  1. Re: May 19 - May 25 Peng Shuai to defeat Ashleigh Barty at 1.77 with Pinnacle I am surprised to see Peng is valued only with slight favorite, she should be a level above Barty. It is true Peng did a poor job against Varvara last week, but I search from Chinese media and find she is physically ok, and that her recent low is mainly because the original coach left her, which means she has no coach in the last few weeks! The positive thing is that her new coach is coming, which I think will help her find her rhythm back and continue her journey in coming weeks.

  2. Re: May 12 - May 18 But the fact Li vomited 15 minutes before the match more or less impact her performance.

Na Li was not clearly ill. She did play the whole match and she just couldn't find the court. Most balls were long. However' date=' Errani played some great defensive tennis. Radwanska should have won as Jankovic was lucky and Radwanska's forehand was terrible at times.[/quote']
  3. Re: May 12 - May 18 Jankovic should win it. She is in good form. I didn't watch Errani's match yesterday but I heard that Li was ill, vomiting before the match, so I suggest not to overract to Errani's win yesterday.

Difficult but I think Jankovic should win. Her service is working fine and powerful in rallies. Errani has to dominate the rallies as she will struggle on serve. I hope Errani wins it but she has to be really good.
  4. Re: May 12 - May 18

Zhang to win at least 4 games vs Serena Williams (@1.40)
I also chose Zhang over 16.5 games at 1.85 with Pinnacle a few hour ago but I realize I missed a piece of important information: Zhang withdrew from her doubles match yesterday over shoulder injury and it really worries me. She was troubled by her injury sometimes since March. But she looks fine so far in this tournament and it is really strange that she looked dominant in the deciding set against Mchale just a few hours before her withdrawal. Maybe it is just because she wants to focus on her match against the world number 1 and to save some energy for her but we don’t know for sure. If it turns out there is really some problem over her shoulder and she insists not to retire, these choices become very vulnerable and dangerous. So now I am thinking maybe I should partially hedge my bet. A more prudent choice is to make the in-play bet to check if she is ok, or at least after watching the pre-match practice.
  5. Re: May 12 - May 18 Ivanovic V.S. Suarez Navarro : Ivanovic -1.5 sets at 2.33 with Pinnacle Ivanovic played superb yesterday, especially her return on second serve, which I believe will pose a lot of threat to Navarro today. She is yet to drop a set in this tournament and I believe she will continue the magic here. I know she struggled a bit against Cornet because her service games were a bit unstable at that time, but I tend to believe that is just a special case, not a normal case in terms of how well she is recently.

  6. Re: May 12 - May 18 Philipp Kohlschreiber V.S. Novak Djokovic : Philipp Kohlschreiber +1.5 sets at 3.41 with Pinnacle I saw Djokovic's match against Stepanek, he was still adjusting after coming back from injury, and he was far from his best. According to the interview, he struggled in the extremely windy condition, which continues today. On the other hand, Kohlschreiber did a good job so far in this tournament. He came back from one set down against Janowicz and won over Robredo in straight sets. Also, H2H shows Kohlschreiber can handle Djokovic on clay. He defeated Djokovic in 2009 French Open in straight sets, and he also managed to take a set from Djokovic in French Open last year. So given Kohlschreiber is in good form whereas Djokovic struggles with wind and also need more matches to adjust, I think there is much value backing the set handicap for Kohlschreiber here.

  7. Re: May 12 - May 18 Jankovic V.S. Kuznetsova – Jankovic to defeat Kuznetsova at 1.99 with Pinnacle Jankovic did not play well in Madrid but in my opinion she is still the better player of the two. Kuznetsova recent wins are all against players ranked below 20. And when she played against Radwanska and Navarro, she had 4-1 lead in the deciding set but failed to close out, which shows she lacks confidence or she is not mentally strong enough against top players. Cornet V.S. Ivanovic – Cornet +1.5 sets at 1.952 with Pinnacle Cornet has good record against top players and she seems to recover well from injury. So I expect Cornet to take at least one set from Ana Ivanovic.

  8. Re: May 12 - May 18 Yvonne Meusburger V.S. Flavia Pennetta – Over 19 games at 2.00 with Pinnacle The reason is quite straightforward. Pennetta has done nothing special since Miami. She played like ranked 50 during those days. While Pennetta should win this match after all, I don’t expect her to win this without pressure from her opponent.

  9. Re: May 12 - May 18 Actually Samantha Stosur is more dangerous for Li than Lisicki. She was 0-6 against Stosur.

One for me after a longer pause:Jankovic' date=' Kerber , Radwanska and Lisicki are the most dangerous opponents Li-Na can meet on her way to the finals.[/quote']
  10. Re: May 12 - May 18 It is strange that we can't find outright choice for Ana Ivanovic with Pinnacle. Same situation happened last week.

