  1. Re: Maxim King of Poker 2007 I just checked ahead, and the all of the Tuesday MKOP games are at 22:30. Considering how long it takes to get down to the final 10, I won't be bothering any more trying to qualify for the monthly final through that route. The MKOP $10 'Royal Rumble' game tomorrow night is also at 22:30, but as there are usually less than 50 entrants, and the top 15 qualify, it might be worth a go. That's how I've qualified for the last 2 finals anyway. :)

  2. Re: Maxim King of Poker 2007 So I win $25 on a freeroll, and Betfair send me this email: ------------------------------------------------------ Please note that for security reasons we need to validate your account before we can send any prizes you have won on freerolls. In order to assist us with this security procedure we ask that you send us a photocopy or scan of one document from each of the categories listed below: Personal identification - a copy of one photo ID from the following list: -Passport -Driving license -National Identification card (photographic ID required), -Citizenship certificate Address verification - a copy of one of the following: - Utility bill (less than 3 months old) -Tax bill - Bank statement - (less than 3 months old) Source of payment verification - a copy of one of the following; -Betfair account registered Credit or Debit card (front only) -Credit or Debit card account statement of a Betfair registered card (less than 3 months old) -Bank statement - must have Betfair transaction visible on it (less than 3 months old) PLEASE NOTE: -Please do not send original documents, but rather copies of these documents. -The documents must be clear and legible and have all your usernames or telephone account ID on all documents. In order to confirm that this request is genuine please feel free to call the Betfair Helpdesk. You can find the number by going to "Help" on our website and viewing the details under "Contact us". -------------------------------------------------------------- Seems a bit excessive to me! I think I'm much more likely to say "sod you, keep your $25" to be honest. It makes me wonder if it's worth even playing in the final now... :@ EDIT: Just been reading a couple of other threads about this (http://www.punterslounge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43725&page=3&highlight=maxim & http://www.punterslounge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44892), which shows robilaruk, Scully, and Galronix had the same requests after winning in the March 'Launch' freeroll. Is there an easy way around it (like complaining to them ;))?

  3. Re: Maxim King of Poker 2007 Yep, that was me Val, I am 'Steve73' on Betfair. I was on the short stack for quite a while, but got some good cards when I needed them, and a few timely all-in wins dragged me onto the last table. :D

  5. Re: Maxim King of Poker 2007

I hope it's not like the warmup freeroll. :( It was more like a turbo, blinds doubled every 5 minutes.
I actually do hope that the blind structure is the same as the warm up freeroll, cos' knowing me I'll end up playing it every day, so if it's all over within an hour that suits me fine. :D
  6. Re: Maxim King of Poker 2007 Well who would have thought it... I don't visit this site for ages, then just pop in for a browse looking for somewhere else to play my (unregular) poker now that VC's software is crap, and I find out that there's going to be another Maxim King Of Poker tourny, and there's a freeroll tonight! :ok It'll be interesting to see the format of this years tournament now it's with Betfair. Hopefully there won't be any afternoon games this time around, evenings only would be much better. And I'm not intending to play every day like I did last year (and the year before that). Getting 2nd place on the leadereboard was nice though... :D I'll keep a look out for those I know. Steve (Steve73 on Betfair, formally known as nufc40 on VC/MKOP)

  7. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 I received my invites last week (1 in my name, and 1 blank for a guest), but I will unfortunately be unable to go. Basically, I need to keep my work days-off (and money) for other more important/urgent things just at the moment. If it had been on a Friday/Saturday night then that might have been possible, but a mid-week event I can't do. I have sent an email to the RSVP address on the invite, saying that I can't go, and that I thought my place should go to the player who was 11th on the leaderboard. Now I wonder who that was... ;) I expect at least 20% of your winnings Morls.... :ok

  8. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 So it's Wednesday May 3rd now... VC/Maxim seem to have a Wednesday fixation for the grand final(s)... Why they couldn't just hold it on a Friday/Saturday, and therefore be much more convenient for the players, is beyond me. Unless they think that everyone who plays poker lives in London... :eyes

  9. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006

Please Please play like this in london haha
Well, thats the thing Morl, I may not even go to the final (by choice*). Unless there's a decent reward for everyone attending, I'll most likely decline the invite. None of my mates want to go as a guest, and having to take 2 days holiday off work, and pay train/hotel etc. isn't worth it for me. I'm under no illusion that I would have any chance of winning it. I knew that I would most likely not attend quite a while ago, I've only kept playing because I was top of the leaderboard, and wanted to try and win a prize on a Monday. Going to the final has never been a huge motivational factor for me, I just (mostly) enjoyed playing the poker, and having friendly chat/banter with you guys. There's not a lot else to do on cold dark winter nights anyway! :lol It could turn out good for you Morl, 11th place could be enough! :ok 3 weeks until the grand final... no 'official' date for the final... no announced venue... no leaderboard update... no confirmation of players who have already qualified. It's about as organised as last year's event then I'm afraid. And trying to play poker in a hot nightclub with booming music? I hope those attending don't have a repeat of that playing environment. :eyes *I reserve the right to change my mind at anytime though... ;)
  10. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 Started on a table with 2 of the aformentioned gits, 'Mr2Gts' (he went all-in on the first hand! :eyes) and 'ben637', and 6 disconnects. I soon got tired of their frequent all-ins and raises, so I went all-in on 2 pair K's & Q's, and got busted by a straight! :@ 53 points in total for today! :nana I'm sooooo glad it's the last week....

