  2. Re: Heavy Favourite Trebles... Haha thanks for your thoughts Gooner! :ok Indeed, I have another GH on here where the odds I back at range from 1.70 to 2.25 etc, which is about level after 12 or so bets. I know there's barely a scrap of value in this - just a bit of fun to keep me entertained and to see if I can get lucky. And I too have considered a LAYING heavy football favourites GH - that may well be my next one! :D Anyways, a win last night! :clap Zivanice 3-6 Jablonec :nana Turkey u19 1-0 Moldova u19 :nana Germany u20 3-2 Nigeria u20 :nana So far: Bets: 3 Won: 1 Lost: 2 Starting bank: £50.00 Current bank: £48.95 P/L: -£1.05

  3. Re: Heavy Favourite Trebles... Cheers Spooner :ok Always look out for your tips, both on here and SP. Well, a poor start so far, giving credence to the belief there's little value in backing short-odds favourites. But a long way to go yet, and I'm hopeful that the fact I'm aiming for combined odds of evens or above may show a modest return in the long run. Onwards and upwards! Tues bet Honefoss 2-0 Tromsdalen :clap Southampton 2-2 Torquay :spank Leeds 2-1 Darlington :clap So far: Bets 2 Won 0 Lost 2 Starting bank £50.00 Current bank £45.15 P/L: -£4.85

  4. Re: Heavy Favourite Trebles...

Well, mate, I wouldn't like to discourage you, but in my opinion, betting on favourites requires a lot of luck! Low odds mean you have to reach high strike rate, and there are always surprises; I'll just remind you what hapenned this weekend: Manchester United, PSG, Marseille, Bayern, Sturm... all of them heavy favourites, with odds 1.20 to 1.50... Simply, too much risk for indecent reward... Sorry if sounds harsh, but I'm telling you from my experience; in betting shops in my country there was a restriction that you must put at least four matches in the slip (singles were allowed, but no doubles or trebles); then, several years ago, bookie named "Premier" was the first one to remove restriction, and I started doing trebles in similar way like you now, and almost always one match was failing; then I switched to doubles, and most of the time, one match again (out of two possible, heh) was the one to ruin the double; I gave up after a half of year, with overall slight loss on level stakes for that strategy... There is a betting-help newspapers printed in Belgrade, Serbia, "Tip", they are out in Fridays; they have a column "Favourite to avoid": they put eight matches of heavy favourites on their site, and readers vote from Monday to Wednesday which one is most likely to fail; guess what: each weekend there are at least two or three, or even more, favourites who fail to grab the win; last weekend, most readers voted for Inter vs. Udineze, though Inter luckily scored a winning goal in 4th minute of injury time... Matches for next weekend, international qualifiers, are already online, www.tip.rs, if you want to check them and then compare in Sunday what will happen; site is in serbian language, but you'll see the poll at the left side; click on "Pogledaj rezultate" below the poll to view the results; you'll see that most people believe Spain will not win away to Armenia. Anyway, good luck with your glory hunt! :ok
Cheers Froment, thanks for your thoughts. Yeah, I know there's very little value in backing heavy favourites, but like I said this is just a bit of fun with low stakes. I'm not expecting it to do particularly well, but let's see :ok
  5. Bit of fun this, will be picking three heavy favourites in a treble, combined odds must be greater than evens. Starting bank will be £50, stake will be 5% of bank. Tonight's picks. Pacos Ferreira v Benfica, 1.47 Torino v Ancona, 1.43 Panathinaikos v Larissa, 1.19 £2.50 staked, £6.25 returned if bet is a winner.
