  1. Re: Warwick ~ 18/06/07

First post here, great site btw. E/W fancy for Marshman - Warwick 8.15 Will like the ground and has a good weight with the claimer booked to ride.
:welcome Tipsy - your selection was a non runner... good luck for the future selections and enjoy your time at Punters Lounge !
  2. Re: Mondays EW Fancies ~ 18/06/07

Valentino Swing 8.15 Warwick @13.00 BetDirect c/d WINNER on same going although grade lower! Kerrin Mcevoy aboard should give a good run for the money if fit... (sorry bit late with post, worked late!) :ok
Great shout Jonesy, came home 2nd. Was popular before hand being backed in to 6's from 9/1.... :clap
  3. Re: Day 1 @ Ascot Tuesday 19th June St James's Palace Stakes (group 1) 15:45 - Duke of Marmalade (Forecast price 12/1) Trainer: Aidan O'Brien

The high-class form of Strategic Prince, the first British-trained horse home behind Teofilo and Holy Roman Emperor in the Dewhurst, ties in with Duke Of Marmalade who lost by just a neck to him in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood. That was the third and final start of the season for the Danehill colt who made an eye-catching debut at Leopardstown in June and beat the subsequent Moyglare third Supposition in a maiden at The Curragh later that month. A laid-back individual, he should have no trouble establishing a presence at Pattern level, now that he has reportedly recovered from a fractured pastern.

  4. Kings Stand Stakes (Group 2) 15:05 - Benbaun (Forecast price 10/1) Trainer: Mark Wallace<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The racing achievements of a sprinter can usually be measured in fractions. The margins between victory and defeat are rarely very much and Mark Wallace's inmate suffered more than most with a whole host of near misses in some high profile events during the summer of 2006. He finally got his just desserts with a win at the Curragh in August before two creditable efforts in defeat abroad rounded off his campaign. He is related to horses that got better with age and that suggest he could return to action better than ever as a six year old. Fantastically tough and consistent, he is not far off the best around in the division and his time could well have finally arrived.

  5. Re: Uttoxeter 14/06/07 20:15 - Storm Talk (RPF 6/1) One of the more unexposed sorts. 2 races in May saw a win and second place both at the 3m mark. LTO hit 1st hurdle and was left with a lot to do but generally was disappointing when joint fav over the shorter trip of 2m 6f. Going of a light weight here certainly one of the more likley to take the honours. Any rain a bonus.

  6. Re: Uttoxeter 14/06/07 19:45 - Sento (RPF 8/1) Has won on Gd to Sft before at Exeter so will not mind any rain that comes. Won two class 3's during the 2nd half of last year and had his seasonal reappearance last month in a hot class 2 event. PU that time but hoping that was for fitness reasons and will be back with a bang tonight after being dropped back to class 3. Chocolate Thornton takes the ride and looks a big price to take this.

  7. Re: Uttoxeter 14/06/07 19:15 - Dreamaker (RPF 10/1) Not a bad chasing debut lto when credible 4th of 9 over the longer trip of 3m2f. Today dropped to 2m 6f and will appreciate that on the evidence to date. The jockey, Keniery, is up on level stakes for the season and looks as good a bet as any in this open race.

  8. Re: Uttoxeter 14/06/07 Sorry it's late but I am going for ; 18:45 - Weet Yer Tern (RPF 12/1) Seems to have taken to hurdles well and jockey should know all about it after taking its 2 previous runs over sticks. Big price and a big race eaxpected. :hope

  9. Re: Newbury 14/06/07

Horse Name: Hi Calypso Racecourse: Newbury Time: 5.25 Old sniffy (Sir M Stoute) has a 20% SR over the last 4 seasons here and like the Jarvis horse he sends just 1 runner to the track
Great pick Carl - Love to see those big priced winners! :clap
  10. Re: RussP's Specialisation - Big Field Handicaps (Flat)

