Spooner
Please read below. This is directed at us all and it will benefit all of us too. There are some quality posters on PL, the best forum we still are by a long way in my opinion. PL has always been proud of great posts that don't need to be a page long, even 2 or 3 sentences can be good enough stats or information to change someone's opinion, so nobody need be afraid of the guillotine. Livescore Threads will be in action from next week. Please keep all in running comments to the livescore threads though, or the main thread becomes a total mess. We may lock the main thread during matches to remind you to use the livescore threads. Let's increase the quality we're famous for and give good reasoning behind our bets, which can only benefit us all. Thanks for listening. :ok Just to let everyone know, we've had a bit of a discussion amongst the mods lately and the general consensus is that we're going to tighten up on a couple of things in the divisional threads. 1 – Quoting posts which recommend a certain bet and then agreeing with them. The feeling amongst the mods is that this doesn’t really add anything to the thread and that these posts would be better off in the Weekend/Midweek Bets thread. We appreciate that it can be difficult to add anything to an already well-reasoned bet, but if there’s nothing more to say then it’s essentially a bet without reasoning and doesn’t belong in the divisional threads. 2 – One-liners. We’re determined to keep the quality up on PL and whilst team news can be invaluable in some of the more obscure leagues, we’re not sure it really adds much on its own in the major leagues. Posts such as “Man U are without Rooney, so expect their attack to be weakened†(unless it’s last minute surprise news) aren’t really saying much on their own. As part of a well-reasoned post with a solid pick or an informed opinion, then of course this sort of info is just fine, but on its own it can be a little bit redundant. As ever, the aim of this is to keep up the quality that PL is renowned for and to ensure that the divisional threads are useful for everyone. Just to stress the point again - a couple of lines of analysis/reasoning is all we ask for. We're not demanding perfect English or essay-length posts (though, if you want to write an essay, that's fine too!), just an insight into why you think your pick is a good thing. :ok
