  1. Re: BBOTD - Friday 19 March

1.30 Cheltenham: Barizan 0.5pts e/w @ 28/1 Paddy Power BOG Looks a tremendous price for this race with today's going in his favour. Progressing very nicely over hurdles until defeat LTO to Pistolet Noir on ground that would have been softer than ideal. Had Olofi well behind that day and reopposes that one on 4lb better terms yet is double the price - doesn't make sense to me so from a pure value perspective this one has to be a decent each way shout. Has the all important C&D form and will be surprised if this one isn't involved in the shake up.
Great call. Very unlucky. Matched at 1.1 IR.
  2. Re: BBOTD - Friday 19 March

OLDRIK 2.05 Cheltenham. 1 point win. Needs to be on his best form' date= but stable and jockey firing at the moment and this race looks sure to be run to suit. The trip and ground are fine and he does have that tough of speed when it matters to close today.
This is may main fancy today. Good luck.
  3. Re: Kempton 24/09 13:50 - Grapes of wrath (5/1) Potentially anyones race here. But my selection is very well bred. Sire is Halling, a multiple top class winner. Johnstons only runner of day here at Kempton and decwnt draw. Sorry for the short notice! Haitch

  4. Re: Fontwell 09/09/07

Terramique (4.20 Fontwell) has some good stats on his side - Won or placed in last 11 races (8 wins, 3 places). All but two were at Class 4. - Has won 2 out of 2 here at Fontwell - Has won 2 out of 2 at todays distance - Has won 7 out of 8 (placed in the other) on good to firm ground - Has won 2 out of 2 when running in September - Has won 7 out of 10 when ridden by todays jockey Marcus Foley (placed in other 3) - Trainer Nicky Henderson has a 25% strike rate at this course - Jockey Marcus Foley has a 20% strike rate here too - Trainer/jockey combination had a 30% strike rate last season and are starting this season in same vein (3 wins from 6 runs) Looks worth a flutter to me at around 6/4 last time I looked :hope

Nice stats. It does seem strange why Henderson does not step him up into some real decent company. Has never been entered in anything better than Class 4 where he has won 6 out of the 9 times! Also does not seem to matter whether it is a hurdle or a chase! GL with this.
  5. Re: Fontwell 09/09/07 15:40 - Monty's Island (16/1) 2m 6f Cls 4 This horse has been around the block a few times but is currently running as well as ever at the ripe old age of 10. Encouraging run lto leaves room for optimism that his fist win is just around the corner. Another thing to note is that twice in recent outings he has been the subject of reasonable gambles which show that someone out there thinks he is ready to land the spoils. Haitch

  6. Re: EW Fancies Sun 09/09/2007 14:20 York - Natural Rhythm (20/1) The main danger I see to La Chicaluna comes from the most experienced runner in the race with 9 runs to his name already, Natural Rhythm (20/1). After an unsuccessful stint running over the minimum distance he has been given two cracks at todays 7f. Results, 1st of 9 then 3rd of 11 - these were at a lower level to todays attempt but never the less is the only runner who has won at todays distance. With Dale Gibson on board I expect a big run at a big price. :hope

  7. Re: York 09/09/07

I know that connections of the horse are hoping to get the horse to win before the summer is over, then move the horse onto bigger and better races next year. The horse is question holds a Doncaster entry for this coming friday, they want to get the horse into this. After reviewing the race the horse was in last time it is clear to see that the horse ran really well into 5th when in rear and was ridden at Redcar over this same trip. Has just got a handicap mark and it could very well be leinient. Definatly one to note, this horse is Marlena, ridden by Duran Fentiman who takes off a valuble 3 plbs. 20/1 at Present, keep your eye on this one.
Christelfordwigan, I did make a note of Marlena, as she has caught my eye with the notable improvement in each outing to date. Interesting entry for the class 3 on Friday shows the yard have good confidence in her. Could well sneak a place behind my two selections here of Natural Rhythm and La Chicaluna! GL
  8. Re: York 09/09/07 14:50 - Upstanding (10/1) 5f Cls 4 My selection here has looked like winning for a while now and is surley just a metter of time before she records her first victory. I fancy it to come today. Has been seen out 8 times to date all of which have been at todays minimum trip. The first 4 runs were really nothing to write home about. She then had a 3 month break and reintroduced in Aug when things finally started to click into place. Firstly, a great 2/11 followed up by a 3/9 and then a 4/13 and last time out came in 2/11. She just needs to get her head in front and with the jock taking 7lb off today, this could be the day. 15:25 - Paraguay (16/1) 7f Cls 5 Frustrating type who also promised more than he actually has achieved. There is definatley potential here though with 2 wins and 3 places to his name to date. Down to a very winable mark and with Liam Jones taking a further 3lb off his back has a stone in hand of the fav. I believe it is worth sticking with Paraguay as it has a better chance than the price suggests. Visor on today may also be an advantage. Haitch

