Suresh Raina’s Gujarat Lions side have proven themselves, in their first IPL season, to be a match for any side in this competition, topping the table and making it to the first qualifier against Royal Challengers Bangalore. But this must surely be their sternest test.

The winner of this game will automatically qualify for the final, while the loser will need to beat the winner of the eliminator game in order to make the last two. It is a fresh format that adds even more excitement to the closing stages of the tournament.

The competition has been more volatile than ever this year, with so many sides being competitive and taking points of the big names. It has shown the value of what the West Indies had at the World Cup. Balance and unity. Both these sides can claim those traits, to some degree.

The success of the Gujarat Lions has been built on how well they recruited, added to the class of Suresh Raina in this competition. He is hanging on to his position as top IPL runscorer of all time, and will be keen to extend his lead over Kohli here.

Gujarat’s overseas offer some of the most consistent threat of any side, with Dwayne Smith a perennial performer in this competition, Dwayne Bravo one of the best bowlers in the world, and Finch and McCullum, an opening partnership that would even keep Dale Steyn awake at night. But they do have an achilles heel.

Aside from Bravo, they look ordinary with the ball. And if any side will exploit that, it’s RCB.

Coming into this game with the best form in the competition, Kohli’s side look formidable. We’ve talked on many occasions about the batting quality in their ranks, but it really doesn’t get old. Some of their hitting power is extraordinary.

Kohli and Gayle fired Bangalore to 211 in just 15 overs against Kings XI Punjab, and they managed 248 against the already qualified Gujarat Lions. With De Villiers, Kohli and now Gayle in form, they are favourites for the title, even with needing to win this game.

Gayle’s return to form will be a relief as it takes pressure off Kohli and De Villiers at the top of the order. The big Jamaican looked incredible as he smashed eight sixes in a rapid 73 - and it’s only a matter of time before he returns to his destructive best, just ready for the final.

Add to that Shane Watson and the form keeper, Rahul, it’s easy to see why they have won their last four home games.

And their bowling, which was perceived as a weakness, has become a strength too. Yazvendra Chahal is top wicket taker in the competition, and a few of their seamers have started to look good too.

Instead of looking to the straight win market, we’re taking on the boundaries line. The Cheteshwami Stadium is one of the smallest, and should make for a run fest.

You can back +44.5 boundaries at 5/6 with William Hill.

As for the player markets, we’re looking to Sreenath Aravind in the top bowler field. The Indian seamer has grown into the competition, and has looked very threatening at times. Bowling at the top opens up a wicket taking opportunity, and he is yet to fail in the wickets column so far.

You can back Aravind to be top bowler at 9/1 with Paddy Power.

who is the "we're" your on about m8? just curious.

I choose the markets where I see value. If you'd followed all of my match betting tips, you wouldn't have lost much, if at all. These tournaments tend to become clearer towards the end of the group phase, so hopefully there will be less of a lottery across everything from the sixes lines to highest opening partnership.

Sunrisers' performance was a particularly strange one on form, and I felt they were more than decent at 4/5.

For what it's worth I think that Delhi Daredevils are big at 7/5 with Boylesports to beat Gujarat. I'm backing them and Mishra as top bowler. This could be a low scorer, so I'll be staying away from the sixes bets just in case.

not slating you m8 but the sunrisers performance was not "particulary strange" they lost warner early which they havent done in this tourney ok dhawan scored 56,but off 53 balls??  did he think he was playing a test match? warner is carrying the sunrisers and without him they just wont score enough.

Everything depends on the toss..... If Sunrisers win the toss they will elect to chase and Pune certainly don't have a chance of getting anything beyond 160 (luckily) against an in form bowling attack of Sunrisers.....

But if Sunrisers lose the toss there will be an interesting turn of events because as we have seen the ball tends to swing in the earlier overs. But if Warner gets going and they get anything beyond 175 (which they will if Warner lasts even half the innings) I don't think the Super giants have the ability as of now to chase down that target.....

The best bet here is to place just after the toss as Wanderer said.... Or if you have to place a pre match bet it's just better to go with Sunrisers just because they are a stronger team.....

But as I have repeatedly pointed out during the T20WC, best bet is an in play bet..... Gud luck everyone....

    no everything depends on warner.

