing performance. City Stars are the favourite against PJK but I do not the teams well enough for a bet, and both TamU and Jaro have major absentees, no idea of the line-ups yet but at least TamU bench will be very limited and filled with youngsters from Ilves. The odds on this game have been going up and down. Are there more games? Fortunately no. The weather conditions tonight will be challenging in the whole country.

  4. Re: Finland, Cup, 8-9th of July. My picks so far: HJK - 2.25 @ 1.8 The worst case scenario I can think of here is 0-2 which was what Inter Turku managed at Espoo last year´s cup. That was a disastreous performance and played by their 2nd choice of players. Even if HJK do the same they should score some four goals here against a lot weaker opponent. No home advantage here, and Espoo team is well known to HJK. VPS - 1.75 @ 1.72 Futura defense is one of the worst at their group at Kakkonen, and set pieces, corners, free-kicks will decide this game early on for the visitors. A shame really, I like Futura, a sympathetic small team, and this is also the game I picked for myself to watch.

  5. Re: Finland, Cup, 8-9th of July. No upsets to be expected. All the Veikkausliiga sides have a game ahead this weekend and will rest and rotate players. The relegation-threatened trio JJK, KuPS and RoPS put priority to Veikkausliiga. Traditionally the best bets for games between a lower league club against Veikkausliiga sides have been Both teams to score - No. I am working on with the handicaps and the round. JJK is one of the few I would not pick into any choice of bets. Their bench is not strong, the home team AC Vantaa has chosen to play this game on a reserve pitch which is smaller, in worse condition and there are no proper stands or services for the audience. One excuse for this is that their normal stadium is asking for too much rent.. Under normal circumstances no team from Kolmonen has no chance against Veikkausliiga, and even a club from Kakkonen usually loses 0-2,3,4,5,6. One interesting game is Kokkola old boys against Pallohonka; the average age at Kokkola is over 35 and Pallohonka is under 20... men against boys I would say. Jaro already won at Tampere in the league, and TamU is really struggling to get 11 players on the pitch due to injury crisis. Edit: Jaro also suffering from injuries and are not really worth a bet here. 6. Re: Finland Kakkonen KTP - KäPa 7.7 1730 CET

I guess that match was anything but under 2.5 :( lots of action.
Yep. KäPa scored almost from the kick-off and basically you could wave your under-bets goodbye then. A good example what an early goal can do for a game that should be dull and non-eventful. If I hadnt had my bets I would have enjoyed it a lot more. 0-1 1 min 0-2 25 min missed KäPa penalty at 36 min, then things started turning around... Well, Arto Tolsa Areena at Kotka is always a delightful stadion to visit.
  7. Kakkonen KTP - Käpylän Pallo. Picks: KäPa 0.25 @ 1.88 & under 2.75 @ 2.08 Sbobet. There is so little action tonight that this could become a game of big interest bettingwise, and actually KäPa odds just rose to 1.93. More changes up and down to be expected. First impression is a low-scoring match, as there are no scorers left in the whole City of Kotka since they sold Teemu Pukki to Sevilla FC two seasons ago. After seeing KTP managing to score only twice against Kultsu some weeks ago nothing can force me to support them bettingwise against a much better opponent. KTP has two player on loan (Kurittu & Rautiainen) from Veikkausliiga side MyPa, but they are only 1st & 2nd division quality and should make no big difference. KäPa signed an excellent defender Adel Eid from Atlantis, and he strengthens the side significantly. Distance from Käpylä (Helsinki) to Kotka 135 km & 1.5 hours by bus. No previous matches against one another. 8. Re: Finland, 4th-6th of July I see the odds are about right and have not yet found a bet for this game. Honka is 47-50 % favourite against TPS. Honka play now only their second real home game on their own stadium this season, (a new grass was installed and all the earlier games were played at HJK home stadium) the squad is fully fit and there are some 20 players to choose from, and even though the results show that TPS have managed to get points lately from Honka it is more down to luck than anything else. It has nothing to do with the performances. Last time around the equalizing goal was a reflection of the referee´s big ass in the dying minutes of the game. Honka has found their form, and as the same applies to TPS there is basically not much more than home advantage to separate these two, though Honka was perhaps the biggest candidate for championship before the season. Interesting game to be expected, the general opinion is that there will goals tonight, I am not that sure about that either. Hope it will be entertaining. So you have about 50/50 chance to win, but surely it represents no value. Personally I will look forward to see if there are any late and stupid changes in the odds, otherwise - again for me - a no bet.

  9. Re: Finland, 27-28th of June

    Sport Football (Finland)
    Event TPS Turku-Mypa
    Selection TPS Turku
    Strength 10/10
    Date 27/06/2009
    Bookmaker/Price 10bet @ 1.91 (Back)
Reasoning TPS Turku deal 3rd in Finland' date=' with real chances to catch the first place. Turku won with Rovaniemi 3:2, 4:2 with lahti and 3:0 with kuopio.mypa defeat 2:0 in Kuopio, but lost the parties with VPS Vaasa and jaro, 0:2 and 0:3. mypa deal only 9th place .turku is clear favorite in this match, because is in better form than mypa .
If you really fancy TPS there are odds over 2 available for instance at 188bet and sbobet. Against some of the well-established tipsters I can not see beyond a low-scoring game where also MyPa has a chance. This is a goalless draw to me, or at least strong u 2.5... well the line seems to be 2.25 actually. Whatever MyPa coach has said about creating goal chances there really is no depth and skill in the team to score, but they do defend quite well despite having a goalie who is rather poor than mediocre.
  10. Re: Finland, 27-28th of June