Back Svetlana Kuznetsova to win WTA Rome for a 1/10 stake at 51.00 with Bet365 Back Andrea Petkovic to win WTA Rome for a 1/10 stake at 101.32 with Pinnacle The women's side looks even harder to call, so I am going to go for just two small punts on players that are both good and experienced enough to succeed against the big favorites - with a little bit of luck, of course. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/wta-rome-betting-no-value-to-be-found-in-the-favorites-on-the-women-s-side-of-things
  11. Re: May 5 - May 11

In fact you can bet there will at the very least be a TB. I think the finn will likely take a set off the bull
I only have Pinnacle account and there is not such bet with Pinnacle. Also I tend to choose the safer bet, maybe I should have chose the over 20 games for Li's match or Stephens +1.5 set to get more return, but who knows?
  12. Re: May 5 - May 11

    1. Rafael Nadal V.S. Jarkko Nieminen - Jarkko Nieminen over 5 games at 1.877 with Pinnacle

Let’s not overreact to Nadal’s landside victory against Monaco. Nadal played ok but the one-sided game was mainly because Monaco played awful. So it is dangerous to jump to conclusions that Nadal fully recovers from his recent low. Furthermore, surprisingly, Nieminen passed through his first two matches here with ease. So I expect Jarkko Nieminen to get more than 5 games in this match.

    1. Li Na V.S. Sloane Stephens – over 19 games at 1.833 with Pinnacle

If Sloane Stephens is okay with her wrist, which I think is the case, she should be able to put some pressure on Li. It is true Sloane Stephens struggled a bit in the last two matches, but she gradually found her rhythm and came through those difficulties. We all know Li plays extremely good so far in this season, but her service games were a bit shakier than expected in this tournament. So overall I think this could be a longer match, probably with one tie-break or one set of 7-5.

  13. Re: May 5 - May 11 Francesca Schiavone V.S. Sara Errani - Francesca Schiavone +5.5 at 1.952 with Pinnacle Interesting match! Both can deliver great tennis on clay court but both are not at their peak. While Errani is gradually improving her games recently and is currently the better player of the two, I don’t think she can win this match as easy as the bookie thinks. Schiavone should be quite accustomed to Errani’s style of playing. In fact, their playing style is a bit similar, which could lead to smaller gap when they are head to head, so I am willing to back Francesca Schiavone to cover the handicap line.

  14. Re: April 28 - May 4 Roberto Bautista Agut V.S Tommy Robredo - Roberto Bautista Agut +2.5 at 1.98 with Pinnacle Tommy Robredo is rather average in recent form. On the other hand Bautista Agut won the matches he should have won easily, and produce close matches against Nishikori and Fognini. I think this could be a 50/50 match, and if Agut fails to win, he should be able to cover the handicap line.

  15. Re: April 28 - May 4 Andrea Petkovic V.S Sara Errani : Sara Errani to defeat Andrea Petkovic at 1.943 with Pinnacle I think Petkovic is a bit overrated because of her win in Charleston. By looking at her YTD results and seeing her recent games I don't think she is consistent enough. She was priced as the favorite against Pennetta but lost to her in Stuggart. And now she is again originally priced as the favorite against Errani. (Errani was originally priced at 2.04) Errani had I good result here last year so I am willing to back her at this price. Last but not least, finger crossed on my Kuznetsova's outright bet. ^^

  16. Re: April 28 - May 4 Carla Suarez Navarro V.S Irina-Camelia Begu – Begu +6 @ 1.91 with Pinnacle We all know that Navarro had chances to win the title in last two years but just gave it away. She sweeps into the semifinal in this tournament, now everyone seems to expect her to win another easy match and then very likely to win the championship. But this could put extra pressure on herself, especially after what she has gone through in the last two years. When she is in control of the match, no problem at all. But if the match becomes closer, she can become tight and her not-so-strong mentality is a negative factor to her game. Begu was the champion and the runner up of two ITF events recently, which shows she is in good form. Even though her chance to win this match is slim, she should be able to produce a closer game than expected.

  17. Re: April 28 - May 4 Joao Sousa V.S. Leonardo Mayer - Joao Sousa to beat Leonardo Mayer at 1.781 with Pinnacle Leonardo Mayer lost a series of clay matches before squeezing into the main draw in Oeiras. He was down 1-6, 1-3 in the final round of the qualifying draw before Baena completely falter. Joao Sousa lost in the first round last week; however I believe he is still the better player of the two. In my opinion he should be priced at 1.5-1.66, so I am willing to back him at price around 1.78

  18. Re: April 28 - May 4 Svetlana Kuznetsova to win WTA Portugal Open at 11.12 with Pinnacle Last week in Stuttgart was the most successful tournament for Kuznetsova this year. She defeated Simona Halep in straight sets and had a very close match against Ivanovic. While she still need to work harder to be as good form as in 2009, I don’t think top seeds like Navarro or Bouchard can dominate this event easily, so it worths to put small bet on Kuznetsova.

  19. Re: April 21 - April 27 Maria Sharapova V.S Sara Errani : Sara Errani +5.5 at 1.925 with Pinnacle Even though Errani has a poor start of the season, when it comes to red clay, she is up another notch. She went through her first three rounds without much difficulty. On the other hand, I must admit Sharapova plays better than expected given this is her first tournament since Miami. But I am willing to back on Errani’s handicap because I think the bookies might underestimate Errani given her poor form recently but she is a completely different player on red clay. Besides, when they met last year on hard court, Sara Errani was +5 and +4. Now the battle is on red clay, so I think this could be a closer match than expected.
