  1. Re: Preventing tilt: how do you cool down?

For me it's rare to tilt too, though one of my greatest comeback was when I was on tilt (think I won like a dozen all in's) :tongue2 But imagine something unbelievable happens and you can't help it, you're outraged. You're still on several tables, and need to cool down asap. What works for you? Drink whisky? Smoke a joint? Ask your GF/wife to "help" relieve some tension? Play a Shooter in the background and murder some "virtual" people? Go outside for a few sec and kick a tree? Listen to some angry music and sing along? Do some yoga? *I just came up with these ideas, haven't tried all of them :tongue2
:lol I honestly just keep on going. If I was angry and then I did something that meant I missed potentially crucial hands on other tables, now that would tilt me. Cash is different, but I don't play that any more, so someone else can answer what they do when they decide to sit out.
  2. Re: Preventing tilt: how do you cool down? I play 6-8 tables at once, and if I do something stupid I think through what I should have done, if I get a beat I laugh it off, and I moved onto the next hand at the next table. A while ago I heard someone say "Why tilt, when you could just not tilt?" And as ridiculously simple as it sounds, everytime I feel like I might be about to tilt I just think of that phrase. That is not to say I never tilt, but I do it very rarely these days (compared to often before), I also play exclusivley MTTs now so I can't spew off a few cash buy-ins on tilt.

  3. Re: Pokerstars UK Poker Tour

Again i was gonna plan to go to this for the festival too... just looked up hotel prices and it's minimum £100/night :( :eyes
Find a cheap hostel, stay there for £10 a night :ok
  4. Re: Are online poker rooms fair? There have obviously been certain security issues with various online poker sites, and no-one can deny that. But in terms of problems with the RNGF, I don't think anyone could seriously argue that cards are not dealt in a fair and random manner. Any discrepancies would be quickly picked up by all the tracking programmes.

  5. Re: Work out these notes You just need to simplify it a bit, you don't need the exact details of every hand you've played with him, it's not going to help you IMO. Player 1 Defends 3-bets light and capable of 4-bet folding Doesn't value bet thin and can value bet him with marginal strong holdings. Player 2 Most of those notes are worthless, only thing I'm getting is that he's a bit of a nit whose range is gonna be very polarized if he's building a big pot.

  6. Re: 6-max Cash Games

what happened with the HU though was hopeful you'd really make a go at the 250k.
Started badly/lost interest. I think with HU more than any other form of poker, that if you are not in the right frame of mind things are going to go badly wrong. That was the case at the start of that challenge, and I've not really got the interest/motivation to play that right now. From the little 6-max I've played recently, I've found it very interesting, there seem to be more than enough fish around to make it profitable (more than I expected at these stakes), and by starting at meaningful stakes I'm pretty motivated to play a lot right now.
  7. It's time for me to start another (possibly soon to be abandoned) challenge. After some good recent tournament results, my Full Tilt bankroll is hovering just over the $5k mark. As much as I enjoy tournament success, to grind tournament's long term takes ridiculous dedication, and can take over your life a little. Heads-up cash is another option, but I get fed up with getting sat out on after 6 hands just because I'm not a complete fish. Therefore, I'm going back to the 6-max cash games to see if I can make a success out of this. On my previous challenge (which obviously, like all my others, didn't last long) I set a target of hitting a $250k bankroll. That will remain the long-term goal. But, as Nade has done in his fascinating thread, I will be targetting much shorter term goals also. Hopefully this will keep me a lot more focused. Challenge 1 : Play 15,000 hands of $1/$2 NLHE 6-max (4-tabling) by the end of April I'm not going to be setting a profit target, but I will try to remember to update my progress after every 1000 hands, and hopefully I won't be losing money :lol

  8. Re: Railing 3 left, down to 3rd now, lost 2 big all in on the flop coin flips. Top pair v overcards + flush draw lost, and top pair + flush draw lost to overpair.