Why are HJK Helsinki playing at a neutral ground?
It is not really neutral, about 20 metres from their usual home ground, which has been under renovation because of the WOMEN EURO 2009 to start in August. There is a new natural grass installed. So, home advantage still, but this game is played on natural grass instead of the usual artificial, and the stadium is also smaller. All of this favours Inter Turku. In the pic olympic stadium, finnair stadium, and pallokenttä 1 & 2. http://www.pjoy.fi/galleria/keskusta/0504243980.htm
  11. Re: Finland, 17th of June. Sounds extremely scary going all - in for a team as crap as VPS. VPS is in my ranking at spot 11 and KuPS is 13th, no big difference there. VPS sacked their manager some 3 rounds ago because of awful results and performances, the results have improved but the player material is still the same. Also the performances are far from being brilliant. However, KuPS made the same decision after last round´s home loss against MyPa, and the new manager is a former NT player and former KuPS manager Esa Pekonen, who already have showed good results with KuPS during his previous post as a manager. Physically KuPS is in ok form and the main problem at the moment is the mental state of mind, which will be where they are concentrating right now. VPS have very little scoring ability, and with a tightened defence, - Mr Pekonen was a NT team defender and is a humble and defence-minded person - betting on VPS is a waste of money in the long run. TP-47 has also sacked their manager duo some time ago and hey, last round they already scored! Nothing really supports the idea of backing them, but this game is a Lapland derby, a big match for both of them and Kemi odds are ridiculous. My picks for today are TamU with some handicap, perhaps -1.25 & Mariehamn IFK dnb against the leaders Haka, who really should not be leading but lie somewhere in the mid-table. Eventually they will drop from the top. Lahti was also good value at least earlier, JJK will still be looking for their first win after tonight´s game. Atlantis is a long story, but to make it short; last week 12 players of Atlantis left the club due to unpaid salaries and the fact that they appointed a Lithuanian manager who brought with him 5 new Lithuanian players. There are 11 lithuanians now in the team and the bookies seem to think this could turn into something interesting. I would not hold my breath waiting for Atlantis to return into bookies list in offer. Atlantis line-up last week; Liudvikas Valius, Dainius Kunevicius, Ernest Simon, Gedas Butrimavicius, Kerry Skepple, Muwahid Sesay, Giedrius Barevicius, Tomas Sirevicius, Anssi Tamminen, William Thompson (61. Shukri Tatli) ja Darius Maciulevicius.

  12. Re: Finland, Weekend, 13-14th of June.

Any advice for the Lahti v Marihamn game guys ?? The home side have decent h2h [ 4-0-0 ] can they make it 5 ?
Yes, they can. Value lies somewhere around 2 for home win though, and the odds have dropped too much under that lately. I am thinking of backing the away team with a handicap. I am quite sure it has been mentioned earlier that h2h-statistics is one of the worst indicators one can think of Finnish Veikkausliiga teams as they tend to change quite a lot. This years MIFK for example has almost nothing to do with the team that played under the same name last season, only 2 players from the starting 11 are the same. Of course the distances are the same, and it is a long way from/to Mariehamn almost to/from everywhere.
  13. Re: Finland, Weekend, 16-18th of may. Good work with TamU. However, the moral is so low and the players look so frustrated and there are problems off the pitch that do seem to have an effect on the pitch as well which makes TamU at the moment a no bet team for me. Or more precisely, TamU - games are no bet. It is still in my ranking at top5 - spot, but I do not want to bang my head into the wall with them until they get some wind beneath their wings. In theory there is a lot of value in TamU now.

  14. Re: Finland, Midweek, 13-14th of may. Hi guys, I have not been here for years but decided to share with you my opinions for tonight´s round here in Finland. I dont want to exhaust you with team news, most teams have still most of their key players available. Odds were taken from Sbobet. Haka - Tamu no bets yet I see TamU as a lot better team than Haka, but the problems outside the pitch may have affected their performances just enough that backing them does not feel too tempting now. HJK - Honka (40-30-30) Honka + 0.5 @ 1.81 This is by far the most interesting match of the round. Two biggest favourites meet and there is no home advantage as Honka is also using Finnair Stadium as their home arena until their own pitch gets renovated by mid-sommer. They key player if this game is HJK midfielder Ville Taulo who comes in for the first time this season to replace injured captain Tuomas Haapala who will be sidelined for some 4-8 weeks. Taulo is actually much better player in the attack, but it is his defensive qualities that raise questions and that will change the balance of HJK midfield. If Honka can challenge him properly the route towards goal, especially from the right flank where Hauhia and Kärkkäinen will struggle, is much more open. I am tempted to try Honka here, and the handicap + 0.50 is worth a bet @ 1.81. Inter - TPS TPS 0.0 @ 2.23 This is a so called derby round and the home advantage is less significant than it would normally be. TPS has showed some signs of recovery lately and they have a lot to revenge from last season´s beatings by Inter. Inter has weakened since last season a lot and is hardly worth being a favourite in this challenging clash. MyPa - Lahti Lahti + 0.50 @ 1.76 MyPa surprised me last time around at home against HJK - I was at the stadium myself, and saw also Honka-MyPa live - but I can hardly imagine the almost retired nightclubber Ady performing superbly another night and controlling the midfield, specially when Lahti has a weapon against him in Vanninen. Without Ady MyPa was very very poor against Honka. And remember, Jari Litmanen is still alive and plays for FC Lahti. JJK - RoPS RoPS + 0.50 @ 1.92 JJK has not yet scored even once and RoPs is a class or two above their hosts. So far RoPS has had 3 penalties this season in the 3 games, and missed all 3 of them! They can create goal chances however and tonight their luck will turn. The odds seem the be drifting at the moment, which is not that unusual in games where RoPS is involved but probably there is nothing dodgy going on this time.
