  1. Re: Champions League Oct 2 - Oct 3 Rangers stung me ( and nearly everyone else it seems :lol for a Lyon/Sevilla double so lets try and win that money back! Ok, here goes, bets for tonight:- Schalke 0-0.5 AH at 1.8 betfair. If they draw we only lose half of stake. So Rosenborg held Chelsea does not concern me too much. Chelsea are really struggling at the moment and even with a full strength team they do not try and score goals galore. Schalke away this season have already drawn with reigning champions Stuttgart and Bayern who are in terrific form. Rosenborg are not even close to the top of their own league which is nowhere near the class of the Bundesliga Liverpool/Werder win double 1.94 betfair, 1.97 Skybet. Liverpool are awesome at home in champions league so no real need to comment other than to say Marsailles are struggling AND it looks like their ray of hope Nasri could be out with illness which is a huge bonus. Breman are now coming into form after winning 8-1 at the weekend and this team is full of goals. They played really well in the defeat to Real Madrid and Olympiacos have not only started their season domestically quite poorly but don't travel too well in europe either. Also consider Liverpool clean sheet 1.77 betfair or to win to nil evens at bet365 both very good value IMO Final one and for smaller stakes is the draw between Valencia and Chelsea. Chelsea won this game 2-1 last season and although they are struggling somewhat I still think they will be tough to beat. For me there is little between the teams and if it gets to an hour or so and its all square I may lay the bet GL everyone :hope

  2. Re: Sweden, Allsvenskan, 29/9 - 1/10

Kalmar - Malmo / Kalmar @ 2.05 Kalmar is in top form this year. They're on 5th position will less 4 points and also less 1 game. If they won this one, they will chase title and they're also a very good side to win this. Kalmar plays good at home and on the last match they won 3-0 over IFK, the 2nd placed!! This team knows that could be champions and playing at home they will have the supporters to take some advantage over Malmo. Malmo are a little irregular at this time. They're on 8th place and away from home they're not brilliant. On the last match they losed 2-1 with the poor Gefle wich is in 10th place. On the last meeting Malmo hosts Kalmar and losed by 1-2. This Kalmar will face here a very good test and they're very moralized over last victory. They canґt forget that if they won this match, they'll be chasing the title icon_smile.gif I bet on Kalmar home win. Good bets.
Great call, followed your instincts with medium stake and nice win - thanks for the info.:ok
  3. Re: Rugby World Cup 2007 - Official Thread

Bambers, based on the IRB ratings, Scotland (74.95) should beat Romania (66.51) by around 26 pts. Lots of prices now available all around the 25/26/27 mark @ 1.90. Sporting Index (always a good guide) go 25-28. Last 5 games between the two:
    11 Nov 2006Scotland48 - 6Romania
    05 Jun 2005Romania19 - 39Scotland
    09 Nov 2002Scotland37 - 10Romania
    28 Aug 1999Scotland60 - 19Romania
    22 Apr 1995Scotland49 - 16Romania
Thanks for that info, I know they are at home but I rate Italy a better team and they struggled to overcome Romania, so +34 looks decent value so may be worth a medium stake. Thanks
  4. Re: Rugby World Cup 2007 - Official Thread Got stung on both the NZ and France handicaps by going the wrong way with both!! However I note on betfair Romania + 36.5 is currently 1.64. Looking at the narrow defeat to Italy will this have any significance? Did Italy play poorly or were Romania better than normal. My thoughts are that if Italy only managed a narrow win that Scotland won't do much better. Can someone please enlighten me - thanks Thats the only handicap available at the moment, all other bookies a bit slow!

  5. Re: Rugby World Cup 2007 - Official Thread I have taken the -110.5 on New Zealand v Portugal on betfair currently 1.89 (most other handicaps are 120 even up to 138 for similar odds!) for the following reasons - 1) They will see this as a chance to beat the world record score 2) Fringe players will do their best to stake a claim for later in the tournement 3) I believe several of their players are retiring after the tournement and one of them is close to being the all time All Blacks record try scorer 4) The fact Australia beat Japan by 88 points when Aus are not as good as the All Blacks and Japan are better than Portugal 5) I would not be suprised if Portugal rested some players saving them for a more winnable match The only downside is New Zealand could be greedy going for tries galore individually instead of a team but they are the ultimate professionals so fingers crossed they can do it! I think this bet is more reliable than the Australia bet. :hope

  6. Re: Rugby World Cup 2007 - Official Thread My only concerns are Australias motivation NOT to play New Zealand until the final. If they are runners up of their group they are likely to play South Africa which although will be tough, is a hell of alot easier than facing the All blacks. If they win the group they would meet in the semi finals. I know little about rugby so I suppose when Australia name their team it will give us a clue as to their intent on winning the game, and comments that they only narrowly beat Wales at home and have not won the last two times at Cardiff in front of a passionate home support is also a concern. Anyone any views?