Not giving up on today just yet, and have another 2 E/W bets for later this evening. 9.10 Hamilton 6f handicap, Class 3 with 13 facing the starter. Very open event with nothing standing out amongst the favs so take a chance on a double figure price: Machinist (10/1 Sporting Odds) - Dandy Nicholls has 3 in this event, so is clearly hoping he can with this. The best of the 3 for me is Machinist, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa. Recent form figures don't inspire but this is a very capable horse and tonight returns to optimum conditions. Needs 6f and good ground or better which it will get tonight. Has been campaigned exclusively in Class 2 company for the last 12 months and has been racing off a mark in the 90's. However, tonight drops to Class 3 and has a mark of 88. In the last year, has only twice raced off a mark in the 80's, coincidentally both were off tonights mark and good results to boot....Class 2 race here, finishing 2nd over C&D in race worth 21K (tonights is worth 10K), and Class 2 race at Ascot winning a 5f sprint.
Awesome, well done :clap Had a couple of quid on this so thanks ! :beer
  11. Re: Kempton ~ 13/06/07 21:20 - Dee Cee Elle (RPF 9/4) It seems the whole forum are on this tonight. I cant fault it either - and it has the outside draw. 2 wins from 2 on the AW and this is well within reach. Only surprise is that this is not nearer evens ! :hope

  12. Re: Kempton ~ 13/06/07 This evening racing is proofing to be expensive... but addictive. Just to small stakes I am selecting the following; 20:50 - Sailor King (RPF 7/1) 1st out of 11 at 8/1 :) :) :) Firstly all but the 33/1 shot that have won here tonight have been drawn wide - so looking for a high draw in this. SK drawn 9 is good enough. Had three outings in May winning on the AW at Lingfield followed up with a 2nd place on the turf and then upped in class on the turf at Newmarket when coming home 7th whilst staying on. Back to the AW today and should be respected. Also worth noting is the money behind this Bay Gelding. In two out of the last 5 races he was first backed in to 2/1f from 6's here at Kempton then 3 races ago was backed into 3/1f from 9's. Today there is a worrying drift going on as currentl at 12's but that does not put me off for the small stakes I am playing. :hope

  13. Re: Kempton ~ 13/06/07 20:20 - The Composer (RPF 14/1) 9th out of 14 :( Has spent the majority of his time running in class 2,3, & 4's mixed between flat and hurdling. Has won over the distance and today remarkably drops for the first time to a lowly class 6. With the onfire Seb Sanders on board this has to be up there with them on the run in. At 14's - cant be missed. :hope

  14. Re: Kempton ~ 13/06/07 19:50 - Kassuta (RPF 6/1) 6th out of 8 :( 4 decent efforts to her name but yet to get of the mark. Up in distance slightly today to 7f - looks like it will suit after keeping on well enough in last 2 outings under the dhorter distance of 6f. Saleem Golam takes the ride and would not be surprised to see her in the winners enclosure before to long. :hope

  15. Re: Kempton ~ 13/06/07 18:50 - Straight and Level (RPF 6/1) 3rd :( Seems to have quickly got used to running without much signs of greennish. Not beaten far on all 3 starts and should put that experience to good use today against mostly novice rivals. 19:20 - Royal Rock (11/4 fav) 1st :) Two red hot favs contesting out this class 4 6f sprint. I am siding with RR here as he has been the most consistent over there brief careers. 4 runs 1 x 1st 1 x 2nd and 1 x 3rd. Seems to be imroving every race and was only just caught at the post to lose LTO when fav (debatable jockey performance that day up at Newcastle). The always reliable George Baker takes the ride today. :hope

  16. Re: Leopardstown ~ 13/06/07 19:30 - Fleeting Shadow (RPF 6/1) Big price currently available at 9's makes this a solid e/w punt. Last year winner at Galway festival at todays distance and that followed up a great 2nd on debut. Couple of decent efforts in tough group 1's in France and then the Curragh and then attempted the Irish Guineas. Todays race is much easier that that he has been involved with to date and Dermot Weld expects big things from this promising colt. :hope

  17. Re: Chester 12th 19:45 - Phluke (RPF 13/2) Superb couple of efforts in May this year when winning valuableish class 2 at Catterick and a potentially tricky class 4 at warwick. Followed up by a deceiving run where alough finished11 of 13 it was pretty much a blanket finish and only 7l from 1st to 11th. Back down in grade today and seemingly perfect conditions. Def one to consider and will be taking my money to post.

