  1. Round 24

    Leicester vs Liverpool

    A late train to title

As late as it is to win and get back to the title game, there is still so much at stake for this game. Leicester needs to solidify their top 3 position on the table. Liverpool, Chelsea, and West Ham all feel they can find themselves even at 2nd and looking for any chances to take advantage of. I do not think Liverpool is happy about this fact either. If both teams draw, Chelsea and West Ham, with their rather lighter schedule might suddenly become contenders for the top three. If Liverpool loses this game, they might find themselves in the 6th position racing with Everton suddenly. Three losses in a row are something unheard of Liverpool, Klopp still has some credit but this won’t be well accepted by fans if they cant take this one home. Leicester has a tough defense, and they are used to the big games like this but up until now they only claimed 5 wins at home with 5 loss and a draw. Van Dijks’ absence costed Liverpool a lot already. Klopp sees young Kabak as a savior but who knows what he can do in such a short time. Whoever scores will try to hold their position. If they fail it will be end up as a draw.

    Manchester City vs Tottenham

The day that everybody is a Spurs fan

Many times, we thought “this is the game for Mourinho to save his ass” but many times we got disappointed. Especially after the Everton game at the Cup this week. Maybe Keane was right after all. With Keane back, Mourinho will give this one a hard push, to recollect the team’s confidence and get them back to the European qualifiers position but they can hardly win this one. I see no reason why Manchester City couldn’t win this one.

    Manchester United vs West Bromwich

    Eyes still on the top

Evertons’ unfortunate last minute goal devastated United in their last game and they quickly need to leave that behind and push their best to get back up for the title. There is nothing to leave to chance or to leave loose ends like they did with Sheffield and Everton. The squad is on a good condition, they just have to be serious and result oriented.

    Arsenal vs Leeds

    An eventful night

Gunners had seen some bad weeks behind and their long time rival is trying to make sure it stays that way. Both teams surprised PL audiences with their results, both good and bad ways and both teams does not like draws indeed. Leeds haven’t seen a draw since November last year, it is really hit or miss with them. Likewise Arsenal saw 3 games drawn in last 15 games. Playing with 3.5 goal average per match, Leeds games are hardly boring.

  2. 06.02.2021, 07.02.2021 – Round 23
     Aston Villa vs Arsenal
    Stalemate!

A very decisive game for Arsenal after the dramatic Wolverhampton loss. If Arsenal wants to have a chance for European leagues they really have to take this one home. The Lions are just one point ahead of Arsenal and there are 3 teams lurking behind Arsenal for their spot. They have lost 1-3 to West Ham but who could blame them? So the same goes on for Aston Villa, if they will fight for a qualifying position, they should start winning these big games. Both teams will play for a win, Aston Villa does better with scoring than Arsenal and I don’t think they will revoke Luiz’ red card ban, it is expected that we might see some goals in this game. If the both teams do their best, its going to be a draw at best. 1-1 or 2-2.

     Manchester United vs Everton
    One step closer?

After the shock home defeat against Sheffield and the Arsenal draw, Man Utd must ride the wave of the glorious 9-0 victory and win this game then they can enjoy the nice Sunday on their couch watching Man City and Liverpool eating each other out. Everton proved to be one of the toughest teams of the league but they struggle to win against teams up from their standing. Narrow win for Manchester United.

    Liverpool vs Manchester City
Anfield stronghold has seen some stain on its badge after Brighton and Burnley losses, their contenders have already called its record into question. On the other side, the record-breaking clean sheet run Man City is going for and the injuries Liverpool has been facing should really ring the bells Klopp this Sunday. I fear the Brighton loss will be what it was signalling all along. With the outstanding performance of Ilkay Gundogan, Liverpool wont be able to break the defensive line I can imagine another clean sheet and a win and that will be the goodbye title for Liverpool this year.

  3. Tottenham vs Chelsea

Can you lead an army to victory without it’s general?

Harry Keane’s injury costed Tottenham more than anticipated in the last Brighton game, even when they have conceded a 1st half goal, they lacked to show the finishing skills on the offense. There is nothing more concerning for Mourinho than the set up of his offences for this game. We know he proves his genius in such challenges but it will not be easy against the full-squad Chelsea, especially when Tuchel is also trying to make the fans forget Lampard and instigate his new authority on the team. I believe Tottenham took their lessons on the Brighton game but a Chelsea victory is too soon for glory for them. Chelsea will work their best to take Tottenham's standing. This will end in a Chelsea win, I don’t see many ways out for Tottenham.

  4. Manchester United vs Southampton

One of the most exciting games of the week

Man Utd needs to get back on their feet at once if they want to keep contending for the title. Southampton, as challenging as they are, could not make it into any points against the big teams such as Leicester, Arsenal or Manchester City. The last Aston Villa defeat kept them on their downward spiral as the Lions made a solid step against one of their rivals over the Europa League ticket. I don’t see any reason for a point-craving Manchester United not to take advantage from the unfit Southampton. It is no secret that Manchester struggled their home games however I don’t think they can let this trend keep on if they really desire the title. I expect goals and I expect a win, 3-1 for Manchester Utd. this week.

    Wolverhampton vs Arsenal

If you are looking for a booster for your slip this might be it

Wolves still have not got themselves out of the swamp they are in, playing a home game with Arsenal isn’t the best chance to make a step forward. It will be a hard one indeed however they at least know how to contain big teams out of their cage. Winless in eight league fixtures, Wolverhampton just might be about to keep their trend. Gunners on the other side, even if they don’t win they always know how to put up a good fight. Thanks to David Luiz extraordinary leadership in the defensive performance, Arsenal has been a tough cookie for the greatest, conceded only one goal in the second halves of the away games. Once they score, there is near to nil chance to score against Arsenal. Two teams have the lowest average goals per match along with Sheffield and Burley. I think this game will highlight this stat. A second half score and a narrow win for Arsenal 0-1.

Sheffield United vs West Bromwich Albion

    There is always hope

I am sure we are going to see 2 teams fully studied and 100% for this game as it might determine whether these two teams will carry on their journey on the Premier League. Sheffield has made everybody talk about them after that grand victory over Manchester United and consolidated their confidence in themselves, making 6 points in last 5 matches. West Bromwich on the other side has been giving great loopholes on their defensive side and have conceded 15 goals in 5 games. Sheffield proved a better defence against the title contenders by just conceding 1 goal in two of their toughest games this season against the Manchester teams. If Sheffield forgets their past and keeps this trend as a real improvement on their side I think they really have a chance to turn this one into a victory.

    Newcastle vs Crystal Palace

    Dead draw

We have two teams struggling to achieve more than they have been giving their fans for the last 5 weeks. Crystal Palace’s Sheffield and Wolverhampton wins does not impress me and Newcastle’s last Everton victory did not come out of a genuine study. These teams are hardly hanging on to their places and there is not much time until they watch their contenders lifting off before their eyes.