  9. Re: York 09/09/07 14:20 La Chicaluna (7/1) 7f Class 4 Unlike many, I am ignoring my selections previous outing. It was a valuable class 2 event but things did not work out to give any real indications of quality. Stumbled out of stalls then was blocked in once recovered. Previous form to this is encouraging. 2 wins and a 2nd at 6f. Carl quite rightly points out that she may not get the trip, but from the comments from her 6f win in June "ridden over 1f out, kept on well" and then to follow this up with another win in heavy conditions at 6f makes me think she will have no problems getting todays trip. In fact, I have more doubt about the jollys chances of staying the distance. The main danger I see to La Chicaluna comes from the most experienced runner in the race with 9 runs to his name already, Natural Rhythm (20/1). Prediction: 1st La Chicaluna (7/1) 2nd Natural Rhythm (20/1) Haitch

  10. Re: EW Fancies - Wed 05/09/07 Nice selection Asificare. 2nd at 9/1. I will look out for Halicarnassus when back out in small fields. Billy - nice pick also. You must have been delighted with the 33's sp. Running on but just missed out on the money. 5th place is a good effort all the same. Keep it up. Haitch PS. I have finally got my broadband connection installed so I will be back posting up my e/w fancies.

  11. Re: Sandown 2nd August Selections Quick one from me. Beau Sancy in the 19:30 Is in cracking form of late with 2 1st's and a 2nd in last 3 races.... has won on the ground and off a reasonable mark. Big price at 16's and one I'll be backing. GL (Oh by the way - just moved house up to Scotland so will be back on more frequent once broadband is up!) Haitch

  12. Re: Stiff finish?? Good question mate, "Stiff track A track that requires a lot of stamina, such as one with a long home straight or an uphill finish, such as Cheltenham Tight track Generally a narrow track with tight turns that suits smaller, nippier horses e.g. Cartmel or Kelso" Haitch

  13. Re: York 14/7

2.10 Vicious Warrior e/w 11/1 I agree with Billy (not coping honest)this horse has a good chance.Dean Mckeown gets a few winners for this trainer each season. The horse ran well LTO and should go close in similar conditions today.
Well done also Ted. Thats a nice winner there. :clap
  14. Re: York 14/7

210 York : Vicious Warrior (12/1) Front runner who could get the race to suit with only one other front runner in the race, showing signs of returning to his best form, likes the soft ground and wont mind if its heavy, trainer usually has one lined up for this track and at 12/1 should make a bold bid for home once hitting the 3f marker.
Superb mate. Well done - one for you there Remmer (Happy Birthday mate !) :clap
  15. Re: Newmarket 12/07 15:10 - Sixties Icon (9/4) IMO whoever finishes ahead of Sixties Icon will win this race. However, I can not see anything getting there. I had a look at Lucarno. I think he could get a place here but would expect a much bigger price for a horse unconvincing at the trip. Sixties Icon looks like he follows up a win with a poorer effort. Well last time out in the Coronation Cup @ Epsom he really let himself down. 7/7 looks worse than actually was. Frankie eased right down when beaten. I fully expect him to be back to his best today. GL

  16. Re: Thursdays NAPS ~ 12/07/07 17:05 Lingfield - Bienheureux (RPF 3/1) Much raced selection for this one. Has obvious talent as the stats tell (7 1sts, 6 2nds & 11 3rds). Absolute specialst over 1m4 and seems to get on well at Lingfield (Placed 6 out of 9 times). Has consistently performed above this level and todays race is definatley there for the taking. :ok

  17. Re: Thursdays EW Fancies ~ 12/07/07 15:20 Lingfield - Red Blossom (RPF 13/2) A 9 runner race on the AW sees Seb Sanders on the 3YO Filly Red Blossom. This is here third race and so far has done enough to make me think she can take the spoils here today. Debut 13/06/07 - 7f Cls 5 @ Beverley on gd/frm. 3rd out of 13 when a well backed favourite. Every chance when hund badly near finish. Last race 29/06/07 - 7f Cls 5 @ Newcastle on Heavy ground. Finished 9th out of 10. Again well backed favourite. Well I think todays value of 13/2 is largley thanks to the last run. Is an obvious quirky type who likes things her own way. She just did not like the heavy going one bit. 1st attempt on the AW should be much more up her street. :ok

  19. Re: Wolverhampton ~ 10/07/07

9.20 Wolves A good EW in the last has to be EXOTIC VENTURE. Good trainer/jockey combination. Ran well 2 runs ago, if you forget the last run he has strong claims for Seb Sanders. 14/1
Cheers Stewart - Fancy a flutter on the lucky last and so am following you here Fingers crossed !
  20. Re: Beverley ~ 06/07/07 Wiltshire12345 - it looks like your post has been deleted due to the lack of reasoning (see Carl's post at top of forum). Must say that Mister Minty was subject to a good old gamble and was matched at 4.2 in running. Hope you managed to trade out as he faded quickly and finished unplaced. Good effort though :ok

  21. Re: Fridays NAPS ~ 06/07/07 Hope to continue the trend for today. 19:45 Beverley - Baylaw Star (4/1) I notice that Baylaw Star has raced 5 times at Beverley and has won 4 and came 3rd in 1. So obvious love for the track and bottom weight tonight will be helpful in the heavy ground. Has won on soft ground before so no excuses there. Haitch