  18. Re: Chester 12th 19:15 - Top Seed (14/1) Has done all his best work at up to 10f. Has been running further over the past year or so so may relish the drop back to 10f. Obvious ability as raced in numerous listed races over the years and needs to show some signs of that ability again. With 8 runners paying for 3 places this seems a steal at the current 16's that are around. GL

  19. Re: Worcester ~ 12/06/07

19:30 - My Carole (RPF 8/1) Shaped well but could not quicken in the run in :(

Pretty unexposed for a 7 year old this one, best to focus on her last race. Was running pretty fresh after a break of 4 months and was backed in from 6/1 into 4/1 and joinf favourtism.

Did not seem to be much in the form to suggest she deserved such a skinny price but ran extremley well and was beaten into 2nd place that night.

Drop in grade today and up in distance. I am surprised to see such a price about her now and is currently available at 14's.

Def worth a few bob e/w.

    :hope

    20:00 - Roaring Water (RPF 13/2)

Going of the light weight of 10st 10 and has a lot in hand over most rivals. Very encouraging attempt lto when coming home in 2nd place in similar race as today.

LTO was first for almost 5 months so hopefully should be fitter for todays crack.

    :hope

    20:30 - Saucy Night (RPF 20/1)

Seems to be an anilmal who has good days and bad. More bad than good of late but reasonable effort in penultimate effort. Won decent enough class 4 back in October and seems to be going back in the right direction after that 4th in Newton Abbott back in April.

Distant 5th out of 10 lto but hopefully todays light weight 10st 5 (+3lb jockey allowance) should see him a bit closer today.

    :hope

    21:00 - Amber Brook (RPF 10/1)

Very open looking NH flat race to round of the evening. Most entrants have little know form about them. The one that stands out is Amber Brook. Was not beaten far into 4th out of 15.

Two animals that beat her that day have gone on to run in class 2's and neither really disappointed. That form stands up quite well for me and I think is a big price to follow that up with a bold effort tonight.

    :hope

Right thats my lot - wish me luck (I'll need it...!)

    Haitch

  20. Re: Worcester ~ 12/06/07 19:00 - Arctic Reason (RPF 14/1) :( Needs to learn how to jump fell at 2nd Back after a long break with a series of differing results. First up was pretty non discript, blundered at the 2nd and fell. Next up was hampered in the run in but still ran on for 3rd place. On its penultimate run was rather lucky when left in front at the last but done well enough to win that class 4 chase by 17l. Lto was disappointing when dropped to 2m. Back up to ideal 2m 4f today and could get back in the frame at a reasonable price. :hope

  21. Re: Worcester ~ 12/06/07 We as this is the ATR covered meeting I am going to have a selection through the card. Hoping to make up for my dreadful effort last night at Pontefract - so either stay away from these until I start hitting a bit of form or perhaps I am due a winner. You will notice that I do try to look for a bit of value rather than back the fav (unless it is a certainty!) OK so here goes for the first; 18:30 - Dik Dik (RPF 20/1) Pah Fav would have won that with his eyes closed :( Has been running over 2 miles on the flat so shows signs of stamina. Brought down at the first on hurdling debut. He was pulled up on his next run over 3m - clearly too far. Next up was down to 17f and ran well enough in the majority of the race before easing down towards the end. Hoping things are back in prime shape today and slightly down in trip again to 2m. Not much apparant competition (aside from the red hot jolly) so is worth backing e/w and a small reverse f/cast with the fav. :hope