  7. Re: Euro 2008 qualifiers - matches 12/9 The half time draw England Russia seems a reasonable bet, another one to look at is Luxemburg +3 away to Bulgaria. They are not the whipping boys they once were and have not lost a game by more then 3 goals inqualifying, even to the dutch! 8 games played and 17 conceded. Ok, they are away against Bulgaria who have petrov and Berbatov but no way do I rate the Bulgarian attack as good as the Dutch. 1.92 with betfair and 1.95 with bet365 _ even if they lose by 3, money back so decent odds :hope

  8. Re: Euro 2008 Matches (Sep 8)

First time tips but here we go:- Scotland game under 2.5 looks good to me. Lithuania are no pushovers having drawn 1-1 away at Italy, and losing 1-0 at home to France and 1-0 away to Ukraine. Bearing in mind Scotland only scored 2 away to the Faroes and Lithuania have only scored 4 and conceded 7 in 7 games I quite fancy this one. Odds on betfair for unders is 1.88

Germany AH – 1 v Wales. The loss of Giggs is a blow and the efficient Germans can cover what is needed here. Having beaten England 2-1 in our own back yard and also winning 2-1 against the CzechRepublic they are a good side. I know Wales snuffed out the Czechs at home last time but with Klose, Podolski and Gomez to chose from up front I see a 2 or 3 goal Germany win.

-1 ah is a very healthy 1.95 on betfair. Can't see anything other than a german win and if only by a goal we get our stake back.

Russia – Macedonia. A must win game to keep Russia in the hunt as they play us on Wednesday. Anything less than a win and they will struggle to qualify, however they will just do enough with one eye on the game with England mid week. They won the reverse comfortably 2-0 and the AH -1.5 ah is a decent 1.8 on betfair or under 2.5 is 2.1

England clean sheet 1.78 worthy of interest as both teams will be nervous with so much at stake. I can see a stalemate until half time and then England to perhaps sneak one in the second half before defending for their lives and giving us all several heart attacks until the final whistle!! The strongest bet for me out of those will be the German one as they are strolling in their group and if they can beat England in our back yard then hopefully the Welsh will be easy enough to sort out. Good luck to everyone betting today and if you chose my selections, may the force be with us! ;)

Scotland tip lost Germany won Russia won the ah bet but not the unders due to 2 goals in last 10 mins England clean sheet won 3 out of 5 win which gives me a slight profit, just wish I had backed Klose to score first in Wales game as I mentioned him in my write up!!
  9. Re: Euro 2008 Matches (Sep 8)

How about this for the England v Israel match HT Draw FT England -3/1 Israel have said they will play defensively and go for the draw. England are shite up front and will struggle..can see Israel hanging on until half time and England scraping a second half win...
I like your thinking mate and I will probably either go for unders or England clean sheet as well as this will be a tight game. Israel undefeated away from home since 2005 and played France and Rep Ireland in world cup qualifying group so no mugs

  11. Re: Rugby World Cup 2007 - Official Thread Heard about the Argies plus 11.5 bet earlier today from a mate. I don't usually follow rugby but will keep an eye on this thread. Lumped £50 on at just under evens so thats a great start to the weekend unless disaster happens in the last 5 mins!! The Ireland game handicap with namibia looks interesting if indeed the Irish coach will be playing his strongest line up. Apart from the gulf in class, is it a fair assumption that the lesser nations lack discipline and are likely to give loads of penalties away? I also heard that many of the teams playing New Zealand will play weakened teams as they dont stand a chance and would prefer to save their players for matches they have a better chance in. I would imagine that their fringe players would probably beat most teams best line ups so if its reserves against reserves I can still see them winning easily. Just need someone to confirm my thought being that I only watch rugby every 4 years!! Thanks chaps :hope

  12. Re: Sweden, Allsvenskan, 7 - 11/7 G.G any thoughts on tonights game?? I see they beat AIK away so that surely makes them strong favourites for the home win with the added bonus of going to the top of the league and playing on the artificial grass in front of their own fans. 3 of the last 4 games between these two at Elfsborg ground have been unders and stats these season show it to be pretty close to overs or unders and I suspect I will leave that alone. Thanks