  11. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 I got a massive 25 points from this afternoons game (as a disconnect). I must have been on a table with only one live player. :eyes And seeing that Dotster was 25th, netting him 231 points, he is now top of the leaderboard by 100 points. Congratulations Dot, you have played very well, and I knew it was only a matter of time until you would take 1st place. If only I could have played the afternoon games properly - not just quickly logging in if the opportunity arose at work, then seeing my blinds being robbed at a rate of knots, and going all-in on a reasonably good hand (and losing, as yesterday, hence the 14 point score :lol). The pressure's off now... time to play proper poker... look out all the constant raise/all-in gits who have made life hell for us regulars. :@

  12. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006

Does happen' date=' especially on line, as so many more hands are dealt. Had AK diamonds twice in a row once. Would love to know what the odds on that happening are.[/quote'] The odds against the next hand being the same as the previous one are 1326 to 1 I worked that out in my head... Honestly... But then I do class a Google search as 'in my head'... :lol
  13. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 Yeah, all-in holding Kd Ah against your Ac Qs, I saw the flop of 6c 2c Ad and started doing the happy dance! :nana Then the turn and river brought 4c and 3c, and it was all over... :sad There's always next week to try and win a prize though. :hope

  14. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006

Never seen so many pocket A's in my life!
In tonights game I saw 'robsilver' get pocket Aces two hands in a row! Not only that, but they were exactly the same suits (AcAs) on each hand! :eek
  15. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 Out in 24th place tonight. My last 2 hands were: All-in on 10c10s, loses to JcJh, on a club flush (J kicker) of all things. He had less chips, so I was still in, but short stacked... :( Next hand all-in on QhQd, loses to Dotsers 3h3c, when the river brings another 3! :cry Hope those chips help you get to the final table Dot. :ok Good points, but I still haven't made the final table on a Monday and won a 'real' prize, and only 2 chances left... :hope

  16. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 1st place tonight! :nana This despite being stuck on a table with 'e4e4e4' (with 7 discons) for ages, who didn't say a single word, wouldn't share, raised pre-flop on almost every hand, and was all-in like it was going out of fashion. :wall I could actually start playing properly once he went out... :lol

  17. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 No worries Dot, I might have tried the same thing had I been in your position! ;) I'm just a bit pee'd off that I haven't managed to qualify yet, and it gets a bit annoying when you have to slug it out with several other players on your table, whilst other tables have only 1 or 2 live players on them getting easy money. You do have to make the most of it when you're on a discon table though, and it's rare to be in that position! :lol

  18. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 Out in 80th position, my 2 pair Kings & Aces lost to a flush, on (you guessed it) the river card! :@ That leaves 3 games left to try and qualify for Monday... :hope I was really hoping for more points, as Dotster is closing in fast (largely due to him being able to play the weekday 2pm games I think, but he's also playing well). So after a few minutes play, I checked to see how Dot was doing, and he was on table 2, reaping all the blinds from 7 discons and one 'away' player! :wall Then when I looked again later on, he was 'away' with 14k in chips, letting all the sub-500 chip discons constantly share the blinds around the table, meaning that they didn't go out, and no 'live' players could join the table. Obviously hoping to let this go on for as long as possible, and start playing again when the field was cut down considerably. A clever tactic I grant you, but hardly sporting... :spank

  19. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 The new Maxim leaderboard has me 123 points above my forcasted score (going on my scores since Run's last leaderboard), so I can't complain too much. Maybe they've gone through the whole tournament history, and corrected all the score errors since the start. I know that I had 256 points from one of the New Years eve games not included in my total for weeks afterwards (if at all), so who knows how accurate it is... :eyes

  20. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006

Nufc' date=' when you got a reserve spot, were you allowed to bring anyone? as i think thats my best way in[/quote'] I don't think the invite was for a guest as well, but I can't remember 100%. I never actually received any ticket(s), but I was going as Gud's guest anyway, and just said I was on the alternate list as we were going into Pacha, then confirmed it with Mopi when we were inside.
  21. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006 In last years Maxim tourament, there was an extra week of 8pm games the Mon-Fri before the grand final, with 10 seats available, one going to each daily winner, and one to the player who knocked out the bounty player each day. They may do the same this year, so thats something to keep an eye out for. And it was only during the very last Friday game (the grand final was the following Wednesday), that I learnt from the bounty (who was getting a real grilling about who had/hadn't qualified :lol )that my mate 'Gudgeon' had actually qualified for the final as one of the 'highest monthly movers' (don't think they're doing it this time though). He didn't even know himself, he found out when he got a hurried text from Morlspin! The next day, he got the tickets in the post, and I got an email inviting me to attend the final as an alternate. So be prepared for the possibility of arranging a trip to London at very short notice! :ok

  22. Re: VC/Maxim King of Poker 2006

Does any one remember how far down the leader board they extended the invites to the final last year???
I finished 19th in the leaderboard last year, and got invited to the grand final as an 'alternate', with the possibility of playing if there were spare seats on the night. I don't know how far down the leaderboard this went, but there were a good 10-15 alternates there on the night, and I think all of us got to play. :clap I'm making a habit of qualifying on a Tuesday now, 11th place tonight. :ok
