  1. Re: 1,000,000 freeroll Entered this for tonights in 9 minutes. Probably a bad time to enter as only the top 10 get qualified where as at 6am you get 30 qualifiers with about the same entrants but im sure i'll get enough points for another entry in the couple of weeks... Sounds like a very generous promotion

  2. Re: Betfair downtime $50,000 added Also out... All In Pre Flop with AK... called by A10 flop comes A 10 X Shame cos I had some really good hands throughout but kept getting stung by the underdog! Good Luck all left in :)

  3. Re: Betfair downtime $50,000 added Was in 20th early on but managed to lose 1800 chips with QQ against AA... flop was 5 3 Q... I went all in... he called... hit an ace on the turn... Now struggling with 670 chips :(

  4. Re: A few questions about poker live... Just thought I would let you all know how it went on Friday. Well, as soon as we got in we realised we might be a little over dressed. Wearing a white shirt, work trousers and polished black loafers I thought I would just blend in but I was suprised to see a bunch of townies all wearing jeans, adidas tracksuit tops etc :lol The tournament started at 8pm and there was 70 people registered (which was the maximum allowed). £10 buy-in and you got 1500 chips. First thing I noticed was that everybody was on first name terms so you already start thinking your an outsider :lol There was also no dealers so we had to have somebody from each table to take charge (is this normal??) luckily, everybody seemed to be very good and there were no arguments. I played like I would play on the internet for the first 25 minutes or so. Pretty tight and not paying to see many flops unless I had a great hand. I was starting to check people out and there was this women next to me who was going all in early on with cards like 9 4 offsuit and just hoping to hit. This is where I started to follow suit a little. When she was going all-in I kept calling when I had hands like K9 etc and knowing most of the time I would be favorite. Unfortunatly, a couple of other people were going for it aswell and I got outdrawn. I knew as soon as I won a big pot that it would set me up for the rest of the tourney and it happened when I picked up 77 and a 7 came on the flop. Four people went all in and I picked up about 6000 chips. I played it tight after this and then in the last hands before the end of the rebuy stage I picked up JJ. Thinking back to advise from the Punters Lounge, I thought this is make or break and went all in for about 4000 chips. Three people called, one had K7 and another had Q9. My jacks held up and I think I took just over 10000 chips in to the "proper tourney". I think this was about average at that stage so I was quite pleased. Meanwhile on the other table I think my brother was about chip leader with 25000 chips or so. About 68 people made it through the the final stages and it was a lot more tighter all around with many people stealing the blinds. I didnt do very much after this in all fairness. My chips were going down very slightly and I only won one hand of any credit. I got 9 7 diamonds on my big blind and there was just me and our tables (very loose) chip leader. Flop came 9x 6d 2d and he raised 1000 for me to re-raise a 1000 which he called. Next card was something like a jack and I re-raised him all in for him to bottle it. That was one of the rare occasions where I bossed a hand. I picked up AA once and with me playing tight all the way through, as soon as I did a little raise, everybody folded and I had to settle for the blinds :lol In the end I was getting short staked and kept going all in, eventually going out with AJ in around 30th position. On the other table my brother went out in 21st after his QQ got caught out by K6. I had to re-buy 4 times so in the end I spent my £50 which I budgeted for and I got 3 and a half hours worth of poker before getting knocked out. Must say I really enjoyed it and it was a much more relaxed atmosphere than I would have expected. I made one or two cock-ups, once where I pushed all my chips on the table but didnt say "all in" and then they started whinging and would only accept the first chips to hit the table as my bet (Grrr!). Gonna start making it a once a month thing and hopefully get a few more people down next time. By the way, I didnt stay till the end because apparently the final tables can go on until 4am so I would have been waiting round about 4 hours. Top ten got paid and the winner received just over £1500.

  5. Re: A few questions about poker live... Well, I am going to the casino tonight and have just rang them to find out what games are to be played. Like you expected Jez, its going to be a £10 multi-table tournament with unlimited re-buys for the first 105 minutes. I just wanted a few more details on this as I have never played re-buys and really dont like the sound of them too much... How much money do you think I will need? I was planning on taking £50 to bet with and then my drinking money on top. Is this enough for a re-buy tourney? I know it depends on how I play but could I find myself being out within minutes and on my way back home or should I be able to get through the re-buy stage if I play cautious. How many chips will I start with, and how many do you generally need to take into the final table once the re-buys have stopped? Is it more fast paced than your usual STT on Paradise Poker for example or will I be alright slow playing as normal. If I lose all my chips, do I have to re-buy in straight away or can I sit out for a while? Thanks in advance.