  4. alot of todays game is whether warner is out early,if they take him early then pune have a massive chance of winning this game,i havent looked but im sure warner has been their leading scorer every game they have played this year so far and the remainder have done little or not enough if warner goes early they could struggle,ok there is no kp but there is still alot of good players,i think this game is evenly matched and maybe more 50/50 than the price suggest.

  5. South Africa vs Argentina

Bryan Habana to score a hat trick of tries 14/1 paddy power

Both team to score 20 points and South Africa to win 11/4 sky bet

Both teams to score 30 points and South Africa to win 20/1 sky bet

JP Pietersen to score first and South Afica to win 11/1 sky bet

JP Pietersen or Santiago Cordero to score the first try 9/2 sky bet

JP Pietersen and Santiago Cordero both to score a try anytime 9/1 sky bet

Bryan Habana and Santiago Cordero both to score a try anytime 17/2 sky bet

JP Pietersen and Bryan Habana both to score a try anytime 7/1 sky bet

Either team to hit the post 5/2 sky bet

I have a feeling that it will be a high scoring game as there be wont be no pressure on the teams to win so both of them can play running rugby I do fancy Habana and Pietersen to score as they have been great as this World cup also Cordero has been Argentinas star player and he has a great chance of scoring some tries as well I expect to high scoring with both capable of scoring over twenty points and maybe over thirty points as well

you coukld get 11/1 from laddies for jp pieterson to score the first try alone though??

  6. New Zealand vs France

New Zealand to win 11- 15 points 9/2 paddy power

New Zealand to win by 10 points 20/1 paddy power

Dane Coles first tryscorer for the team 14/1 paddy power

Kieran Read first tryscorer 18/1 paddy power

Jerome Kaino Man of the match 14/1 paddy power

Im really looking forward to this match as i think France will make a game of it but i think New Zealand will win it in the end with maybe their forwards scoring the tries with Coles and Read having great chances scoring the first try

if your backing first try scorer willy hills is the place, they have an offer for every game if your bet doesnt score the first but scores the second they pay out as a winner.

A lot tighter than it should've been for sure :eek Final preview: 4pts Mumbai Indians to beat Chennai Super Kings 6/5 Stan James Personally I think this final has been priced the wrong way around. I would have Mumbai favourites. Their batting order has delivered as a collective unit a lot more than Chennai’s has and in Lasith Malinga and Mitch McClenaghan they probably have the two form bowlers of the match too. Chennai’s have the individuals to do something special but the big players for Mumbai are all in good form and it can be them who reclaim this title. couldnt agree more on this one just seen prices and 6/5 for mumbai is a must,as i said before form wins games and at the moment mumbai are firing better than they have in a long time, this year csk will have to settle for runner up im afraid, although they have the batting power we just havent seen it.

Eliminator preview: 4pts Bangalore Highest 1st 6 overs 4/5 Ladbrokes Instead I like Bangalore to win the first six overs. It isn’t just that they’ll have Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers swinging away in that time but they will have Mitchell Starc bowling a couple of overs in that spell too. I would imagine Kohli will open up with a spinner as well so Rajasthan may make a slow start which I don’t see Bangalore doing so the 4/5 on them leading through six looks very acceptable to me. good call kev was made to sweat for it though :)
  9. Re: Indian Premier League 2015 i like mumbai to win tuesdays game against csk i just have'nt been watchin the same csk this year, they seem sloppy and careless,i like the mumbai team surprisingly and think they have gelled well, they flopped at the start of the tourney but have come back with a bang and are defo the form team and form wins games,6/5 for mumbai is a good price in a game i expected to be 10/11 each side.

  10. Re: Indian Premier League 2015

Tuesday preview: 4pts Delhi Daredevils to beat Chennai Super Kings 19/10 Unibet We will get a clearer picture of how strong Chennai’s chances for the title are in this match. I say that because they are going to have to win two matches on the road in the playoffs and to date they’ve only won two out of five away matches in this season’s IPL. They have a bowling attack designed to suit the sluggish Chennai wicket but when they go to wickets with some pace and a bit of carry like this one they have struggled. They have conceded 183/7, 157/2, 154/8, 169/3 and 192/7 on the road this season so they clearly aren’t as comfortable on the road. When these two sides met in Chennai at the start of the season Delhi should have won but went down by a run so in more familiar conditions to the Daredevils the home side look good value to reverse that outcome here.