  6. I know this has come up a lot but wanted a few more details about going to play Poker at the casino. I am planning a trip out with a couple of mates at a Gala casino in Teeside two weeks today for my birthday weekend. I went on the website and got a couple of forms to register with the casino and have sent them off today. Are they really that strict? Or do you generally just get away with turning up? Also, whats the dress code usually? Would I get away with Jeans or would I need a shirt and shoes? What type of games can you play? If it like online where I will be able to choose from unlimited £10/ £20/ £50 No Limit tournaments with 10 entrants or is it mainly re-buys/ pot limit games? I was hoping to take about £50 cash and no bank cards so I dont get carried away. Maybe play a couple of £25 No Limit tournaments. Do I start out with 1000 chips or would it be of a different structure? And finally....... can you drink at the table!! :D Advise Appreciated :)

  7. Re: If you're playing now... All on this thread please. Won a big 35$ pot in that room after you left Staffy. Had pocket Jacks and raised 3$ pre-flop which everyone called. Flop was something like 2 3 6. I raised again for everyone to call. 6 & 4 later came out. Kept raising although I was worried about a 5 or 6 being out there. Went heads up against pocket nines in the end. Happy days.

  8. Re: Poker Tournament ~ *Tonight 8pm* Well it happened with me last night and I got an email (on the thread below) back saying that people remaining in tournaments will get a refund of the buy in plus the winnings shared out between them depending on your position at the time. Fantastic! :x

  9. Re: Getting Disconnected/ AOL!! EMail from Paradise Poker:

03/25@16:36:57 CST This email was computer generated and emailed to *****@aol.com ----------------------------------------------------- Player ID Cownz_DFC had chips at a table when there was a server problem. The game you were playing at the time of the problem has been cancelled and all chips (both real money and play money) at the table or in play have been returned to your account. Last game number: ******** (hand histories can be retrieved from the Options menu in the lobby) ---- Tournament Summary ---- You were participating in a tournament at the time and were holding 4,445 chips out of the total 10,000 chips in the tournament (44.45%). As per our fairness policy, all players in the tournament who still have chips will a receive a full refund of both their buy-in and their entry fee. In addition, the remaining prize pool ($60.00 from the players who busted out) will be paid out completely to these remaining players. The amount awarded to each player is proportionate to the number of tournament chips the player was holding at the end of the last completed game. Games which were cancelled before finishing cannot be counted. Adjustments are made to ensure players are awarded the minimum prize (if there is one) and that no player is awarded more than the first prize amount. This resolution treats all players fairly and ensures that the entire prize pool gets paid out to the players who were still playing. We apologize for any inconveniences. Share of remaining prize pool: $28.89 Buy-In refund: $10.00 Entry fee refund: $1.00 TOTAL refund: $39.89 ---- Real Money Account Summary ---- $***** Available account balance at time of game cancellation $0.00 Total stake at all real money tables $28.89 Your share of the tournament prize pool $10.00 Tournament buy-in refund $1.00 Tournament fee refund ------------ $***** Current account balance ------------ This is an unusual occurrence and we apologize for any inconvenience to the players that believed they may have had winning hands, but the game has been cancelled. This is similar to a fire breaking out in a real card room, though in our case we are back dealing cards within a minute in most cases. We're sorry for any inconvenience and will be taking steps to ensure this does not happen again. We take these problems very seriously. Please email [email protected] if you have any further questions.
A Bit happier now but this happens much too often on Paradise for my liking.
  10. Just played a $10 STT on Paradise Poker. In the last two and I get disconnected! This has happened a few times but not in these circumstances... we both had 5000 chips and then it sh!ts on you. Is it down to AOL (I assume so cos when I try to re-connect it says "Are You Using AOL?") or is it Paradise Pokers software? I have disconnected and reconnected about 10 times and restarted computer twice. As I type I have been reconnected but my balance shows a $30 runner up prize. It looks as though it was paradise that was knackered cos everything is down. So because he had about 5030 chips to my 4970.. he wins? Very fair! Ive now just got a pop up message saying "we have had to cancel all mini tournament games. We will send out emails regarding refunds" .. does this mean I wont even keep my $30?? This is a terrible service!
